2.25pm Ratty from St Kitts and Nevis sends an all-caps mails demanding Kieran Powell's inclusion.
Joy Bajaj: "WI need to think out of the box. Sammy must send Andre Russell in at no. 3 as a surprise pinch-hitter. He's a useful batsman who won't get to contribute much at no. 8." Not a bad idea.
And see whether this Queensland v Victoria scorecard from the Shield game today remind you of any other game.
2.20pm Arun Shankar: "Is playing Abhimanyu Mithun a sign of his inclusion in the tour to Australia? Has the selectors played a hand in today's XI." 'We'll know in a few hours, Arun.
Rahul Paharia: "West Indies now have seven players who are capable of bowling 10 overs each. Very very strange that they decide to drop a batsman to bring in a new bowler."
"Are we open to discussing the inclusion of Agarkar as a replacement for PK?" Prat and others who sent in similar mails - NO.
Puneet Barjatya: "@kanishka , forget ramdin at 6 !! pollard is at 5 , thinner than paper this batting line-up."
2.10pm Qasim Anwar: "Why is Aaron out? Thought he was doing good." Sehwag says they wanted to give him a break, and the management probably wanted to give Mithun a game as well.
Ranjit: "Why is Sehwag obsessed with bowling first? Why why why??" Sehwag might reply, "It's not me, it's dew" - incidentally the title of an old Aakash Chopra article on dealing with dew.
Kanishka: "West Indies look very thin on batting..Ramdin at 6!! They are kidding themselves." Fear not, when Rampaul is at hand. But, on a more serious note, their top-order needs to click today. Ramdin at No. 6 and Sammy at 7 doesn't inspire much confidence.
2.00pm Toss Sehwag spins it, and he wins the toss. A huge roar from the stands, India will bowl. He cites the dew as one of the reasons for choosing to chase. One change for India: Abhimanyu Mithun in for Varun Aaron.
Sammy says it's about seizing the moment after creating opportunities to go on top. Much talked-about mystery spinner Sunil Narine will make his debut. For more about him, read this story from a couple of months ago, when Narine was bamboozling batsmen in the Champions League T20.
West Indies have included Narine at the expense of opener Adrian Barath. Interesting move that.
1.55pm West Indies have some decisions to make. How can they fit in a spinner in their line-up, surely they won't go in again with Marlon Samuels as their lone tweaker.
Talking of decisions, India's selectors will pick the replacement for the injured Praveen Kumar for the Australia Tests. Who will they go for? Kanishkaa Balachandran looks at the contenders.
1.50pm Large crowds turned up for the first two one-dayers but today's match is at one of the bigger cricket centres in India, and it is blazing hot. Will the fans turn up? Read Tariq Engineer's story on crowds in the series so far.
Parthiv Patel will finally get a chance to play an ODI at his hometown today, but this is probably his last chance. One more failure and he may not make the cut for the remainder of the series.
Sunil Gavaskar says the pitch is a batting beauty, and that he wouldn't be surprised if 600 runs are scored today.
1.40pm It's game three of the one-day series between India and West Indies. Can the visitors finally win a match on this tour? Defeat today in Ahmedabad will give India their 12th straight one-day home win.
There's still 20 minutes to go for the toss, time you could spend reading the preview to the game, Tony Cozier's thoughts on the series and Sidharth Monga's take on the race between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for the only spot remaining in the Test middle order.

OUT,
the end of Simmons? the umpires are conferring about a caught-behind chance, they want the third umpire to confirm the edge carried to the keeper, it was a short of length ball that is a slightly wider than the previous two deliveries, Simmons fishes at it outside off, definite edge, many replays needed here, on the first replay I thought it landed on Parthiv's fingers, the third umpire wants about a dozen replays to be sure, and he finally decides that carried, a rare ODI failure for Simmons this year

David Mammen sends in a mail I completely agree with: "People need to understand that wicket keepers are in the side predominantly for their batting! Stop calling for Uthappa and Rayadu to keep wickets for the national side. They are called part time wicket keepers. They dont even keep wickets for the state side. Just because they kept wickets in the IPL it doesnt make them good wicket keepers. If you analyse their wicket keeping performance in the 20 overs they make too many mistakes. Example of that is Rayadu, last champions league t20"
Sumith: "Dinesh Kartik !! The man deserves a slot in the team. He has more experience than any of the keepers and is a solid bat. I wonder why he's ran out of contention !" He did get quite a few chances, and never did enough to become a permanent member of the side.
Nitin: "the value of Parthiv is outside sub-continent on the bouncy pitches, as he can handle short pitch stuff really well. In subcontinent, take your pick it does not matter..."

Last seven overs 93 runs. West Indies have reached 260, a score which looked way out of their reach not too long ago. Well, that was breathtaking stuff from Sammy and Russell, exposing what has traditionally been a problem for India - the death overs.
Every batsman except Simmons got a start for West Indies, but they couldn't get out of first gear for much of the innings. Even during the batting Powerplay they couldn't get going, getting only 19 runs in those five overs. Then their chances dimmed further as they lost both their set batsmen, Ramdin and Pollard, before the Sammy-Russell show. The inexperience of the Indian quicks showed, offering too many length deliveries, or flinging in full tosses.
260 is a decent total, but is it enough? The Indian chase starts around 6.30pm. See you then.
