8.50am local time A warm welcome to the spanking new ground in Hyderabad, the venue for the second Test between India and New Zealand. Later in the day, we will have another new ground entering the Test family when South Africa and Pakistan face off in Dubai. How often does that happen?

It's a hot day in Hyderabad and the spectators streaming in will have to brave the open stands. It won't be easy for the players either. Toss in ten minutes.

Pitch report by SMGavaskar on Neo Cricket: "Its a very hard pitch. There will be lot more carry than what we had in Ahmedabad. The seamers will like it on first day. There will be turn later of course but the batsmen should like the bounce and there will be lots of shots. The ball will move a bit. The outfield is superb."

Toss: Daniel Vettori has won the toss and has chosen to bat.

Vettori "We would like to bat. It looks like the ball might move a bit early on but if we get through it and we post a good first-innings total we can be on our way. Guptill comes for Watling, Bret Arnel for Hamish Bennett and Tim Southee comes in for Jeetan Patel."

Dhoni: "It looks like a good track. This wicket has produced a good base for batsmen to score runs. Would have loved to bat first.' Will there be something for the bowlers? "Hmmm , it doesn't look so. Well lets see; it has been under covers for a while so may be. Same side"

As you might have heard and read, this is the first Test match at Uppal stadium. "Fourteen months ago the Uppal stadium laid out sporting tracks for the Champions League. Can it do the same for its first Test? Harsha Bhogle has his say.

Rajesh: "I want to know how many "You Know's" came from MSD's speech, when he spoke after Lossing the toss." Not once sir not once. Of course "of course" was there. And he also didn't use, "You can say". Pity.

Here is Laxman on playing at home. He writes, "It was the first time I saw Sachin Tendulkar in person. He was the talk of the country, having made his international debut so young. We kids were practising in the adjacent nets and I managed to take a peek at him and other stars like Dilip Vengsarkar, Sanjay Manjrekar, Ravi Shastri, Mohammad Azharuddin and Arshad Ayub. They were players you normally only saw in newspaper pictures or on TV, and suddenly to see them in person was exciting. That excitement has always stayed inside me."

And if you don't want to miss even a moment of this interesting Test (or anything to do with cricket, in fact), don't forget to install the ESPNCricinfo toolbar . It's your link to everything in cricket. As Salman Khan might say, "Plug banta hai boss!'

Sindhur: "The other day i counted 42 "You know's" in a half hour interview of dhoni..." Liar! It was just 39.

Yatin: "Why Watling out for Guptill, why not McIntosh ?? Watling at least got of the mark in both innings.. Even PhanTom got more runs than Mcintosh in the match."

And Cricinfo's Sid Monga, who is on bulletin duty this game, informs us: "India didn't make any changes to the XI that saved the Ahmedabad Test, the first time they have had the luxury of repeating the XI since the two home Tests against England in December 2008, stat that sums up the fitness problems they have had to counter. "

Jonathan: "I'm also surprised Watling was given the axe - he's younger and has a lot more potential than McIntosh. However, Guptill can be glad that the selectors forgot about Justin Green." Bah! no one forgets Justin Green. Justin is leading the all star XI in Jupiter. It's a big inter-galactic game. Jupiter v Mars. Apparently Justin has won the toss and dropped everyone else in his side. And he has also promised to play blindfolded.

1.2

Sreesanth to McCullum, FOUR, Smashed! Fuller length delivery hoping for swing and a mistake from the batsman. But there is none. McCullum flayed it through cover point. He hit in the air but its an untenanted area. He hit it with power and style.

Aaron: "Does anyone else think that Baz has a duty to shield MacIntosh from the strike?"

2.1

Khan to McIntosh, no run, That awkward front-leg movement gets him into trouble. He somehow manages to stumble out to stab this incoming delivery. Zaheer thought he had his man lbw ..

Ragavendra: "Good to hear there is some movement, if not from the pitch atleast from the side screen area.."

3.2

Sreesanth to McCullum, OUT, Sreesanth has produced a beauty! Cracker! It lands short of length - that lovely seam rushing on straight - around the off stump and straightened. And bounced. McCullum was squared-up and pushed out at it. The ball clipped the outer edge and flew to the keeper. McCullum swung around but his worst fears were confirmed. Gone!

3.5

Sreesanth to Guptill, no run, length delivery on the middle stump line, tapped to square-leg

4.1

Khan to Guptill, no run, gets behind the line of the short-of-length delivery and pushes it back to the bowler

4.2

Khan to Guptill, 1 leg bye, gets this to straighten but just like the second delivery of the over, ends up pushing to the pads. It rolls away for a leg bye

4.6

Khan to McIntosh, no run, beaten outside off stump. It was a nice full delivery that shaped away ever so late. McIntosh went for the drive and the ball curved past the edge

Sid Monga buzzes me: "McIntosh has faced 29 balls this series. All of them from Zaheer Khan. he has scored 0 runs and got out twice.

