Big Picture

Just the plain fact that this tour is actually happening is a gargantuan achievement for the Pakistan Cricket Board and its chairman Zaka Ashraf. How many diplomatic and political channels must have been traversed, how many meetings arranged and attended, how many people cajoled and persuaded, and how many prayers said in the hope that nothing goes wrong at the last moment. Well, Pakistan are finally here, on Indian soil, for their first bilateral tour in five years. It does not matter that it is apologetically short, it does not matter that it is barely squeezed between the two legs of England's India visit. Thank heavens to Christmas then, for ensuring a gap existed in the first place for the two Twenty20 internationals and three ODIs to be sneaked in.

The rivalry needs no introduction. In the earlier part of the previous decade, the historic Indian tour of Pakistan in 2003-04 - after another five-year break in ties - heralded a surfeit of bilateral series to the extent the rivalry began to feel a bit jaded. Since 2007, or more pertinently, since the Mumbai attacks of 2008, fans have had to rely on crumbs - a Champions Trophy game in 2009, a couple of Asia Cup matches, a World Cup semi-final in 2011, and a World Twenty20 clash in 2012.

MS Dhoni might say it is just another series but it isn't. Privately for the players, and openly for the fans, India v Pakistan will always be a coming together of shared history, culture, language, fear, hopes, love, hatred. India v Pakistan will always convert a neutral venue into a sea of flags of the two countries. India v Pakistan will always do strange things to players; it will drain flair out of those who have it, and it will inject flair into those who haven't had it till then, and won't have it thereafter. India v Pakistan will always make temporary fans out of people who run away from cricket otherwise.

Too much cricket? Underperforming Indian team? No Sachin Tendulkar? All valid concerns and worries. But come the first ball in Bangalore on Tuesday evening, few will be able to resist watching.

Form guide (Completed games, most recent first)

Pakistan LWLWW

In the spotlight

The last time these sides met, in the World Twenty20 in Colombo, a hesitant Mohammad Hafeez set the stage for a dull performance from Pakistan. The captain, having chosen to bat, made a 28-ball 15, defending and defending without intent. Hafeez's approach continued when Pakistan fielded, diffidence replacing his usual pro-active, snappy self. It had to be the pressure of an India-Pakistan game, for in their next match against Australia, Pakistan were back to playing aggressive, stirring cricket. How will Hafeez cope this time?

Virat Kohli is one young Indian batsman many Pakistani fans admire and despise in equal measure. The man is brash, but he gets the runs. He swears, but he is dependable. He's played a couple of match-winning innings against them already, including the outstanding 183 in the Asia Cup earlier this year in Dhaka.

Stats and Trivia

  • This will be the first T20 to be played between the two sides in India.
  • Pakistan have played four bilateral limited-overs series in India, and have won two.

"We want him to stay at the peak. We don't want to put too much pressure on him. At the same time, other bowlers also have to take wickets to give confidence to him."
Mohammad Hafeez on Saeed Ajmal

"T20 is slightly different. You have to be a bit unorthodox and try a few different things. It is different from the longer format. So I think a few games will give us time to get into the groove."
MS Dhoni

come on dhoni what you doing all the time u trying to be somethink not good for indian team. why kholi bowling infront of jadeja and rohit sharma? if you think jadeja not goo bowler why you drop ashwin? in that case why can' t you bring baji, rahul sharma, oija, mizra instead of him? u got to take all the blame dhoni you are getting worse and worse.

Indian batsmen are being exposed by good bowling from Pakistan. They are simply not good enough to handle good bowling. That's why India is playing 8 batsmen. England has shown India where they are on tests. Pakistan will show them where they are in ODI and T20. But the question is 'will Indians be intelligent enough to accept their mediocrity?

Only surprise he left out Ashwin,

Well Rohit & jadeja are going to play for next 20 years as usual & play one good innings in a year.

Dhoni never ever going to be flexible

This match between pakistan is not a war or will bebreath taking. this is just another T20 match for India. If you look at the last 4-5 years, matches with Aus, Eng, SA will be like a war. nowadays pak is just like a SL

I Think Pakistan Wil Give tough time to India . Afiridi's today Performance will decide result of match

I don know which target is safe for India to set, with most un-dependable bowling attack in Indian cricketing history...!! All the best Team Dhoni, anyways...

