Wht goin on to the mind of IPL investor.....I don't realized why some best player in T20 didn't get any chance to those IPLteam . wht abt Owais Shah ,Richard Levi ,Michael Klinger ,Steve O'Keefe ,Kevin O'Brien ,Luke Wright ,Ravi Bopara ,Matt Prior ........they are huge name going to be missed in IPL 2012. I think King XI should go with RAVI, RR shoul go with Owais & O'Brien,DC can go with Klinger..........Think again

IN MY OPINION RAVI JADEJA MUST HAVE A HIGH MICKEY MOUSE VALUE IN THIS MICKEY MOUSE GAME. Where is Malinga and Sanga in the list. Why Tharanga and Mendis not picked? These 4 are match winners rather than some two bit Indian all rounders who cannot make the side as a batsman or a bowler.

People who think IPL does not impact Tests are kidding themselves. These are different forms of game, and very few can do well in both formats. No doubt IPL is entertaining; it better be, given investments listed above. But patriotic Indian fans who have endured recent humiliating losses abroad have the right to think that the very Indian players who make big $$ in IPL don't seem to care to play well for their own country. And that is a shame. If Indian players did well abroad, no one would begrudge their IPL profiles.

I don't understand DC Management Strategy... There is requirement of Indian Batsmen and they just let 2 indian players go without any replacement whatsoever... even in auction once they lost RJ they should have taken laxman..Now there is no sanctity in DC lineup.... Hopefully they will get chance to buy some indian players .. r m sure we DC fans will once again have to see a sad end !

  • SL_Cric on February 5, 2012, 9:10 GMT

Investment for MAHELA ,I hope will be in VAIN..Last time also he was sold for high and his team was among last TWO team bcos he couldnt perform well.. I think if they BUY upul Tharanga instead of Mahela result can be great...

  • fajju09876 on February 5, 2012, 6:32 GMT

  • wAkAs on February 5, 2012, 3:58 GMT

Players unsold, (especially teams unsold - like Pakistan), are the true winners out of this auction.. Its all about money, and once you're into this for it, You're screwed !! Plus, Number of match winners Pakistan have produced over the years is unbelievable and to keep them out is not their loss but the loss of the tournament.. Therefore, i have no regrets ..

  • rokback on February 5, 2012, 2:48 GMT

I agree with Vishal_07.......if you dont like ipl dont watch it.......and dont make ipl as a lame excuse for losing test matches......

  • prafullobo on February 5, 2012, 2:21 GMT

You are kidding me, Jadeja $2 million and Vinay Kumar $1 million. That is an utter waste of money. I think these teams have lost their minds. I am surprised Swann, Mendis, Anderson and Jacob Oram would have been good picks. As usual no Pakistani players have been picked. I cannot believe we let politics rule sport.

  • katandthat3 on February 5, 2012, 1:19 GMT

Laughlin, Neser, Doherty, Lendal Simmons, O'Keefe, Tharanga & Southeee would all be good pick ups, hard to believe some of the money being paid for some of these guys and other talent missing out, still a bit to sort out.

  • nyc_missile on February 5, 2012, 1:05 GMT

Phew..so happy and relieved that the Pakistani players have been dumped again..cant stand those opportunist back-stabbers.Remember Sohail Tanvir talking sh..t about Indians soon after their rejection in 2009.

  • hasib9 on February 5, 2012, 0:16 GMT

I'll never understand how McCullum is more expensive than Gayle... IPL trying to attract audiances of richer countries?

  • Ozcricketwriter on February 5, 2012, 0:11 GMT

Is Mahmood the first Pakistan player sold?

  • on February 4, 2012, 23:39 GMT

Nothing there about Samuel Badree; the MOST ECONOMICAL bowler in T20. Wonder why nothing there; checked the list and he was registered. IPL and WI both losing out; T20 having someone who bowls run rate less than 4.5 after so many yrs definitely should be on any team in the world.

