Pakistan in India T20I Series - 2nd T20I

India v Pakistan

India won by 11 runs

Gautam Gambhir and Ajinkya Rahane are opening the innings for India. They added 77 in the first game before the slide began. Gambhir to face, Mohammad Irfan running in from over the wicket. Two slips in place. A decent crowd in despite the 5pm start on a weekday.

There's a hold-up because Gambhir's not pleased about something behind the bowler's arm. Irfan's arm comes from really high up too.

Toss, 4.30 pm Mohammad Hafeez has won it again and Pakistan are bowling once again, an expected decision given the dew later in the evening. Pakistan are playing an unchanged team.

MS Dhoni said India would have bowled as well, but hopes the 5pm start will reduce the amount of game time played in dewy conditions. India have made one change - Ravindra Jadeja is out and in comes the offspinner R Ashwin. So India are playing four specialist bowlers.

What's common to Ian Chappell, Allan Donald, Sachin Tendulkar, Martin Crowe and Garry Sobers? They're all in Talking Cricket, a collection of the best interviews to appear on ESPNcricinfo, Cricinfo Magazine and Wisden Asia Cricket magazine. Out soon in hardback.

4.15 pm Good afternoon and welcome to ESPNcricinfo's ball-by-ball coverage of the second Twenty20 between India and Pakistan, in Ahmedabad. Pakistan lead the series 1-0 after their last-over victory in Bangalore and have the opportunity to win it. The toss is at 4.30 in Motera, just enough time to read Siddharth Ravindran's preview of the match.

Pakistan came back from difficult positions twice to win in Bangalore, after India's openers had made a strong start, and after their top order crumbled in the chase. India might consider playing a fourth specialist bowler - and use Ravindra Jadeja's left-arm spin as a fifth option - after they were found short of attacking options.

The pitch looks pretty flat and is likely to stay that way through the match, but Wasim Akram, on Star Cricket, is concerned about the possibility of dew later this evening. He reckons the captain that wins the toss will want to chase. The groundsman has used a chemical spray to try and reduce the effect of the dew.

Umar Gul to Raina, 1 run, nudged off the boots behind square

19.5

Umar Gul to Dhoni, OUT, middle stump is flat on its back. Dhoni tries to run a yorker from just outside off towards third man and plays on. Gul's bowling a terrific final over. Only three runs off the first five balls.

MS Dhoni b Umar Gul 33 (39m 23b 4x4 0x6) SR: 143.47

19.6

Umar Gul to RG Sharma, 1 no ball, Gul, what have you done? He's over-stepped off what should have been the final ball of the innings. It was a full toss down leg side and Rohit did not connect with the paddle

19.6

Umar Gul to RG Sharma, FOUR, a costly error indeed. Rohit makes room and carves a full ball high over point, the ball bounces just inside the boundary

India finish with 192 for 5, a formidable total indeed even though the outfield is fast and the pitch is flat. I wonder what sort of a role the dew will have. The chase is only a few minutes away.

End of over 20 (8 runs) India 192/5
RG Sharma    4* (2b 1x4)      Umar Gul    4-0-37-4
SK Raina    1* (1b)      Saeed Ajmal    4-0-42-0