India v Pakistan will always make temporary fans out of people who run away from cricket otherwise. Its true

Posted by   on (December 25, 2012, 12:54 GMT)

well if u look at recent england spinners achievement in india, pakistani spinners will control the match very well, ajmal, afridi, hafeez, umar gul all will be too good for pakistan. but indian players will be have different mentality on this as for both its not cricket match its a war for them. then it could be totally big score or very small target. i can't see any sensible cricket it will be a highly emotion match looking forward it.

Rivalry is ok as long as they does'nt overdo it,i remember the 2004 series which was tremendous but after that both team started playing against each other almost every year and killed the interest, lets their be a resumption of indo-pak rivalry but they sud play test series after every 2yrs on a home and away basis...

Posted by   on (December 25, 2012, 12:47 GMT)

India will have chance of winning this T20 against Pak as long as Shewag is not in the team. It may be other way also, including Shewag may create infighting amoung Pak Players, becoz they will fight for bowling as it is the easiest wicket any player including wicket keeper (not bowler) can grab.

Posted by syedzaf on (December 25, 2012, 12:46 GMT)

Good luck to both teams. Not sure what Zaka Ashraf fixed with tour dates

Posted by karpurapu_kalyan on (December 25, 2012, 12:43 GMT)

Mr.Anaar: Rohit technically best Yound batsman technically higher than Kohli but he needs to work on his tempermant.........what more confidence you need to give him he has been retained for long long time at the cost of fortunate Tiwari....who has been in bench for more than year...........thats harsh on him........let rohit go back for few seaons and come back strongly like Raina & Yuvraj did in their earlier days. That's good for Indian cricket

Posted by ranjithrissur on (December 25, 2012, 12:41 GMT)

I think only a wicket taking bowler india have is yuvi. I think chawla has done everything to not picked in the team.. But every time he gets picked..mysterious spinner!!

I wish pakistan bowls first and hope it will be a great game of cricket.

Hope At last PAKISTAN can make a T20 WIN against INDIA . They are still 0 against T20 India . Can not win against India in LAST 5 years .

Posted by Pak_Cricket_SurreyUK on (December 25, 2012, 12:17 GMT)

Fingers crossed for Afridi to perform. Massive pressure on his shoulders and will be a career saving innings if he does perform. I have been his biggest fan but if he continues to disappoint then he should perhaps consider retirement.

Ajmal needs to perform as standard for Pakistan. I hope Hafeez doesnt go all defensive like he has done in the past against India. Good luck to the youngsters.. I can imagine the pressure they will be feeling. Pakistan vs India is the most watched game of cricket in Pakistan and India so if a youngster performs he can surely guarantee a permanent place in the team. However if the newbee fails then people will always remember him for his poor performance.

Looking forward to a close finish and a good game. Good luck to both teams!

Posted by Prabhash1985 on (December 25, 2012, 12:08 GMT)

I guarantee, the pitch will be a great batting pitch. Indians try to win matches by preparing pitches that help their strength. It's not fair, but anybody will do it.

Posted by Syedov on (December 25, 2012, 11:52 GMT)

India will completely rely on his home advantage factor.Pakistan is going to play with powerful ever batting line up of its time.

Posted by AdityaMookerjee on (December 25, 2012, 11:45 GMT)

Does anyone feel, that an international T-20 century, is like a Test double century? Pujara scored a century in the IPL, perhaps, and then he showed that he could score a Test double, I mean, two centuries in a series.

Posted by   on (December 25, 2012, 11:42 GMT)

Weather conditions are saying that this is gonna be another "due factor's" game. This game should have been scheduled to be started at 5oClock rather than 7.

If the batting 2nd team wins, they will be the true winners, otherwise it's just unfair.

Posted by   on (December 25, 2012, 11:40 GMT)

Not sure what |India has in mind for a team but Dinda should team up with Ishant Sharma. There is enough spinning talents already.

This is an opportunity for India to redeem themselves.

Rohit sharma has talent, only need some motivation... He played good in T20 at mumbai.... So hope to see he is rising in this series & cementing his position in indian squad..