Sreesanth to Guptill, no run, in the zone outside off stump, left alone

5.2

Sreesanth to Guptill, no run, leans forward to play a neat drive but Sreesanth intercepts it on his follow through

5.3

Sreesanth to Guptill, no run, edged but well short of gully. Again, that straightening is getting the batsmen in trouble. This one was on the middle stump line and the batsman thought it would tilt in and he was looking to tap it to the on side. Mistake. The ball straightened and rushed of the edge

5.4

Sreesanth to Guptill, no run, Another fine delivery. This one is in the channel outside off and Guptill shoulders arms. Three slips in place. Sehwag. Laxman and Raina

5.5

6.4

Khan to McIntosh, no run, around that off stump line, McIntosh guides it to point

6.5

Khan to McIntosh, 3 runs, He is up and running. he leans forward to squaredrive it through cover point. Neatly done

6.6

Khan to Guptill, 4 leg byes, slips this to his pads and it runs away to the fine-leg boundary.

Around 3000 to 4000 people in there. They are still coming in. So let's see how it looks at lunch time.

7.1

Sreesanth to McIntosh, no run, lovely probing delivery straightening on the off-stump line. McIntosh was caught at the crease and just about manages to stab it away

7.2

Sreesanth to McIntosh, 1 leg bye, this one actually moves back in but it started from middle and leg and curved to the pads. It rolled of the thigh to short fine-leg region and Dhoni ran across to collect it

7.3

Sreesanth to Guptill, 2 runs, length delivery on the off and middle line and again Guptill is beaten, pushing inside the line. Sreesanth has constantly got it to straighten but the batsmen too have consistently been pushing inside the line. This one too runs of the edge past gully

7.4

Sreesanth to Guptill, 1 no ball, Out but not out! Sreesanth got the edge and the batsman was walking when Dharmasena decided to check for the no ball. And it's a no ball! A smiling Guptill walks back to the middle! Sreesanth is bowling superbly here in Hyderabad. It landed on a length around off and curves away late. Guptill pushes at it, bat away from the body, and follows the delivery. And gets the edge! But he had overstepped. Dharmasena has doubts about the no ball and goes upstairs. He was proven right.

7.4

Sreesanth to Guptill, no run, Jaffa Fab delivery this. It kicked up from short of length and flew past the startled batsman. There was bounce and away movement. Guptill just stabbed at thin air. Sreesanth gives him one long cold stare.

7.5

Sreesanth to Guptill, no run, starts from outside off stump and swings further away; easy decision to let it go

7.6

Sreesanth to Guptill, no run, this one comes back in but starts from well outside off stump and doesn't come back in to threaten the off stump. Guptill shoulders arms

Drinks break. Time to tweet. Or check out our twitter page at @ESPNcricinfo . When Rome burnt, Nero tweeted.

Ravi on John Lennon and BCCI: "Laxman's not the only one making his home test debut. My brother and Dad are there as well ;-). One thing that might explain low turnouts is the in-stadium restrictions. No mobiles, no water bottles, no cameras. It is enough to put off most people that going to watch a test match should be like visiting some defence establishment!! Restrictions like those would probably rule out families with little kids and only the totally dedicated would be willing to go through that pain. BCCI is living the John Lennon song "you don't take nothing with you but your soul"!"

11.4

Khan to Guptill, no run, straightens but slips to the pads ..rolls away to the keeper

11.5

Khan to Guptill, 2 runs, fine delivery this. He has tried to get the ball straighten a few times before this but on all occasions he had slipped it to the leg and middle line. Not this time, though. It was bang on the middle and for a moment it appeared he would get an lbw decision. Guptill was late in getting the bat around but does so in the nick of time and works the ball through midwicket. Dravid, who is not standing in slips today after getting hurt in the last game when he dropped Ryder, does the fielding

14.4

Harbhajan Singh to Guptill, 1 run, Dropped by Dhoni That's not quite a full topspinner but the one that didn't turn in much but Dhoni has clanged it. Guptill went for the cut but the ball went on almost straight and edged it to DHoni who couldn't hold on. And it bounded wide of a lunging Laxman. It wasn't an easy chance and it wasn''t too difficult either. The replays show Dhoni's error: He was going towards his left and when the edge came, he wasn't in a great position to take it.

Rahul Bhagchandani has been sky watching: "Hyderabad is all overcast today and that has got me thinking what actually the weather of India is up to these days. I see Mumbai, New Delhi all experiencing overcast conditions along with most of Central India. Goa got a reprieve a few days back, but its back under the rain clouds; god save the tourists! And that's not it, even Ahmedabad is having overcast conditions and lightest spells of rains since a few days, can you just imagine that?! I Guess Global Warming has started playing tantrums."
