I think Alex400 has not watched the last ODI carefully. It is beyond me how Misbah is being blamed for playing a slow inning on a track where mighty Indians could not play complete 50 overs. It was a very difficult pitch to bat on. It required patience and grafting. Misbah did both. He was patient. He not only played the role of anchor sheet but contributed with 39 runs. How can you blame Misbah for slow innings when he and Umar Akmal got out, Pakistan's required run-rate was well below 5.5. It does look like a fixed match if you look at the way Umer Akmal got out. Pakistan needed 44 runs and had 66 deliveries. Umar Akmal knew that along with Hafeez, he is the last recognized batsman, yet he went into the middle of the crease and gifted his wicket to India. Why would any player in the world go in the middle of the pitch to get stumped when the equation is 44 off 66 balls?
People need to understand these two young bowlers are not wasim akram and waqar younis. They are ok. Just young and energetic. Nothing special. If they play another 20 matches they will be nothing just like all indians bowlers were. Because each indian have a goal of playing for india , once achieve that their goal is done. It is time to occupy and play for spot not to excel and hurt and lose the spot. Issue is this. All young indian players are just young but there is nothing physically. They are not stronger bonewise or dietwise or gymculture.Once all the liquid in joints evoporate they will be limping. I can't blame them, it is whole society issue. I feel a country is great when common man has multiple options. I feel multiple choice means growth and evolution of a society. What i am saying is Pakistan deliberately lost the game. Period.
Misbah and pakistan won series 2-1. My gut feeling say he is fixing matches. He deliberately batted slow in semifinal to lose the game. Pakistan means aggression in attitude , with misbah he caves in too many times to my liking. if pakistan went after indian bowlers whole thing would have been over by 40th over. I am not sure he bring calmness but i can say bring brain freeze to pakistan. I am not sure hafeez is the answer or shoaib malik. They are good contributors. Younis khan better captain. I think Nasser jamshed or junaid khan can be future captain. Shahid afridi is better bowler in ODI. I never seen afridi went wicketless in ODI matches. I think they should get rid of akmals. Umar akmal learn to build inning first. I used to see javed mianded and salim malik score runs in singles like dhoni does now...why not pakistan run for every ball? Pakistan has smart coach but they need better captain.
@Alex, Misbah was not the captain of WC Afridi was, true his innings in semifinal was painful but he ran out of partners. And he wasn't even in the T20 squad. Having said that, inspite of his sometime painfully slow innings he is the best thing that has happened to Pakitan's cricket for a long time, it is the healthy environment mainly created by him and supported by sincere seniors like Younis and Hafeez and Afridi that the talents like Junaid, Nassir and Azhar Ali are expressing themselves. Before his time it was crimes, infighting and volatility that was surrounding Pakistan's team. As a Pakistan supporter more important thing for me is he bring back the respect, and produce results that are better than their talent potential. Notice that now Pakistan team play with positive, aggressive but yet polite attitude and hardly gets involved in anything negetive not even minor fines.
He will be in media all the time he wins. But this is first time indian team fought. I think key was bowlers. No one else. They had two fighting young bowlers feed off on crowd energy. People say fielding won the game. For me i think crowd energy was the key and also two young bowlers were did their part not leaking runs as all indian bowlers do. Also it was pakistan game to lose. Misbah is worst captain ever. I am not sure why pakistan keeping him when lost t20,50 over world cup and now by poor strategy especially his batting is awful. He is a traitor to pakistan. I am indian i rather win game in right way. Pakistan gifted this one.
