Pakistan in India ODI Series - 3rd ODI

India v Pakistan

India won by 10 runs

Right, Rahane and Gambhir are walking towards the middle. The lights are on. Mohammad Irfan to start. Two slips in place

Beanies, fleeces, scarfs, down jackets, fancy warm hats, arctic gloves - they are all out in Delhi. 5 degrees was the lowest temperature I played cricket in and I came back with a sore finger after just stopping the ball at square leg. Good luck to these guys.

Farmanjani: "cold weather dosn't matter in cricket.Becoz if the pitch dosn't spport batsmans than their blood pressure goes high otherwise the bowler's blood pressure goes up.So once the game starts players automtically fells warm."

A few Pakistani fans in the crowd - certainly more than there were in Kolkata or Chennai.

Madhav makes a point for all you stat-mongers: "When was the last time team India was playing one match and Sachin playing a different one ?? #Jan6th2013"

Mumbai, btw, are two down and Tendulkar is in at the Wankhede. For all those close to the stadium in Mumbai, time to run in. There is not entry ticket for Ranji matches so there's nothing to stop anyone.

Gowri: "@Madhav, thats when Ind Pak played in Toronto when Sachin was sent to Commonwealth games in Malaysia"

Toss: India have won the toss and they will bat first. Dhoni is fit to play. Sehwag and Dinda are out. In come Ajinkya Rahane and Shami Ahmed. Misbah says this is like being in Lahore. Azhar Ali makes way for Umar Akmal and that is Pakistan's only change.

Raheel: "Just imagine 7 foot 1 inch giant sitting on a camel given by the minister, riding it in his home town Gaggu Mandi, Punjab." ..

Mustafa: "@Xaideez Only the lucky ones get to sleep the evening before. I've been doing homework all day and now have to stay up all night for this. Wouldn't miss it for the world though"

"Very Disappointing - This was the best time to try the likes of Haris Sohail, Anwar Ali and Zulfiqar Babar out. This is primarily why we discovered Saeed 'The magician' Ajmal at the age of 30 and not 24," Disappointed Veteran is not very happy with Pak's team changes.

(Dhoni has two layers on!)

Pitch Report: Slow and flat wicket, dew later. Wasim Akram thinks it is a win toss field first wicket. Ravi Shastri thinks India, under pressure, would want to bat first.

Justin: "Its HIGH time that we criticize a person, let there be some moral support from us as well. Its just not a one man's game, its 11 people in one team, their management and above all we the supporters. I wonder how it would have been if the game of Cricket had been Outsourced. Never ever the manager gets to be blamed."

Anwar: "all the players would take all catches in their caps!" That is not allowed in cricket sir. Is it five runs everytime? I am not sure, but you can't take catches using a cap.

Raheel from Canada: "i am sitting here at an oil rig close to antartica... -35 celcius plus the wind... and waiting for pak - india contest to warm me up.... and you guys are complaining about the weather...i will cheering without a t-shirt if i am at the stadium..." (Like Canada and Antartica are as close as Delhi and Lahore!! Ha)

11.00 am: Three degrees it is in Delhi this morning, but that is not enough to deter the hoards of people who have already taken their seats. Good morning and welcome to our coverage of the third ODI in Delhi. Pakistan have already won the series and they would be aiming to inflict a whitewash on India, something none of the current players have seen at home.

The teams are out on the field and they look dressed up for a ski-slope. Dhoni, after all that talk about the soreness of his back yesterday, is kicking about the football. But the players haven't really taken their hands out from their pockets. If it stays like this, fielding could be one painful experience here. For a fact, this is not the first time Kotla is hosting an international in January.

"Lets give the chance to Shami Ahmad. There is no doubt that they have not played up to their potential. All the batsman looked in hurry," says Mohd. Sabih.

Aravind: "Dhoni is kicking the football around? I was really hoping to see Kohli do some captaining today!"

Meanwhile, Amjad wants to see the talented Anwar Ali: "I really wish they throw in the new bowler 'Anwar Ali' into today's match. I've been waiting to watch him play since i've seen his youtube video of the U-19 World Cup final against India."