  • jayvengalloor on February 4, 2012, 20:36 GMT

Why no pick for Owais Shah ??????????? He was in excellent form in the recent Big bash averaging 70.5...not reckoned for internationals anymore and would be available for the entire season of IPL.....surpriseeee

  • on February 4, 2012, 20:25 GMT

Suprised 2 see charles coventry from zim not been picked one of the strongest hitters in world cricket and a prolific scorer in stanbic t20 series for zim this year definately worth a millions at a base price of 50 K

  • JG2704 on February 4, 2012, 20:10 GMT

My bargain buy would have to be Kevon Cooper from what I saw of him in the CLT20. There are obvious cases of funny buys and strange omissions. I'd say Jadeja £2m,Kumar £1m and M Johnson £300k stand out as overspends and surprised considering what some players went for that the following weren't snapped up Iqbal,Shah,Taylor,Bopara,O Brien,Philander,Southee ,Herath and Mendis. Most of the English players I feel priced themselves out of it - esp Bell who is a desperately slow OD player -let alone T20. Part of me would like to have seen our Jos Buttler out there but being that he'd be missing from Somerset's side I'm quite relieved.

  • Vishal_07 on February 4, 2012, 20:03 GMT

I don't know why people complain about IPL. Lets face it, there are not enough people buying Test tickets even with gripping contests. Moreover, IPL gives a wonderful opportunity for young Indian players to play alongside international stars such as Gayle, Steyn and what have you. If you don't like IPL don't watch it and don't read any news about it.

  • Vishal_07 on February 4, 2012, 20:00 GMT

Laxman going unsold is the nature of the beast. He is obviously a very very special player in the long form of the game but not so in the T20 where you need to slog every ball out of the park and be athletic in the field, two things Laxman has never done well age/form notwithstanding.

  • WhiteRaven on February 4, 2012, 19:57 GMT

@ Krishna Prasad CSK dun have money in the bank to bid furthe, that was the reason Murali left out in last auction

  • on February 4, 2012, 19:20 GMT

why no one bought peter siddile and sotheee

  • squarepeg on February 4, 2012, 18:58 GMT

The extreme ends of surprise - Southee unsold and Jadeja @ 2 million. Shows how poor is Indian cricket depth. Luckiest foreign guy is McCullum, one of those cricketers who promise more than can deliver. MI and CSK will be the two teams to beat, RCB and Delhi next two, then KKR and RR, followed up by DC, KXIP. Pune let down by Sahara- if they had to pull out, they shud hv notified well in advance. Any team that takes Ganguly ends up in a mess.

  • on February 4, 2012, 18:43 GMT

Wonderful buy for CSK.Good Luck CSK..................

  • on February 4, 2012, 18:29 GMT

  • on February 4, 2012, 18:24 GMT

Pakistan players deserve a chance to play in IPL. They r doin well in international cricket, they have some pretty good spin bowlers.

  • on February 4, 2012, 18:07 GMT

I hope Anderson & Siddle will be tough 2 auction.

  • johnathonjosephs on February 4, 2012, 17:55 GMT

They really need to change the rules for the teams to make it 6 overseas players. To be honest, nobody really cares about watching Indian first class players playing. Nobody wants to see players like Vinay Kumar, and random Indian players nobody has heard of getting a 10-20 runs and getting out. The real views come from international players. IPL would be a super hit if they could do that

  • on February 4, 2012, 17:53 GMT

Any bangladeshi player if they not play IpL I am happy because Indian people they don't like us so we don't like them eather I dondt like Indian team they can only wine home not on out side!!!!!

  • on February 4, 2012, 17:02 GMT

    Why CSk ha s take ONLY ONE cricketer newly And Another why any has taken good players like VVS Laxman , Jacob Oram , A. Mendis , Tim Southee , Justin Kemp , L.Wright , R. Bopara , M.Boucher , G. Swann , I. Bell , T. Iqbal , J.Anderson ............!!!!!!!!!!!