I would also love to see rahane cementing his postion in the squad....a much wasted talent till now because of sehwag n gambhir..... Now its time to kick out sehwag & give rahane a full series...let him play his natural game....he only gets better from here...!!

I'm glad Pakistan and India are playing once again. It's extremely important for the subcontinent that we get along well, instead of playing the part of stooges in the game plan of other nations... lets do well ourselves together!

What chance do Ashjwin have in making it to the playing eleven against Pakistan tonight? The guy makes turning pitches look flat. I cant remember if any other Indian spinner has been hit by as may sixes as Ashwin has. But he will still make it to the team.

On the Basis of his performance he ll be selected in ODI team.. i dont want to see pak team without Afridi...

Now About India... Kohli u r the real hero.. Go for it..

i am not a paki supporter, therefore, it seems to paki is going to win this match. All this will happen because of the difference between two countries' bowling strength. Therefore, wish best of luck for both the teams.

hmm nyc contest!! but in my opinion india has advantage

Posted by   on (December 25, 2012, 10:10 GMT)

Dear Humi, I am not taking it personaly :) This one is the public forum, and we all are supposed to be share our opinions. I think the only problem is to keep away politics from cricket because the nations of both countries wants to see us in cricket grounds.

Posted by   on (December 25, 2012, 10:05 GMT)

@shinewindies: I appreciate your thought brother, but whatever afridi, akhtar and other players have earned was because they were deserving.

Let suppose if Chris Gayle is in form and the highest paid cricketer in IPL, do we think that in future we will say that whatever Chris Gayle have earned is because of us (Indian)?

Personally I am a big fan of most Indian cricketers because they deserver to be appreciated. If we think like that then I think we all must grow up.

Posted by ashrafkhan1985 on (December 25, 2012, 10:01 GMT)

Wish we would have a great game. India seems more stronger but its always a game the one who handle the pressure is always a victorious :)

Posted by   on (December 25, 2012, 10:01 GMT)

Our rivalry aside, I think it's a great oppertunity to bring us (Pakistanis and Indians) closer. Cricket is a good way to bring people closer, victory or defeat are irrelevant things in a bigger picture. I see a lot of Indians and Pakistanis abusing each other here on cricinfo, which saddens me, at the end of the day we still have to live next to each other. Be it sport or anything else, we should concentrate on positive things. Best wishes to both the teams and the fans across. A well wisher from Pakistan.

Posted by shaantanu on (December 25, 2012, 10:00 GMT)

to all those who are asking why Pakistani players r not in IPL.....IPL is out n out business.the owners spend millions on the players.....n given the volatile relation that India n Pakistan share it wud be a big risk having Pakistani players in your team.its all about return for your investments n nothing else.

Posted by humi_cric on (December 25, 2012, 9:56 GMT)

Brother Ehteshaam, I think you didn't understand my point(I am sorry). In the first IPL edition Pakistani players were there, then an incident happened in Mumbai --- (don't want to discuss about that sad incident)--- in the second edition Pakistani players names were there but no one interested in them ( if you were a star cricketer and same happened to you that your name was called and no one show any interest, then?).

No frustration, why we are continuously forcing/requesting others to allow our players in their league. I respect my players and if they don't play IPL then does it make any difference???? Please don't take it personally, I respect your opinion.

Posted by   on (December 25, 2012, 9:45 GMT)

I hope INDIAN crowed will be more supportive this time. In the past we saw ONLY Delhi and Mohali crowed have been supporting /appreciate Pakistani Team on the ground . Mumbai , Bangalore and Calcutta's "educated crowed" are worst in that sense, they dont appreciate good cricket played by visiting teams atall. So C'mon Indian Crowed prove the world that things have changed now !!!!

Posted by shinewindies on (December 25, 2012, 9:40 GMT)

i see some people talking abt Pakistani players not in IPL, well have you forgotten about IPL 1 and the amount of money which Afridi, akhtar and others earned, the money they got playing that 1 month's cricket was far more than they might have earned playing 10 years for Pakistan, i dont want to get into this but have you forgotten the attack on Mumbai, that led to no Indian visas being issued to any Pakistani be that a sportsmen or any other ordinary man and this was a government decision and not BCCI, and still its us who have welcomed Pakistan to play this freindship series to restore the greatest sporiting rivalry in mankind history, dont worry brothers Pakistani players now would be playing IPL in not very distant future. Looking forwrad to what should be a cracking series, best of luck to both the teams.

