Big Picture
Both Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab have three matches left in the league stage and two of them are against each other. Daredevils, who have risen to the top of the table on the back of glittering individual performances, will be the favourites. Kings XI, however, have stayed in contention for the playoffs by playing efficiently as a team. They have consistently won away matches - five in a row now - and cannot be taken lightly at the Kotla.
Kings XI's away success includes wins against all the higher-ranked sides apart from Rajasthan Royals and Daredevils. They have benefitted from consistent performances from young players such as Mandeep Singh and Parwinder Awana. Another local player, Gurkeerat Singh, surprised with his last-minute heroics against Deccan Chargers, as Kings XI pulled off their highest chase this season. The turning point for Kings XI has been the absence of Adam Gilchrist due to injury and the arrival of Azhar Mahmood, whose experience and all-round skills provided balance to the side. Since Mahmood's inclusion, the team has won five out of eight matches. They need to win all three remaining games to keep their qualification chances in their own hands, and it is hard to see Gilchrist coming back into a side that looks settled.
Top-placed Daredevils faltered twice in their last three games and their lead at the top of the league has reduced. Virender Sehwag also failed in these games and his form is crucial as they look to build momentum towards the playoff stage.

Players to watch
Kevin Pietersen's departure disrupted Daredevils' batting unit but David Warner announced himself with a century in his second innings. Although he failed against Chennai Super Kings, Warner is always a match-winner
Mandeep Singh is the leading run-scorer for Kings XI this season and he has given solidity to the batting order. His consistency has reduced the dependency on Shaun Marsh and David Hussey.

Posted by@jb633 Tell me something , how did Ashwin make his name in cricket? For your information it started from the very "garbage" you mentioned. Learn to appreciate the game for what it is.
Posted by pai11 on (May 15, 2012, 13:58 GMT)@jb633: although you are perfectly right in noticing that all native bowlers are going for plenty especially in death overs, you must also notice that even international bowlers like Steyn, Delange, Christian, Hilfy, are going out of the park (other than Malinga & Naraine).. so its a overall problem of death bowling rather than any particular bowler.
Posted byGILCHRIST SHOULD play in place of SAINAI... and harris should be dropped
Posted byyes yes Yes...! Punjab look consistent nw....! They hv everychance of breaking delhi's greed...!! They'll make it look very simple today...!!
Posted by jb633 on (May 15, 2012, 13:02 GMT)Can any of the Indian fans see the inherent flaws in this circus. Apart from Ashwin, the native bowlers are going the distance almost inevitably. Any pressure moments with the ball are invariably left to the imports and their own bowlers are simply not improving. The national side will continue to face some bad times if this thing is not halted immediatley. I think it will come to the point where palyers will have to pick between country or franchise. I feel many will pick the latter. Please, for the sake of your own game, abandon this utter garbage.
Posted by stavic786 on (May 15, 2012, 12:58 GMT)Azhar mahmood and david hussey will have to fire again in this crucial match....
Posted by RAJ_CSK on (May 15, 2012, 12:18 GMT)Table Toppers are losing momentum & Mid-Table teams are gaining momentum, Any team (Except PWI & DC) have chance to make it count,I dare to say, once CSK is trough to playoffs, no team can stop them, they are the big stage performers, they perform their best when pressure piles up. Mind my word: it seams like one of the TOP 3 is going to make way for one team in mid table.
Posted by Limin on (May 15, 2012, 12:17 GMT)Who will win today? i think its delhi daredevils
Posted by avani on (May 15, 2012, 11:54 GMT)David Hussey, played a sort of politics. He played as if he is not in any form when Ghilcrist captained. The moment he took over as the captain, he started playing speldidily both in bowling and batting. He looks more committed now. I doubt of Ghilcrist is really still unfit!!!Any how as long as they are winning good for Kings XI. But I want Delhi to win today. Veeru pl play a good innings today.