  • on February 4, 2012, 16:55 GMT

  • on February 4, 2012, 16:36 GMT

good gain for CSK and MI.. provided RJ is Indian player he ll be there for all matches still CSK can use other 4 overseas players... as a CSK fan missin Muthiah from our team...

  • BeCalmAndSupportEngland on February 4, 2012, 16:29 GMT

@ Maruf Ahmed Maglin: Why Tamim Iqbal unslold................???because he doesn't have talent and skills to play in the ipl.He might be a bangaldeshi hero and he might suitable to play for any 11players in any franchise. But certainly u know for a team only 4 international players are allowed, so he has to fight for the best 4 rather than for best 11 in a team.If he is a indian then he surely will be sold.if we come to bangladesh then will ur guys can even win a single game man?memorize 2011 world cup 1st game .....

  • Hodra99 on February 4, 2012, 16:25 GMT

Alister McDermott would have been a steal for any team at $20000...he is a fantastic death bowler. Doherty and Southee are 2 other good T20 specialists who could be considered unlucky not to go for their relatively cheap prices

  • on February 4, 2012, 16:24 GMT

I see lot of people cribbing about IPL...stop cribbing ...IPL is giving a good platform for young cricketers to show case their talent. Remember Ranji trophy was the only tournamaent before IPL to show the talent.

  • Hodra99 on February 4, 2012, 16:21 GMT

@Andrew Crocker your wrong. Faulkner is a left arm medium bowler and can bat anywhere in the order. Was used by his Australian T20 side (Melbourne Stars) as a pinch hitting number 3 at times.

  • on February 4, 2012, 16:13 GMT

the biggest blunder of ipl all seasons.......royals buy kevon cooper.who is he? west indies rubbish..i think they mistook it as tom cooper....can somebody tell me plzzz?

  • on February 4, 2012, 16:10 GMT

KKR is the team with most bizarre buys this time! When you can play only four foreign players what's the point of buys so many of them. I think they should have bought Parthiv Patel especially when they don't have a quality desi keep-batsman in the team. And Naraine!!...I wonder how will they fit him in the playing XI...The four foreigners should be.. Kallis, Bret Lee, Pattinson and Ryan ten Doeschate ...Incase you don't have Lee available...Go for Mc.Cullum and if not Pattinson then Sakib....

  • on February 4, 2012, 16:06 GMT

why on earth are pakistani players left out every time!!!without thm it is not that exciting and fun to watch matches!!!

  • Pritt32 on February 4, 2012, 16:02 GMT

IPL is all about money and nothing else. Indian cricket is suffering because of this money making scheme. I hope IPL is held every two years, as the national team should come first.

Delhi side have 12 foreign Players according to your website squad:- Hopes, Birt, Finch, Frylink, Ingram, M Morkel, Merwe, Wade, Warner, Mahela, Russell and Bracewell. How come this have been allowed? These list is also being featured in other websites like NDTV too... And added to this, Petersen is also there.. So total 13. • Lion_96 on February 4, 2012, 15:47 GMT

the one thing i never understood about the ipl is the constant changing of teams. Mahela played for Kings XI Punjab for a couple a seasons, then for the Tuskers and now for Delhi? i think it makes it very difficult for fans to connect to their teams. u dont see wayne rooney changing clubs every two seasons? thts wht ipl lacks>>continuity. changing of personal only disrupts support for the team. esp. for non indian fans. and if this league is set to compete with other sports league then it needs to have a serious rethink about these auction and who can be bought and sold.

Already Sangarkkara is there, Super keeper and batsman, backup keeper that much amount is worth?? Without Ojha and Peterson, deccan looks very dull at the moment. I am pakistani and i am really glad that our players are not allowed in IPL .One of the reasons behind their outstanding performance recently is not playing in IPL .I think players like sehwag dravid gambhir mahela are destroyed by their money making ambition . I really hope BCCI never allow pakistani players to participate in IPL . But i ll hope they resume international ties with us soon .

