CSK became more stronger!!! MI also looks strong on paper but they NEVER have a proper structure thus can't play the same players for every match as CSK does and makes a mess of 11 always. CSK, MI, RCB and KKR are the strongest 4 teams and rest of the field will struggle like a hell to beat this teams. CSK team: 1. MV, 2. A Srikant?/A Mukund, 3. S Raina, 4. Badri, 5. MSD, 6. A Morkel, 7. R Jadeja, 8.D Bravo, 9. R Ashwin, 10. S Jagati, 11. Doug Bollinger. Hell with this team. 3 seamers, 3 spinners and Bat so deep up to No.8 and even No.9 hav a Test Century. MI team: 1. H Gibbs? 2. Sachin, 3. A Rayadu, 4. Rohit, 5. DK, 6. S Yadav? 7. Pollard, 8. H Singh, 9. Malinga, 10. P Ojha, 11. Mitch? Where they fit Munna, Abu Nachiem? RP Singh? Murtaza Ali? T Pereera? R Pieterson? Franklin!!! RCB mulling b/w Murali, Nannes, Dilshan for the 4th overseas place and how long zak will be fit? KKR wasted in Sunil Narine when they hav I Abdulla and Y Pathan. Baz is a good buy.

Mumbai has amassed a significant number of top players. They are so good that their second Xi could be better than some other IPL teams. Tissara PERERA was an excellent buy. He could be Mumbai's Albie Morkel - someone who can open the bowling and bowl at the death as well as strike some devastating blows at the death. MUMBAI has always had a great team on paper but their problem has to be captaincy. I don't think TENDULKAR is neither a good man-manager and I don't think he is a good tactician. Mitchell JOHNSON, OTOH, is not necessarily great a buy. He is an unpredictable bowler and may leak a lot of runs. I am not sure if he will be ready to play this year's IPL and even if he does, he will be coming back after a long absence so he is indeed a RISKY buy for many reasons.

india should patch relations with Pakistan and include them for ipl and play test cricket with them. the likes of ajmal, gul, rehman afridi, razzaq, hafeez, rana naveed, misbah are all good players and have good knowledge in playing in subcontinental conditions unlike other foreign players and will make good additions to the ipl

  • on February 4, 2012, 14:19 GMT

Teams already had enough foreighn players and they could only allow 4 in a game!!!

  • S.Alis on February 4, 2012, 13:33 GMT

@ramAB83: does it matter to lose one more?

  • on February 4, 2012, 12:58 GMT

Number of foreign players gonna turn headache for final team selection . How would KKR choose in between McCullum/kallis/Tendo/Shakib/lee and even haddin and patinson ? Warner , Mahela , KP , Finch , Birt , Mathew wade , Ingram , Van der merwe , Morkel , Russel...DD's foreign player line up looks fab but question is how they are gonna select 4 of them in playin 11 ? same ques. rises for MI with Malinga -gibbs-Mitch-Pollard-Symmo-Franklin-parera and even Jacobs and blizzard in lineup .RCbs gonna have tough time choosing in between Murali-Nannes-Dilshan and lookin at the craze they hav for hard hitters they would prefer dilshan . Plus both Zak and Vinay bein there in team means Arvind wont be havin much chance despite of being RCBs top wkt taker in 2011

  • Karthi_2K11 on February 4, 2012, 12:51 GMT

The 2012 IPL aucton should be re-named as "Cash for Clunkers." (I refer to Obama's kick-start program for the economy which relies on trading in emission-busting and gas-guzzling old cars for new ones) As that one is taken, it would be better to call it the "Rupees for Rubbish" auction. I mean, seriously, except for a few, the rest are being over-paid and are under-achieving. The contrast between the best performng unsold player and the best sold player is so stark, and the chasm is so deep & wide, that they might as well have held a "Dutch Auction" for the sold players. (It means that they bid the price of players down instead of up, and the lowest bidder colludes with the others to unanimously not buy the item, and share the spoils once it is discarded as a non-saleable item.)I think there is a deep-seated grudge by auction participants (as they are Indian captains of industry) against players of certain countries's players, who so happen to be the best. But talent shall will out !

