Indian Premier League - 12th match

Rajasthan Royals v Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders won by 9 wickets (with 9 balls remaining)

1558 Rajasthan have won both their games so far, but they were chasing targets. They'll have to set one and defend today, but they do have a stronger batting line-up to post a challenging score.

"Shakib should not bowl to Watson. I don't want see the repeat telecast of Watson hits against him," says Shuvo.

Shane Watson isn't opening the batting for Rajasthan, which is a bit surprising. Rajasthan have persisted with Amit Paunikar and Rahul Dravid. Brett Lee has the new ball.

1545 Yusuf Pathan faces his old team today. He played the best innings Shane Warne had ever seen in the previous season. And Yusuf backs himself to cane the spinners. Warne will have his plans for his former match-winner.

If you're going to be on the move you can still get score updates on our apps for iPhone and android.

Tait isn't playing, he makes way for Watson. Nayan Doshi replaces Ajinkya Rahane in the Rajasthan XI. Lee replaces Jaidev Unadkat for Kolkata.

Have you played our new cricket game, Howzat yet?

Toss, 1530 Warne spins, Gambhir calls heads and he wins. Kolkata will bowl first. Kolkata are playing four overseas players for the first time this season. Shakib and Lee are in the XI. Ryan ten Doeschate misses out. Don't have a confirmation of Rajasthan's XI yet, you'll know as soon as I do.

1520 Good afternoon and welcome to to ESPNcricinfo's ball-by-ball coverage of the IPL. The first game today is in Jaipur where the home team, Rajasthan Royals, are taking on Kolkata Knight Riders.

Both teams are heavily reinforced. Shane Watson, who's actually two players in one, will slot in for Rajasthan. He's likely to open, after his mauling of the Bangladesh attack, and will bowl four overs. My bet is that he will replace Shaun Tait.

Kolkata welcomed Brett Lee, Brad Haddin and Shakib Al Hasan into their squad. They played only three overseas players in their previous game, so Brett Lee will come in. Shakib will perhaps replaces Ryan ten Doeschate as well.

There are more details in Nitin Sundar's preview.

"Why does the pitch look like they've used a cow to mow the grass...and the cow became full after grazing at the sides," says Sashi. It's a weird looking surface. I lose track of the ball after it bounces, it sort of merges with the colour of the pitch.

Ryan: "I think Warne knows that the key to winning the IPL will be how his young Indian players go. He is smartly giving them experience and time spent in the middle in the heat of battle. Sending Watto out to blast 100 won't do that! I think he wants to get the most out of his players. Hence giving Botha some batting also and I think he will look to get a lot from Watto's bowling and hence will bat him lower."