  • givemefood on February 4, 2012, 14:35 GMT

Ravindra Jadeja is not worth $2 million and why the auctioners didnt even give a bid for vvs laxman and murali was sold for $220,000

  • Muhammad_Zahid on February 4, 2012, 13:44 GMT

The franchises give more price to indian players, see ravindra jadeja, and vinay kumar, thought jadeja might justify some due to home conditions but what can vinay do? he can only be smashed around for 1 $million. Wastage of money by Royal Challengers Bangalore. Chris Gayle should have got highest price but again he is foreign player.

  • csowmi7 on February 4, 2012, 13:38 GMT

now chennai have 3 all rounders bravo, morkel and jadeja along with raina who can be very handy with the ball. If The probable 11 is going to be vijay, hussey, raina, badrinath, dhoni, jadeja, morkel, bravo, ashwin, bollinger,,jakati it will mean that we have 8 batsman 4 spin options and 3 seam options. Easily the most balanced ipl side.

  • on February 4, 2012, 13:37 GMT

Its so surprising to see that the best players of the format like those of Shahid Afridi, Abdur Razzaq, Imran Nazir, Muhammad Hafeez are not a part of IPL. Such a loss for the franchise. Or a biased system?

I mean really the injured sreeshanth for 400,000 and vinay kumar for a mil. southee, siddle, philander, rampaul eat bowlers like that for breakfast. This is what happens when u mix bollywood actors like shilpa shetty and preity zinta with crickket.

I dont know why these bangladesi guys are getting upset for Tamil Iqbal is not getting sold, his T20I average is 13.60, and Odi average is 28.84. who would want to waste their money for a player like him. he may be good in bangladesh but he is not a world class player.

  • on February 4, 2012, 12:48 GMT

No price for Kevin Obrien's talent???? He recently cracked a century in a T20. I don't really understand how IPL franchises are choosing players. Even if he doesn't get a chance to play this season.. he could have been a better bet for coming up seasons.

  • arun105Citt on February 4, 2012, 12:40 GMT

strange there is no bid for brian brothers. they would be added value to any team. Narine very good bowler but not worth for the price considering the availability of WI players. Narine will be selected in WI squad bcoz of his domestic performance. DD bid sensibly considering thier squad. RC valued thier money. MI buying all class players to strenthen the bench and weaken the opposite...

  • on February 4, 2012, 12:40 GMT

This is too much ludicrous and ignominious for international players. Is it a real list for IPL or not view to value Indian players. India has proved again that they are totally communal. o brien,r,mendis, tamim,Siddle,Brandon Taylor are much more better than any sold player of IPL. Tamim Iqbal is one of the best hard-hitter batsmen in the world. I think Tamim Iqbal will prove his competency in the upcoming BPL Tournament. He must show what he is !!! I again show my thumb to the IPL authority for their ludicrous auction.

  • Gizza on February 4, 2012, 12:13 GMT

Like many I thought Kevin O'Brien and Brendan Taylor were givens (don't think Zim or Ire play any series during IPL). Silly IPL owners. They aren't even shrewd businessmen they're just random rich people. But at least blokes like Brad Hogg and Darren Bravo were picket. And Azhar Mahmood who is sort of now the first Pakistani since 2008 to be in the IPL. @jonesy2 and others, the IPL market is seriously skewed towards Indians. If the overseas player quota was increased even to just 5 per team per game you will get more balanced prices for each player (although it will be perfect when there is no quota at all). @SirViv, I think the franchise owners are confident that the WI blokes aren't loyal to their national team like Gayle (and unlike other countries) hence many West Indian players were bought despite them playing during the IPL period.

  • on February 4, 2012, 12:10 GMT

There are 2 things which i feel influences the pkayers price.

1, the form in the series before the IPL 2. the order of players which come out for auction. If the franchises play it safe and they grab the first player which comes for auction, they dont have much choice when the other big players come for auction as they would have already made thier choice.

