Captain Saurav Ganguly's sterling all-round performance in India's crushing nine-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the fourth one-dayer in Kanpur today was blotted after match referee Barry Jarman served notices on him and wicket-keeper Vijay Dahiya for showing dissent to the umpire's decision.
Jarman served notices on the two players under three clauses (C-2, C-3 and C-4) dealing with bringing the game to disrepute, showing dissent to the umpire's decision and intimidating the umpire after Ganguly and Dahiya demonstrated their disatisfaction when umpire CK Sathe turned down their leg before wicket appeals against Mluleki Nkala.
Jarman will announce the penalties tomorrow in Rajkot.
Ganguly made strong lbw appeals against Nkala in the 38th over of the match for what he thought were close calls and along with Dahiya showed deep displeasure when Sathe turned all of them down.
Ganguly was unavailable for comment on the issue.
