West Indies in India ODI Series - 2nd ODI

India v West Indies

West Indies won by 2 wickets (with 3 balls remaining)

Set for the start in Vizag. Dhawan and Rohit walk out to open. West Indies are done with whatever they do nowadays in that huddle. Ravi Rampaul jogs in to the crease to get himself going, and will bowl with the first new ball

1 pm Dwayne Bravo wins the toss and West Indies will bowl

Dwayne Bravo says West Indies don't know how the pitch will behave as it's been covered for a few days. They're also expecting dew in the evening. Kieran Powell is in for Gayle, and Veerasammy Permaul has been included in place of Narsingh Deonarine. So they have sacrificed a batsman for a spinner.

India have one change, Mohit Sharma is in for Unadkat. MS Dhoni says India would have chased as well, as that is what they prefer and also due to the expected dew

Akash Singhal: "@Abhinav: Dhawan, Rohit and Kohli don't consume overs to build up their stats. They have been winning really tough matches for India through some exceptional performances. I agree with the fact that Yuvraj and Raina are not getting too many good opportunities, but this does not mean that u start expecting your top three to underperform so that the middle order can play!"

Richard: "3 years back, On this same Ground, Dhawan made his debut but was out for a 2nd ball duck. I wish he would make up for that in his second outing on this ground."

Nada: "Glad MM Sharma is in. All three bowlers havea great yorker and Shami can produce revrse swing. This looks like best best bowling attack we have on paper in the last few yrs"

Abhinav: "The thing to feel about Raina and Yuvraj is that either there are too many overs that they get to bat because the bowlers are on song and the wicket is tough. Or the wicket is too easy and the likes of Dhawan, Sharma(off late) and Kohli consume almost all the overs up to build up their stats."

Ishan Jain: "The way Windies have played looks like they are more on a holiday with some occasional work at office, rather than a tough touring opponent who want to make a point."

Raghu: "Expecting good discipline bowling and Ravi Rampaul holds the key. If Rampaul and co gets the top 2 and bring yuvraj and Raina as soon as possible still game ON with Sunil Narine bowling in the middle and death!"

Ravi: "Missing Vizag very much today.. have watched every match played in vizag (except today's)... its a beautiful city in this time of the year especially when its not raining... hoping for some 'showers' from indian batsmen.."

Jiten Surtani: "Not sounding pessimistic, but the only reason India is No. 1 in ODI today is because of the top-order. Thats it ! The middle order, excluding Dhoni, isn't inspiring. The bowling department has always been our weakness. So its basically around 6 individuals firing randomly that is getting us through !"

Srini: "With wonderful soccer matches late in the evening today in English Premier League, I prefer Windies batting first, wrap by 200 and Ind chase them by 8 PM..."

Siddartha Khandelwal expects the worst from West Indies again: "I badly want India to bat first. That way i can actually enjoy their batting for 50 overs and see them take 10 wickets rather than the match ending in 35 again."

12.40 pm Cyclone Helen has caused a lot of damage in Andhra Pradesh, but it has blown over now and bright sunshine welcomes us in the port city of Visakhapatnam. No rain forecast for today, and the worry is now cricketing. Will West Indies turn up? Nearly a month since they arrived in India.

While we wait for the toss, which is at 1 pm, have a look at the match preview, which notes that the form of Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh is a worry for India.

West Indies are set for a new opening combination after the injury to Chris Gayle

49.6

Holder to Kumar, 1 run, Holder keeps it full around off final ball and India will get only a single to point

India stalled after the batting Powerplay was taken, scoring only 32 from overs 36 to 45. But Dhoni took 62 off the last five overs to pull them to 288, which Rampaul thinks is 20-25 too many. Yuvraj and Raina disappointing again. Only one of the top three clicked today, for a change, but there will be days when all three of them don't, and Dhoni won't be able to bail India out. He did today, though. Virat Kohli's now missed out on ODI hundreds No 18 and 19 in successive games.

Too many lapses in the field from West Indies, including two dropped catches. There has been turn in this pitch, but dew is also expected.

AnuraagJ: "Never been convinced of Jadeja's position as an all-rounder, his batting is going bad to worse"

Ishan: "Give a chance to Rayudu in the next game please. He deserves it and I think Yuvraj and Raina have got enough opportunities now."

End of over 50 (13 runs) India 288/7