Ahmad bhai u seem to have less knowledge abt the rules of the ipl....let me explain it to u....its the INDIAN PREMERE LEAGUE....7 indian players are compulsary hence to sort out the balance of the team Indian players would obviously go at much higher prices. Also Player Availability is a major concern n moreover 4 foriegn players allowed so 1 cannot buy the players just to make them sit on the benches... :/

  • sachinbkere on February 4, 2012, 9:35 GMT

the only reason the indian players fetched more was because there were only abt 8 of them in the auction and most teams want to have as many indian internationals as possible.....on the other hand, there were 135+ foreign players...hence not the same level of competition.....if u actually saw the auction live,u wud realise there is a method to the madness and stop blaming the ipl for all the ills in world cricket...india has benifitted in the odis due to ipl...eg vinay kumar, ravi ashwin, jadeja, raina, rahul sharma,rp singh and irfan pathan hav rejuvunated their careers due to the ipl

  • Lovetesh on February 4, 2012, 9:31 GMT

DC seems to have no strategy at all. They give away KP and Pragyan Ojha in transfer window and bought Parthiv Patel only in auction. What's the point in buying PP when you have Sangakkara for WK? RR again bought some good players at good price like Hogg, Hodge and Chandimal. They need Sreesanth as their fast bowling is weak. So all are good buy for them. DD have gained some ground in this auction after doing horrible in first one last year. Jayawardene and Andre Russell are both good players. KKR seems to be building team smartly and are going to perform well with this team. Although they need some local fast bowler and should have go for RP Singh instead of Sunil Narine when you have Shakib Al Hassan.

  • Sano27 on February 4, 2012, 9:23 GMT

Bit surprised with the team managements strategy to pick the players.....swann,samuels,anderson,prior,rampaul,owais shah went unsold.....the exclusion of Kevin obrien dint make any sense....Jadeja will be a bonus for any team...but VK 4 dat much price is meaningless & also in the case of KKR 4 sunil narine....most of the team management doesnt seems to have brain......!

I really think Dinesh Chandimal should have got a bit more. Hope he really rocks during the IPL.

  • on February 4, 2012, 9:08 GMT

i think swany is better than narine...

  • jonesy2 on February 4, 2012, 9:00 GMT

some strange unsold options i guess the aussie and windies players because they are playing their series at the same time. royals got an amazing deal with both hogg and hodge. vinay kumar getting a million is one of the funniest and strangest things ive ever seen, jadeja getting 2 million is just the stupidest thing ive ever seen

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:59 GMT

Wht about slinga maling? How Much he sold?

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:57 GMT

    IPL 12-sold players list....

  • Sarfin on February 4, 2012, 8:55 GMT

Can anyone explain why Jadeja got such a high price? His Twenty20 strike rate is 116.52 and economy rate is 7.19. T20I records are not that impressive either. Ok, you want him in your team as a local player. But at such a high price? Given, many quality players are unsold....

  • InnocentGuy on February 4, 2012, 8:55 GMT

Ennathu Vinay Kumar ku $1 millionaaaa???!!!!

  • NAZA88 on February 4, 2012, 8:53 GMT

What is KKR doing.....$700000 for Sunil Narine??? and they didnt try for Hogg, Swann..They needed a good Indian fast bowler like Viany, RP or Sreesanth...

  • SirViv1973 on February 4, 2012, 8:47 GMT

Can anyone explain to me why there are so many west indian players in this auction ? At the start of the IPL season WIN will be playing Aus and then as soon as that series is completed the team come to Eng. The likes of Darren Bravo, Edwards, Rampul, Samuels and Barath will all be required to play in these series so how are they going to fit in time to play in the IPL? the franchises know this which is why none of them have been picked up. I'm also surprised to see so many of Eng's players on the list as they will likley only be available for a handful of games in between the series with SRL and WIN. I think we have seen in the past that the franchises are not really interested in players who cannot play atleast 80% of the games which is why they tend to go with Aus/SAF domestic players as oppossed to established internationals. Seems pointless these guys putting themselves forward Swann's in the auction every yr but never gets picked up because of international commitments.

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:44 GMT

What a shame!!! A top performer like Gibbs gets a price of 50000$ and over rated Vinay Kumar gets 1 million. No players yet from any associates and Pakistan is banned. I think IPL is losing it's attraction day by day.