"Sitting here in New York and its 1 am, would def not want to see a white-wash but might be a blessing-in-disguise for Indian cricket in future, feel hard for MS though, a fantastic cricketer let down by his team," says Shivang. And we thought this was a dead-rubber.

Dr. Tam: "Most of the Pak players hail from Lahore( which is not far from Delhi). Moreover Pak played 2 practice ODI at Lahore in similar whether, do they should be really feeling at home in these freezing conditions. Expect some fireworks today to warm things up folks."

Meanwhile, a provincial minister has announced a special prize for each member of the Pakistani team. Guess what?

Deepak: "At the time when everyone's position is questioned, the last things Dhoni will do is to give the captaincy to Kohli and wicketkeeping position to DK. Am sure he will play today."

Mustfeez from Pakistan: "Let's hope Dhoni do well for India, he is a good captain and have won matches for India. Indian fans and media are just going hard on him."

"Delhi ever seen snow? any local "live nearby' weather expert?" says Nik. I am not sure about that, but if it happened today, it would certainly make the match a spectacle and would give some speed to some of the slow players. But I wonder how they would turn back..

Xaideez: "@Shivang and all "We here in North America ....Plan for these matches... like we sleep in evening and wake up before match to make sure.. we've enough energy to awake whole night ...and certainly it hurts when you see your team loosing""

Rafi: "Call India A bowlers from Palam Ground to Firozshah Kotla to save India, They are doing fabulous job against England XI"

Nouman: "alongwith Nasir Jamshed I have already completed my 100th msg for this match.. It would be difficult for Nasir to score 100 today (thanx for low score) Can I be Cricinfo Man of series." I think you might be the top 100, there's one guy who has sent in thousands.

Imran: "The only way India can win this match, if Pakistani bowling attack is allowed to bowl to team pakistan."

Patrick: "Thoughts of Zidane coming out of retirement to lead the French football team comes to mind. Wonder if any such thoughts are floating in the minds of Sachin, Dravid and Ganguly?"

Rajeev: "This is why Pakistan fans are so good -- some of the most graceful comments even in the face of a massive, massive victory. There's no shame in losing to a much better side (although here we have been absolutely terrible, without taking any credit away from Pakistan) but kudos to Pakistan: some of the best fans out there, and you can notice this in the comments section too!"

Alex sledges from New Zealand: "you know that your national team is in trouble when your only success in a home season is a series win against New Zealand..."

Javed: "At the start of the tour I just hoped. I knew the Indian batting line up could blow us out at any moment of their choosing. After 1st T20 I was pleasantly surprised. In the 2nd T20 I admired Pakistan's determination. But from 1st ODI I started to believe we really had a quality bowling line up that the Indians were beginning to fear. Half way through the 2nd ODI I believed in Pakistan to win. And now Pakistan could be on the verge of a historic ODI white wash. Still a long way to go to challenge SA and Aus but Pak are back!"

Brendan: "@Alex, i thought i was the only New Zealander watching this."

Gav: "Hang on!! There's 2 New Zealanders!"

India's poor run with the bat continues. The start wasn't very different from the previous two matches as the top-order had no answers against the Pakistan pacers. That was not the end of their troubles, as Mohammad Hafeez picked up Yuvraj Singh's wicket and then Saeed Ajmal ran through the bottom half like a hot knife on butter. We will be back soon for Pakistan's chase as they look to complete a whitewash.

Ahmad: "Come on India, even Pakistani fans are disappointed at your performance. we want some thrilling contest.Lets see if Pakistani batsman can help you in making it a thriller."

Ankur: "Deja vu... India losing while Sachin scores a century. "

Rashid: "What has happened to Team India? The current predicament of the team makes even a Pakistani fan feel sorry. No spirit, drained body-language and weak coordination! For me, the balling isn't to be blamed that much, it is the batting that has let India down. The batsmen should know that they need to perform on difficult tracks too, not only in IPL or on juicy-wickets. There are some serious structural and technical changes required to rejuvenate the Indian side. Perhaps, the proceedings can begin by changing the coaching staff."