Getting Vinay is a good plaoy for RCB but paying 1Mn for his service is really stupid. I dont think Vinay is ever going to be a match turner or match winner.

In total - Money wasted on Vinay.

  • on February 4, 2012, 10:38 GMT

  • raj60 on February 4, 2012, 10:35 GMT

  • on February 4, 2012, 10:08 GMT

CSK played a very smart move by picking up Ravindra Jadeja.this guy is in brilliant form can prove a big asset for CSK.I think this time too IPL is going to CSK.but why did MI pick RP Singh??? i really don't understand MI's strategies!

  • on February 4, 2012, 10:07 GMT

Nice move from RCB having Vinay in team we can go with another foreign all rounder

  • on February 4, 2012, 9:48 GMT

The awkward moment when Jadeja is paid 2 million and class players like Swann, O'Brian goes unsold, i don't know if i should laugh or cry. Fact is only Indians are really interested in the IPL now.

  • on February 4, 2012, 9:44 GMT

Rp Singh is better than Vinay kumar Rcb should have given $ 1 million to Rp Singh,Vinay Kumar is not worth $ 1 million

  • on February 4, 2012, 9:43 GMT

    eagerly waiting for IPL5

  • on February 4, 2012, 9:43 GMT

wud've been nice to see some utility players like steven smith or luke wright being bought... but nonetheless happy for Vinay!!! welcome home :) :)

  • on February 4, 2012, 9:34 GMT

IPL is no longer an exciting event after the 1st season.Surprised by so much media coverage for such meaningless things.Coverage of Ranji Trophy or Duleep trophy will encourage youngsters to perform better.

  • mano_1987 on February 4, 2012, 9:32 GMT

@salKI forgot mckay, he is a wonderfult20 player missed last season becuase of injury, surprised they didnt go for owias shah

  • rahulcricket007 on February 4, 2012, 9:31 GMT

WOW , 200 COMMENTS FOR IPL SO FAR . ALREADY FORGOT THE WHITEWASH . IT'S TOO EARLY TO FORGET WHITEWASH CHU TIYON .

  • AjitDJ on February 4, 2012, 9:29 GMT

Looks like Deccan Chargers just isn't interested in building a good team and winning the IPL. This is the most planless, aimless management ever.

  • on February 4, 2012, 9:28 GMT

Hogg and Narine before Swann, what??

  • on February 4, 2012, 9:23 GMT

I would recommend, KKR they should go for tamim iqbal or Kevin O'Brien, they need someone solid at middle order & to stable opening stand tamim can be an option.

  • on February 4, 2012, 9:21 GMT

Dont know why MI is getting the stick! They have 5 Quality foreign players with malinga, Pollard, Johnson, Franklin and Blizzard. Symonds is old and i am sure no other franchise would want him. As for RP singh I agree it might be a bad Idea, but the only reason that I think Mumbai went for him was if Munaf is Injured

  • on February 4, 2012, 9:21 GMT

Vinay kumar will definitely give his 100% for RCB...n this is what he has posted in twitter:Back to namma bangalore... Yeee :):) lookng forwrd 2 meet my team mets.... Its a great feelng 2 be part of RCB...

  • on February 4, 2012, 9:21 GMT

Im feeling for endland players :) As they thrash india in england :) BCCI have must mention it to the franchises :)

  • on February 4, 2012, 9:16 GMT

Dear Vinay kumar! plz dont be too happy! stop tweeting and go and practice hard for tmrw's game!

  • on February 4, 2012, 9:02 GMT

wht abt pune players? will they placed in auction on another day

  • on February 4, 2012, 9:01 GMT

the owners dont really have that sense of humour of cricket! they are just goin by names! mahela for 1.4 millio is utter waste while you leave aside kevin obrein and steve smith

  • on February 4, 2012, 9:01 GMT

Shekhar travis birt is in delhi

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:56 GMT

RCB management gave a fitting reply to Vinay's critics ! Vinay is a great buy! He is in great form and has bowled brilliantly in T20I series against Aussies. Best wishes to him!