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:40 GMT

Can anyone Please tell me if the auctions are over or they're still there?

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:34 GMT

Good to see VVS Laxman is not in IPL 2012. But Swann should be picked.

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:33 GMT

Congrats Ravinder Jadeja!!!!!!!! 2 million dollars for IPL! Wow!

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:33 GMT

why did anyone not buy BRENDAN TAYLOR,KEVIN O BRIAN AND TIM SOUTHEE NOT SOLD

  • Rahul_Zapp on February 4, 2012, 8:33 GMT

I read Mitchell Johnson is out for 5-6 months after his toe surgery. Would that make it a bad buy by Mumbai Indians ?

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:29 GMT

dc sucked again at the auctions we needed an solid opener like gayle but they dint buy any one and we needed an all rounder like russel or kevin o brien but the owners showed their misery skills .best of luck dc to hit the bottom of the table when u hav money spend it in making the team stronger dont put it in ur pocket !!

any way parthiv is a blessing in disguise hope he give dc some wins i wont ecpect much frm him

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:28 GMT

one thing is sure chennai is going to be a tough fielding and bowling side in future.sides hav to bat and run well if they hav to win.

  • cricket_lover777 on February 4, 2012, 8:27 GMT

Seriously guys?! Its about time that we quit watching money-making IPL and support our test team- which is going nowhere.

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:27 GMT

Ravinder Jadeja bought by CSK only the reason was Dhoni Choice Not for His Talent........Otherwise CSK Did Not Bid of $2 million........IPL heating to Indian Cricket Specially Test Cricket......RR Bought 2 OLD Australian Players Why???? Darren Bravo, Mark Boucher, Justin Kemp, Marlon Samuels, Doug Bracewell, Kevin O'Brien, Lonwabo Tsotsobe All These are Good Player but Unsold Why???? Sunil Narine is should be a Play a Vital Role in This IPL and He Could Be Attract all Cricket Experts Eyes....

  • chapathishot on February 4, 2012, 8:25 GMT

It is the Austrailian support to the teams rejecting the Poms

  • FatBoysCanBat on February 4, 2012, 8:19 GMT

All I can say is 'wow!' How do guys like Swann, Mendis, Taylor, O'Keefe, Bravo and Tamim not get a single bid and Narine and Russell get over 1.1 million between them? I guess this just shows the un-predictability [or stupidity] of the IPL and the team owners.

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:16 GMT

not that exciting anymore, Australians should come up with some thing better than ipl. They got great grounds, audience and an awesome atmosphere. They truly are well cultured, sports loving and peace makers

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:12 GMT

    still no tamim in IPL.....

  • A.z.f.a.r on February 4, 2012, 8:11 GMT

Whats the deal with Ravindra Jadeja? why such a high price. Didnt really follow last the last IPL. Did he perform well there? and Herschelle Gibbs for $50,000 only. Wow. What a bargain.

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:07 GMT

    KKR KKR..............................LOVE U SRK LOVE U GAUTI...............AND LOVE U KOLKATA

  • on February 4, 2012, 8:06 GMT

CSK did a clever move. Instead to picking more players they picked Jadeja.

  • on February 4, 2012, 7:59 GMT

    WoW....RJ for CSK..!!!!!!!!

  • 5wombats on February 4, 2012, 7:57 GMT

What is this? and what has it got to do with cricket? It's a mystery.

  • on February 4, 2012, 7:53 GMT

Dinesh Chandimal's bid was a bargain. He'll be a star very soon. Disappointed that K. O'Brien didn't get a deal.

  • on February 4, 2012, 7:51 GMT

Rajasthan makes as usual most stupid buy of the auction hodge for +400, what a joke Sure the Australian connection is still making ther moves in RR selection of buying

Hodge is not at all the best spinner of his time even......what a waste

  • on February 4, 2012, 7:42 GMT

Great CSK ! You bought Ravidra Jadeja