Posted by doubtingthomas on (December 25, 2012, 9:38 GMT)

There is no rivalry anymore. Stop kicking a storm where it does not exist at all. Both teams have their ranks full of mediocre players. They deserve to play against each other and should not bother the calenders of more proficient teams. Not expecting any fireworks.

Posted by chivukulasekar on (December 25, 2012, 9:38 GMT)

Cricket should be used as a catalyst to build a strong relationship between these two nations. Fans should be capable of distinguishing between patriotism and prejudice. Hopefully this series can be played in a fierce by positive spirit. Go India!!!

Hi Guys!

@Humi_Cric: Brother, Look at your comments

"IPL (Inidan Premier League), as the name suggested, its for Indian people and they have all the rights to decide whom they want to see in their ground to perform infornt of them"

Now, I am not going to object your opinion, but the point is "It means, INDIA don't want to see PAKISTAN in IPL", why? Does INDIA want to have difference with PAKISTAN??? what INDIA wants to show???

Brother, if you see your statement, frustration is in your thought. If you are OK then why PAKISTAN couldn't be the part of IPL? If other team's player can play IPL, why not Pakistani players??? It doesn't mean that PAKISTAN couldn't survive if we don't IPL. But the phenomena which INDIA adopt is not good. I hope you got my point.

Thank you!

Posted by   on (December 25, 2012, 8:47 GMT)

though it still pulls the crowd, the 80s and 90s charm is gone. India and pakistan might not be very friendly but Indians and Pakistanis are gr8 friends. I know at least a hundred indo pak friends who loveeeeeee each other!. There are some strange friends who fight in the name of politics but when it comes to a serious issue, both stick together (esp in Dubai, New Zealand, Usa, Canada and all). But a direct consequence of that is ...that both people arent so tense like before if they lose/win. Considering the friendship thats growing (off the field, both off the cricket field and off the political field), i dont mind if we lose a bit of tension for a cricket match!. Good luck to both sides (lets fight till the game is over and then have a drink together later...thats the spirit i tell u!) Good luck, have fun, merry christmas!

Yaar Atif Mehmood, Please stop this nonsense. Pakistani players are not in IPL (Inidan Premier League), as the name suggested, its for Indian people and they have all the rights to decide whom they want to see in their ground to perform infornt of them, for me its reasonable, no need to show frustration. I don't understand why my Pakistani brothers are demanding inclusion of Paki players in IPL. I think IPL is hurting Indian test team badly ("test cricket is the real cricket", don't think any sensible cricket lover have any doubt about this statement), so do you also want our players to entertain us the same way as Indian players did. Sorry Atif Mehmood, but your comments are bit harsh, we should respect other nations emotions also, I am sure someone from the other side of the border line will reply in the same tone, be prepared. Just relax brother, no need to show anger.

@Rahane-fan-Last time India played with Bangladesh, India did lose. India / Pakistan can't trash Bangladesh, not like past. Bangladesh is much better now.

we want more cricket between india and pakistan.... As for as todays match is concerned its for Pakistan to end the inidan winning dreaft against us. we'll clean sweep the coward inidan side.

Junaid Khan (if selected in playing 11) will be the difference between two teams, he is desperate to perform, especially against India. From Indian side, I think Virat Kohli is the player who can change the game in India's favor, as already did twice in 2012, so "ON A HAT-TRICK". Don't know why is time passing sooooo slowly? Good luck to both teams.

Posted by   on (December 25, 2012, 7:53 GMT)

India is always afraid to play Pakistan, they are bi-est enough, whenever anybody talks about to play with Pakistan, India shows reluctant by lame excuses like govt. not clearing etc, why they are not including Pakistani players in IPL??? Why??? Actually they are jealous of, anyways Pakistan team ranking in T20 in better than india, infact Pakistan is the most successful T20 team in the world.. You can't stop the Greens to rock...

Is this Money ONLY & other countries are not concerned about security.. really ?? Be it IPL or WC, International Players have always felt safe and enjoyed cricket in india... And regarding pakistan team visiting despite threats, well... no one is forced for anything... Pakistan can withdraw if they can afford to !!!!

