Indian Premier League - 15th match

Deccan Chargers v Kings XI Punjab

Kings XI Punjab won by 8 wickets (with 14 balls remaining)

Players are out in the middle. Dhawan and Sohal to open for Deccan. PK has the new ball

Aqeel: "To all those having loyalty issues. One should not support players, but the team. So if one was a Deccan fan before, Gilchrist left to Punjab, shouldn't mean you jump on the KINGS 11 bandwagon."

sri: "All eyes on Valthaty today..."

Gareth: "From memory, David Hussey was the most expensive foreign player, yet he's not being used. Seems like wasted money." Actually, Mahela Jayawardene was, but I think David has to come in to the XI soon.

Just some time to go for the start. Enough to check out Howzat, the online social cricket game.

Kanti: "Where are White and David Hussy? No place for Australi's T20 Team Captain. I would prefer White over Duminy." In the woeful form White is currently in?

Nakeeran: "and Adam Gilchrist is not the only one who says so .........i as a fan say so too.........thank god CSK kept most of their players.......otherwise i would have been utterly confused..........still miss murali and balaji though.........."

Yayathy Raj: "What an Irony, Both the captains were leading the other side last season.(Gilly for Deccan and Sanga for Punjab)" Adam Gilchrist has said that not having so much player churn among the IPL teams could have been much better for the fans as far as loyalty goes.

Deccan and Punjab are both coming off morale-boosting wins that were led by young batsmen, Bharat Chipli and Paul Valthaty. But Deccan clearly have the better bowling attack.

Have a look at Dustin Silgardo's preview while we wait for the start. Deccan are a much more balanced side, he says.

7.30 pm: Adam Gilchrist wins the toss and Punjab will have a bowl on a wicket that has some grass.

Gilchrist: "Does not look like the surface will change much during the game. We had some grass on the wicket in Mohali and it turned out to be a belter. So does not look like this could be a green minefield." Left-arm spinner Bhargav Bhatt has been replaced by seamer Vikramjeet Malik

Sangakkara: "We did got a good job batting in the last game. The win helped a lot. We are playing the same team."

Harris to Steyn, 1 run, full toss around off, Steyn cannot get underneath it and swings it down to long off

19.6

Harris to Ravi Teja, 1 run, good delivery to end, full and outside off stump, squeezed away to point

Paul Valthaty: "On a small ground with short boundaries I have to have some variations. At my pace around 110 kph, I need to have some thing up my sleeve. Jason Gillespie saw me bowl in the nets, I think I impressed him, and he recommended me to Adam."

Dan Christian: "Satisfied with the score. There are runs on this pitch but our fast bowlers will enjoy bowling on it as well."

Well, Valthaty surprised the Deccan batsmen with the slower ones on his way to four wickets. Prevented Deccan from running away to a huge total, but this not a bad score on this wicket. There is some help for the seamers.

End of over 20 (9 runs) Deccan Chargers 165/8
DB Ravi Teja    10* (6b 1x4)      RJ Harris    4-0-31-1
DW Steyn    1* (2b)      PC Valthaty    4-0-29-4
