Ganguly hints at Dahiya playing first Test

It was another grueling day at the conditioning camp for the India probables at the IIT-Chemplast ground on Sunday. After the morning's training session, India captain Saurav Ganguly spoke to the press. He was very candid in his replies to the volleys of queries put up to him. When asked on to comment on what Steve Waugh has been talking about the upcoming Test series, Ganguly said, "I don't read what Steve says"

A confident looking India captain said that this was a very well organised conditioning camp, with lot of importance given to fielding practice. He was all praise for John Wright for being so committed to the Indian cause. He termed Wright's contribution so far as "outstanding and terrific". The camp will resume after the Challenger Series and go on till February 18.

Ganguly is mighty pleased by the hunger shown by the younger lads at the camp, which is only too good for the future of the game. As for any special training to handle pressure situations, Ganguly answered in the negative. When asked whether a player can be taught to deal with pressure, Ganguly said that, one can only be told how to deal with it and that it would all depend upon the player in the middle at to how he deals with it. When asked about the choice for the wicketkeeper, Ganguly was of the opinion that Vijay Dahiya has done his job well and he sees no reasons for a change.

Ganguly is not relying on any trump cards or any individuals to win the series against Australia. He believes that cricket should always be played as team game and not to rely on few individual performances. The Indian captain was of the view that the Australians will be under tremendous pressure, as they arrive in India with the World champion tag as well as that of the 15 Test victories in a row. He sounded a bit philosophical about the outcome of the series when he said. "May the best team win".