@BDforever.. Its better for Bangladesh to concentrate on any upcoming series of Zimbabwe instead of getting thrashed at the hands of Ind/Pak.

Bet it will be a humdinger of a series. India start favorites in ODIs while Pak have a slight upper hand in T20s. Both teams have some out and out matchwinners. Best of luck to all.

Pakistan has been the Strong team in T20's From the Start So Pakistan will be favorite in T20's In OD I's will be funnnnnnnnn

Very good series between two fantastic cricketing nation. Thanks PCB tor the hard job. I predict Pakistan could be win todays T20 match

My team for India:- Gambhir, Rahane, Kohli, Rayudu, Yuvraj, Raina, Dhoni, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ashok Dinda, Awana, Ashwin. Since Pakistan team member could not able to play well against pace bowlers, I had selected 3 pace bowlers. Anyway we have many part timers who can bowl spin. So, There is no need of selecting 2 spinners. Last match though Awana has outplayed by English batsmen. But he also showed the glimpse of being a good bowler for the future. Dinda was unlucky in the last match.

Posted by andrew27994 on (December 25, 2012, 7:15 GMT)

Watching an India - Pakistan match after such a long time is a great Christmas present for me in disguise. Looking forward to the contest. This could be Pakistan's best chance of winning a T20 or ODI format against this Indian side given the way they were demoralised after their recent failures in Tests. I know that they are playing a completely different format but the T20 team is pretty similar to our Test team with the same captain. Unless India bowl well, it could most likely be a victory for Pakistan. The key factor in this match would be the fielding, of course. In recent times, both sides haven't been good to watch in the field, though I'd say Pakistan were slightly worse than India. I'd be very excited to see the 7-foot plus Mohammad Irfan play and hope he features in today's match.

Posted by asimikram on (December 25, 2012, 7:13 GMT)

A tremendous end of 2012 and a memorable start of 2013 with some great cricket around. Cricket fans are lucky to see both the acch-rivals in the ground for few motches after so long. I am sure all the fans are now tired of watching highlights of old old cricket match between Pakistan and India. I would request PCB and BCCI to sit together to plan more of Indo-Pak cricket in future.

How can you say that your country is safe?England left the series & went back to their country. Thanks to the money power of BCCI aka 'The Big Daddy of Cricket',' England had to come back & resume the series..There are so many threats to Pakistani team but still here we are in India not afraid of anything & willing to play everywhere.

Appreciate the efforts of P.C.B. and B.C.C.I. towards restoring the cricketing ties ( rather RESUMPTION OF HOSTILITIES ). Cricket and fans need "THE CLASHES" on regular basis. The rivalry brings the best out of cricketers and is GOOD FOR SPORTS. Hype generated ahead of this "mini series" (and today's match) has added EXTRA SPICE. Although no rocket science, team handling the pressure/holding nerves better will prevail and the "DEW FACTOR" ( hence the toss ) will be crucial - WIN THE TOSS / BAT SECOND would be a massive advantage ( as bowlers cant grip the WET BALL in night ). IMHO, to win Pakistan will have to restrict India to around 170 while India has the potential to chase 200!

Pakistan need to experiment their youngsters during this series as this going to be one sided in favor of Pakistan. Pakistan can take this series as a practice series in order to face stronger teams like South Africa, Australia, England and Bangladesh in the future.

PAKISTAN Vs INDIA this is what, cricket is all about. No dought england-australia started cricket but INDO-PAK make it colourful, intresting, memorable, and made records that never might be broken by the cricketer outside asia. Afridi made 102 of just 37. Saeed anwar played biggest ODI innings of 194. Then little master broken it by his brillant knok of 200*. And then veeru lift flag of record by his 219. So who is going to say that indo-pak is inportant just like asshes. Nevvveerrr.... INDO-PAK saries is bigger bigger than any other...! Best of luck.. Hoping for good cricket all around.

sachin_and_others totally agree with you brother, we should post reasonable comments without crossing the moral limits... I expect supporters of India and Pakistan to give respect to one another, enjoy the cricket in good spirit and not hurting each other feelings by using foul language against each other.... we the people of two countries can close the gap among us....