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:55 GMT

CSK is not that much interested in changing team , i believe that's the strategy they are following this time around too , keeping the same squad.

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:52 GMT

this year its going to be another diamond in the CSK crown... :)

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:51 GMT

Owais Shah,Brendan Taylor and Kevin O Brain are worthy picks.

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:50 GMT

rajasthan did it once again as they baggged chandimal and hogg at lower prices......cheers RR

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:49 GMT

Why is Deccan Chargers so indecisive? They badly need to bolster their team and are bidding for every other player but only have got Parthiv so far.

  • Raam.thestar on February 4, 2012, 8:48 GMT

Tough teams become more tough.. Teams like MI, CSK are now more tough to handle for other teams..

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:48 GMT

    anything for Azhar Mahmood ?

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:47 GMT

where is TRAVIS BIRT....why he is not included in the list....????

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:46 GMT

$10,00,000 for Vinay ? remember he is one of the costliest bowler in terms of giving run of IPL so far. this auction is dull like that of 2008 by RCB and that made got Charu Sharma out of management later. we wont amazed if it happens again here.

  • priceless1 on February 4, 2012, 8:44 GMT

happy for Dinesh Chandimal who currently playing for the country without getting any pay

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:43 GMT

i am not convinced why TRAVIS BIRT is not in IPL

  • FoollyFedUp on February 4, 2012, 8:43 GMT

Vinay is a terrific add for RCB...a total team man and a wonderful T20 player...but a tad expensive...

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:43 GMT

The second session best buy could be Kevin O'Brien, Tamim Iqbal, Brendan Taylor some of the big names remain under shade ,would be an smart pick.

  • asif3k on February 4, 2012, 8:40 GMT

good buy frm CSK but remaining fund is 0$.....so they cant buy othr players?

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:40 GMT

Why didnt they get southee. he the best

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:38 GMT

the player Auction is only worth for CSK,MI,KKR,RCB, rest all always has always under performance this year also CSK,MI,KKR,RCB will come to semi finals KKR a bit ckallenge to DD, my guess

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:36 GMT

owias shah would have been a good pic.He is in amazing form in the Big Bash

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:34 GMT

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:20 GMT

Jadeja for abvoe 2m it's too much.and the buyer will suffer this later on 200%. b'se they buy him this much amount he wan't play his natural game.he loss his game.b'se of they buying like this it's spoil cricket badly.

  • ramAB83 on February 4, 2012, 8:20 GMT

no space for the players who whitewashed indians recently... lol

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:19 GMT

If Narine is at 700,000 and Jadeja at 2M then trust me Saeed Ajmal worth billions. Isn't it??

  • rahulcricket007 on February 4, 2012, 8:18 GMT

IT'S REALLY FUNNY . PLAYERS LIKE VINAY KUMAR WHO DIDN'T EVEN DESERVE A SINGLE RUPPEE ARE SOLD IN MILLION DOLLARS WHILE BIG HITTER LIKE KEVIN O BRIAN REMAIN UNSOLD IN IPL AUCTION . ALSO PLEASE ALLOW PAKISTANI PLAYERS IN IPL . THEY R AN INTERSETING BUNCH TO WATCH .

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:17 GMT

Wht Is going On With DC???. I think DC should Sell There franchise to others. They have no plan no execution.I think DC is the Weakest Team In IPL. They have no Indian Batsmen. Before Entering This Auction They have more Money Compared to others and They didn't Buy Ravindra Jadeja.

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:15 GMT

    is there shahruk in auction

  • VJGS on February 4, 2012, 8:15 GMT

Really heartening to see Jadeja being purchased for the entire purse. After all the effort he has put in and his background, he really deserved it. My guess is that he will replace Saha in the CSK batting lineup. Saha was an average batsman and a good fielder. But, Jadeja is a superb fielder, second only to Raina. He can bowl pretty well, but his batting is still just average. So he is a better T20 option than Saha.

