West Indies in India ODI Series - 1st ODI

India v West Indies

India won by 6 wickets (with 88 balls remaining)

0.2

Kumar to Gayle, OUT, is he gone?! Umpire Rod Tucker was not looking, even he must have thought there couldn't be action so soon, but there is! The third umpire confirms it. Gayle is also on the floor, grimacing rather badly. He had dabbed the length ball which got exaggerated seam movement away from the batsman and ran. Bhuvi rushed to the ball and broke the stumps direct and found the batsman short of his ground. Gayle's momentum forced him to take an awkward tumble, trying to get his bat out of the way. He landed badly on his knee and the stretcher is out and Gayle is being carried out of the field

CH Gayle run out 0 (1m 2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

West Indies 0/1   J Charles 0* (0b)   B Kumar 0.2-0-0-0

10.4

Jadeja to Charles, OUT, dives full length and he's caught it! He held it back just a touch and Charles was lured into the shot. He's been driving on the up and has had great success with it, but not this time. Jadeja lures the leading edge, takes a couple of steps and dives horizontally to his left and holds on!

J Charles c & b Jadeja 42 (49m 34b 7x4 1x6) SR: 123.52

West Indies 65/2   MN Samuels 22* (28b 2x4 1x6)   RA Jadeja 0.4-0-2-1

13.2

Raina to Samuels, OUT, that kept too low! And the batsman had no chance. It was a simple length ball and he was justified in moving back to play the cut, but the ball scuttled well beneath the bat and hits the very base of middle stump

MN Samuels b Raina 24 (55m 35b 2x4 1x6) SR: 68.57

West Indies 77/3   DM Bravo 10* (9b 1x6)   SK Raina 1.2-0-2-1

27.1

Raina to Simmons, OUT, full and on middle and leg as Raina hits the front pad of Lendl. Raina instantly goes up, and after some deliberation, the umpire raises his finger. Replays show, however, that this one was definitely going down the leg side. Unlucky for Lendl, but India would be mighty pleased to see the back of him

LMP Simmons lbw b Raina 29 (45m 40b 1x4 1x6) SR: 72.50

West Indies 142/4   DM Bravo 42* (52b 4x4 1x6)   SK Raina 6.1-0-22-2

31.2

Raina to Deonarine, OUT, fuller length ball which straightens upon pitching as this one keeps low to beat the sweep shot from Deonarine and clatter into the off stump to have him dismissed for just 4

N Deonarine b Raina 4 (12m 14b 0x4 0x6) SR: 28.57

West Indies 152/5   DM Bravo 48* (63b 4x4 1x6)   SK Raina 8.2-1-27-3

37.5

Mohammed Shami to DM Bravo, OUT, 133 kph shooter and it shot through to rattle off stump. Lil B cannot believe he has been done in like that. Walks back with a 'Why me?' expression on his face as Shami keeps this ball on a length and it misbehaves quite badly, sneaking along at shin high to beat his defences

DM Bravo b Mohammed Shami 59 (95m 77b 4x4 2x6) SR: 76.62

West Indies 183/6   DJ Bravo 20* (25b 1x4 1x6)   Mohammed Shami 3.5-0-24-1

38.3

Jadeja to DJ Bravo, OUT, rush of blood from this West Indies captain as well! Horrible shot as he races down the pitch with the intention of murdering the ball, but Jadeja turns it right across him and Dhoni does the rest, demolishing all three stumps

DJ Bravo st †Dhoni b Jadeja 24 (32m 28b 2x4 1x6) SR: 85.71

West Indies 187/7   DJG Sammy 0* (1b)   RA Jadeja 5.3-0-29-2

44.1

Jadeja to Sammy, OUT, his patience runs out. The spinners were too tempting for him as he lofts the full length ball speared into his pads. It has height, but lacks in distance as long-on steadies himself under it and takes a safe catch. Sammy hangs his head while Jadeja clasps his palms together in thanks

DJG Sammy c Kumar b Jadeja 5 (23m 16b 0x4 0x6) SR: 31.25

West Indies 204/8   JO Holder 12* (19b 2x4)   RA Jadeja 8.1-0-35-3

45.4

Ashwin to Narine, OUT, oh, what a gift. He was playing against the line of the ball, even if it was outside leg stump, and gets a leading edge. The ball lobbed in the air and Ashwin had all the time in the world to get underneath that. On a pitch that is turning and bouncing inappropriately, you have to play with the spin and with a straight bat

SP Narine c & b Ashwin 0 (5m 6b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

West Indies 206/9   JO Holder 14* (22b 2x4)   R Ashwin 8.4-0-41-1

48.5

Ashwin to Rampaul, OUT, and that is all she wrote as Rampaul goes for the bit hit and is caught in the deep on the leg side. He dragged the tossed up ball from well outside off stump, which cut his timing down to considerable extents. Shikhar Dhawan made excellent ground from long-on as he ran to his left and held on to a good catch

R Rampaul c Dhawan b Ashwin 1 (11m 14b 0x4 0x6) SR: 7.14

West Indies 211/10   JO Holder 16* (27b 2x4)   R Ashwin 9.5-0-42-2