@vqureshi: What happened there? This has always been a problem with fans like you, taking your frustration out on something that has nothing to do with cricket at all. Since when did not playing against your arch rival became a source of pleasure and satisfaction for you and your so called media? "Took the first flight to India", I'll tell you why that is, its because the rival isn't brave enough to get out of its den and face us at home or UAE, thats why we had to go in. Now take your crappy political commentary somewhere else, this is cricinfo not politicinfo.

Posted by cric_mojo on (December 25, 2012, 5:10 GMT)

India's woes are attributed to poor bowling, no second thoughts, their struggle will continue until selectors do or forced to do an average job. Indian bowlers threatening to run through opposition .... seems a nice & distant fairy-tale.

Posted by Naeem578 on (December 25, 2012, 4:59 GMT)

@jimbond: A very nice and rational comment from you. There are very few indian fans like you who are not living in the imaginary hype world of indian media. And you are absolutely right that Pak batting is not so weak now a days as is described from most of the people. It is just that their performances are under estimated due to brilliance of spin of Pak which has won matchs for them in the recent past. Pak batsmen may be average but not as bad as some people think. Good Luck Paki Shaheens!

Welcome and million thanks to the Pakistani team and fans for coming over to India. All the very best to both the teams. I hope to see hard and fair cricket from both the teams. A great day for Asian Cricket. India and Pakistan need each other only for their own cricket as well as the world cricket. Most importantly, in recent times in the build up to every series, fans of each team have used very harsh words for each other and opposition players but this time fans of both these teams are backing other. Keep it up guys irrespective of the outcome of the series. Remember if India and Pakistan are together then they are unbeatable in both on and off the field. Enjoy the series.

Posted by Timmuh on (December 25, 2012, 4:37 GMT)

In terms of cricket, pointless. Just meaningless 20 and 50 over stuff. In terms of politics, inside and outside cricket, this is massive. Any relations between India and Pakistan are important to the world, not just the sub-continent. Finally meeting again in bilateral series of the national sport of both countries is a huge positive sign. Of course, it doesn't impact directly on the issues between the two nations, but migh signify just a slight softening of the bitterness that many seem to feel. While the results are utterly unimportant, that the games will be played gives a flicker of hope in one of the most dangerous disputes in the world. I hope it goes without a hitch and fans (and political leaders) of both nations enjoy the series in good spirit.

Posted by   on (December 25, 2012, 4:25 GMT)

Looking forward to a tight contest as usual. Both the teams have ample talent and resilience but on the given day, who hold the nerves will clinch the issue. Instead of feeling bitter towards India for boycotting matches, Pakistan need to introspect why no team in the world feel safe to play in Pakistani conditions. The solution lies with Pakistan Cricket Board and their Government.

Posted by thisisfun on (December 25, 2012, 4:22 GMT)

unpredictability suits T20 best. So todays game is anybody's game. It could be India's game if we bat well or it could be Pakistan's if they bowl well.

Posted by henchart on (December 25, 2012, 3:59 GMT)

Indian team has gone to dogs with or without SRT and their Performance in tests has been abysmal and proof .India and Pakistan would probably split the T20 games and India would take the ODI series 2-1 simply because these days Pakistanis put more pressure on themselves while playing India .In the days of Kapil,Vengsarkar and Shastri it used to be the other way round in that wretched desert venue. But man to man Indians are a better unit than Pakistan.

@vqureshi : I'd not worry too much about getting cricket matches given the immense workload on cricketers; that's rather a good thing to have but our players will play and practice. Indians not picking Pakistani players in IPL is their choice and that should not stop us from playing cricket with them though I'd say it brings a bad name to India's reputation as a sporting nation; clearly if you want to make a political point, you should just be honest and say "we are not playing Pak cricketers because of the political issues" and then everyone will understand.

Posted by AndyZaltzmannsHair on (December 25, 2012, 3:25 GMT)

@vqureshi: And this series IS happening, in spite of people like you. And your bitterness. Don't worry about our future tour schedule, we've got the Aussies lined up in the FTP along with Eng (ironic that still so many of our pak cricketers are in demand for county and english t20 leagues) and we've got SA start of next year. If you don't care for this tour, don't watch. Simple as that.

