Indian Premier League - 42nd match

Deccan Chargers v Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders won by 20 runs

Time for the start. Morgan and Kallis will open. Dan Christian has the ball, all set.

Kalyankumar: "With Sanga leaving after some days, I think Deccan is planning to make White as their captain. They are trying desparately to bring him back to form."

Raghu sends us this: "Why is still White playing?.. Why are Deccan so reluctant to drop him??" Sudhir chips in with some word play: "Interesting battle ahead. Lee versus Lee --- Brett Lee versus Chip Lee." Several comments already, questioning the decision to play White.

Kolkata had a miserable campaign in 2009 and a not-so-great one last year but they've managed to turn it around this time. How so? Tariq Engineer has more.

Toss: Sangakkara has won the toss and opted to bowl. Dale Steyn comes in to lead the attack, Harmeet Singh has been left out. Jaidev Unadkat is in for Sreevats Goswami, and Mark Boucher, who replaced the injured Brad Haddin in the squad, has been picked. Nitin Sundar is the bully for this game, and his toss report should be ready soon. Deccan are playing on a ground that hasn't been too kind to them, and they are in need of a somewhat urgent reversal here.

Hello and welcome to Cricinfo's coverage of this game between Deccan Chargers and Kolkata Knight Riders in Hyderabad. A game of slightly greater concern for the hosts, given they have just three wins from eight games while their opponents are currently placed third. Here's the preview by Sriram Veera for the same. The toss is just a few minutes away.

Oh, and by the way, Sourav Ganguly is back. Pune have picked him up and he's their vice-captain.

0.1

Christian to Morgan, 2 runs, run-out appeal, what a start, Morgan appeared to be struggling there, short of a good length outside off, cut it behind point, completed the first one easily, took a chance on the throw for the second, dived full length and Steyn returned an accurate throw, except it was a touch high. Prakash: "I remember in a ODI match in the 1980s, in the second ball of the match in australia bowled by Mcdermott Kris Srikanth came down the track and hit it straight down the ground for a huge siz.. at that time everybody considered Kris a maverik for doing that.. now everybody does it.."

Steyn to Pathan, 1 leg bye, slower one and Yusuf picked it really late, tried to clear square leg but sneaked a leg bye in the end

Yusuf Pathan and Manoj Tiwary have given their team the edge here. Kolkata began steadily, and Gambhir built on the opening stand to put together a good partnership with Kallis. Both fell in quick succession, but Tiwary and Yusuf took over to put up a commanding score, at least to this season's standards. Deccan, who didn't help their cause with a couple of dropped catches, will be under pressure in the chase. Join us in just a bit.
