Anil Kumble has declared himself unavailable for the one-day series against Bangladesh, which starts later this month. VVS Laxman is being rested, while Dinesh Mongia earns another recall. The selectors also decided to try out two fresh faces - Joginder Sharma, the allrounder from Haryana, and MS Dhoni, the wicketkeeper from Jharkhand who is also a swashbuckler with the bat.

Joginder has been a vital part of the Haryana side for the last few seasons, and troubled India's top batsmen with his nippy seamers while playing for India A in the warm-up game before the Australian series. Dhoni has also been a consistent performer in the last few years, and his carefree batting approach has caught the eye.

Sridharan Sriram, who was picked for BCCI's Platinum Jubilee match against Pakistan, has been retained.

The three matches will be played on December 23, 26 and 27.