Posted by vqureshi on (December 25, 2012, 3:03 GMT)

I wouldn't exactly classify the "happening" of this series as a gargantuan achievement for the PCB or for Mr. Zaka. The Indians have categorically rejected playing Pakistan, even on neutral venues, and yet the ever so desperate Pakistanis took the first available flight to India as soon as they got a green signal. Also, it seems unlikely that any Pakistani player would feature in the forthcoming IPL either. Even the usually congenial Sunil Gavaskar have voiced concerns about playing Pakistan, a suggestion that was received quite amicably by the Indian media. What's more, the Aussies haven't scheduled to host Pakistan until 2016. And given what inspired in England during the 2010 tour, don't think they would be laying down the red carpet for the Paksitanis anytime soon.

Posted by jimbond on (December 25, 2012, 2:31 GMT)

I suspect Indian batting is a bit weaker than usual, and Pakistani batting is slighly stronger than usual. Indian bowling is the key. It is weak, but the key player for me in the Indian side is Yuvraj- who is really the joker in the pack as far as T20 is concerned. Yuvraj has problems with both batting and bowling in longer forms of the game, but in T20, he can turn any game on its head with either batting or bowling.

The Pakistan team plays so little that the outside world doesnt get to see much of them. I am sure, it will be the new guys in the team- who will be the real performers- as is usual in Pakistan. It is always exciting to see new Pak talent. I hope the Indian selectors also blood a few new guys into the team, so that we can see something other than the usual stuff.

for the first time as a neutral person its hard to predict who is the strong contender for this series. Pak batting and indian bowling is weak which is a balancing both sides. but the team who handles that pressure will win and i think Pak will be under more of that.

I anticipate current short series to enchant cricket admirers all over the world. India has a poised team, home ground advantage and mass media on their side. Simultaneously Pakistan team despite all their shortcomings of having not played in their home grounds has colossal expanse of aptitude in both bowling and batting. Confronting them as a team is an arduous task not only for team India but across the board. As a dedicated cricket fan ,I predict a good enjoyable series.

Posted by Lahorian_Ruluez on (December 24, 2012, 19:48 GMT)

Arguably indian team seem to be somewhat pressurized given their recent performances. Given the indian MEDIA have been on their case, leaving no stone UN-turned to ensure full accountability. There're echoes to replcae MS Dhoni. In the wake of all this, Pak stand a good chance to BANK on it. Having said that it will be test of nerves of Prof. XI. Pak opening has to deliver with the likes of N Jam, Akmalz, !!!

Posted by Zeshan547 on (December 24, 2012, 19:33 GMT)

It will be one hell match, but who will be victorious is hard as ever to predict, victory plan is simple for both teams, for Pakistan bat 1st and score 160+ and they have all the talent in the world to defend it, for India just reduce Pakistani total as much as possible, and then chase whatever target Pakistan set to chase, but when it's India vs Pakistan things often not go according to plans, and this is the actual beauty of Indo-Pak Clash,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Good Luck To Both Teams, From A True Cricket Lover!

Posted by dmqi on (December 24, 2012, 19:19 GMT)

Pakistan will loose because of two reasons, a. stupidity of Pak captain , for bad team selection which he often does, b. India has better batsmen and WK keeper. I know I will be right in T20.

I don't think there is need of bowlers in Indian team. The Indian bowlers are not able to take wicket as well as to stop runs and compare to them Indian part timer are and will do better job such as Yuvraj, Raina, Jadeja. It will be best not a better, if Indian team selecter will select squade without bowlers excepting Ashwin. I hop they will listen my suggestion today or tomorrow.

Abhishek Purohit, you're mistaken about one thing, Sir. "Hatred"? Those old fashioned narrow minded days are gone, my friend! We have rivalry between India and Pakistan, but there is enough mutual friendship and respect too. I don't think we're crazy like the older generations to hate each other for no reason. I don't know a single Indian who would not welcome Pakistan to come and play. Of course we know the issues that stand in the way of a deeper investment of trust between the nations, but when it is time for cricket, we don't carry any of that into the enjoyment of the game. Just go back to the articles describing Yuvraj's immensely difficult journey after the WC and you'll know what I'm talking about.