IF YOU WANT BUYERS IN IPL THEN YOU HAVE TO PUT A SHOW IN INDIA EITHER BY INTERNATIONAL CRICKET OR IN CLT20 . SUNIL NARINE WAS VERY GOOD IN CLT20 THAT'S WHY HE HAS BEEN SOLD FOR THIS MUCH AMOUNT WHILE SWANN (NO DISRESPECT FOR HIM , HE IS A GOOD BOWLER) WAS EXPENSIVE IN ODIS IN INDIA .

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:15 GMT

I believe and support CSK' s plan to buy Jadeja for their entire money as a right thing. He is really worth $2m+..............

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:14 GMT

  • Sakthiivel on February 4, 2012, 8:13 GMT

  • rahulcricket007 on February 4, 2012, 8:09 GMT

ALL THOSE FANS WHO R SAYING THAT THEIR IS NO BID FOR ENG & SA PLAYERS LIKE ANDERSON , PRIOR , BELL , PHILANDER . YOU TAKE A LOOK AT THEIR RECORD IN SHORT FORMATS (IN INDIA) THEY R NOT GOOD IN ODIS , T20S . ALSO PJILANDER WAS GOOD IN TESTS BUT IN ODIS HE WAS THRASHED ALL OVER THE GORUND BY SL BATSMEN . HOWEVER I THINK LUKE WRIGHT & KEVIN O BRTIEN SHOULD HAVE BEEN SOLD .

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:09 GMT

Will be a scene to watch when Malinga and Johnson open the bowling for MI. This pair can thrash a top-order in the power-play.

RCB could be ok with that price for Vinay Kumar. They have been a weak bowling team and he is a Karnataka boy.

  • on February 4, 2012, 7:47 GMT

  • on February 4, 2012, 7:44 GMT

Mumbai Indians playing smart .. Robbie Pieterson is a allrounder .. He single handedly won two matches for RSA against us ~ And Royals bid 400k for Sree who is injured .. I would say no proper research done ~

why they are going for narine and not philannder ??? :O : O

  • Kothandaram on February 4, 2012, 7:36 GMT

Jadeja, a good buy for CSK, they needed an all-rounder. they probably have one of the best sides..

  • on February 4, 2012, 7:35 GMT

I can not understand that if clowns like Sri Santh or Vinay Kumaar can get sold for sohigh prices why are Ravi Rampaul,Siddle,Tosmbe or even somany Internationalpalyers can not get sold out. This is purely baised auction.

  • Anjan.G on February 4, 2012, 7:34 GMT

  • on February 4, 2012, 7:33 GMT

With Sahara Pune Warriors exiting, it would be interesting to see what happens to the players and support staff. Lalit Modi would have handled the situation very well.

Why are people worried about Ganguly? I fail to understand. I'm a fan of Dada but I don't care whether he gets sold or not. IPL is not a place for him. He never scored fast and put the team in tight spots or losing situations. Accelerates when the game cannot be won. Known Bad fielder. Move on, people!

  • Hrit24 on February 4, 2012, 7:10 GMT

What Kevin O Brien is unsold? I have lost all my interests in the auction. IPL 5 is going to be dull without him. He could have pleased the crowd with his hard-hitting. And by the way, who are Kolkata Knight Riders bidding for? Whom are they buying?

  • on February 4, 2012, 7:09 GMT

@thisisrakhee Anderson is a great bowler but ineffective in India where the ball doesn't swing as much and not for very long

  • on February 4, 2012, 7:06 GMT

Yes CSK have great allroundar's, that too they have now Jadeja...

  • on February 4, 2012, 7:03 GMT

  • on February 4, 2012, 7:03 GMT

Kevin O'Brien remains unslod while Jadeja getting whooping $2 million !! Brad Hodge still being sold (on advice from his country-mate and Rajasthan coach Darren Lehman). that's really illogical !!!
