New Zealand in India T20I Series - 2nd T20I

India v New Zealand

New Zealand won by 1 run

All set for the start, Rob Nicol to open along with Martin Guptill, one slip in place for Zaheer Khan

Time to look at some mails.

Anant: "Really do not understand why Rahane wasn't picked as the backup opener in the squad. Excellent player and has proven through the IPL that he can play the shortest format. Also his T20 debut against England last year was fantastic."

I think we should keep Rahane as the reserve opener in Tests.

Hari is happy with Balaji's selection: "Good to see the "Smiling Assassin" Bala back. Welcome."

Dickson: "Good to see Milne in the team for this game. Hope his injuries haven't lowered his pace any. Seeing him reach 153km/h against Pakistan back home was exciting, if anything I hope he's got all that pace plus more for this."

Toss: India have decided to bowl first. Virender Sehwag is not playing today because he isn't fit. Harbhajan Singh isn't playing either. Dhoni felt that this pitch might suit the seamers more.

L Balaji is playing today. As is Rohit Sharma and Manoj Tiwary. Will Kohli open with Gambhir? The final line-ups are updated above. Dhoni didn't elaborate on Sehwag's injury.

Ross Taylor says the majority of those who had flown in for the T20s are playing. Vettori, Kyle Mills, Adam Milne, Oram and Ronnie Hira are playing.

6pm: Good day everyone. Let's get straight to the weather. No rain. Good start to the evening. It was pouring yesterday, and I was told this morning was a bit overcast too in parts, but no issues at the moment. Yuvraj Singh might stage his comeback in India after all. In the meantime, you can read the preview for today's game.

Pitch: Typical Chennai pitch, says Sanjay Manjrekar. There will be something for the spinners. Team that wins the toss should bat first.

8.30pm: A good recovery for NZ after being 2 for 2. McCullum really took the initiative and with Williamson added 90. Bad day for Ashwin in front of his home crowd but better figures for Pathan, with 3 for 31. Catch us at 8.50. I need to grab some dinner quickly.
