The Kolkata dug-out applauds Gautam Gambhir, Kolkata Knight Riders v Royal Challengers, IPL, Kolkata, April 28, 2012
Gautam Gambhir: Leading the way © AFP

Big Picture

Gautam Gambhir often says that if Kolkata Knight Riders play to their potential, they will be very hard to beat. It sounds like a cliché, but on yesterday's evidence, you realise where Gambhir is coming from. Restricting a batting line-up with a top four of Tillakaratne Dilshan, Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers 47 runs short of the target requires some effort. As he has done before this season, Gambhir backed his words with his bat, cracking 93 off 51 deliveries on an Eden Gardens pitch which has not exactly been easy to score on.

Chennai Super Kings will be smarting after the unexpected reversal against Kings XI Punjab. Before they lost yesterday by seven runs in Chennai, Super Kings had reeled off three consecutive wins at home. Their slow bowlers love choking the opposition batsmen on a helpful Chennai surface, but that is what Knight Riders also do at Eden Gardens. Conditions will be more or less familiar for both sides.

Form guide

(completed games, most recent first)

Chennai Super Kings: LWWLW
Kolkata Knight Riders: WWWLW

Players to watch

MS Dhoni has not had done much with the bat this season, with 132 runs from eight innings at a strike-rate of 116.81. He has played a couple of useful cameos, but just nine boundaries so far don't do him any justice.

Gautam Gambhir has been in excellent touch and is easily Knight Riders' best batsman so far, with 302 runs at 149.50. The Chennai pitch and attack will be difficult to score off; will Gambhir show his side the way again?

Stats and trivia

  • Super Kings have a 5-2 win-loss record against Knight Riders.
  • Runs have been scored faster in Chennai in the IPL, at 8.12 runs per over, than they have been in Kolkata, at 7.54.

"While we had a reasonable team early on, we were struggling to get things going. But moving on five years, the balance of the side we have got is outstanding. We have strengthened both our bowling and batting and you look at the Indian players, they are really standing out. It's definitely a better balanced team.."
Brendon McCullum on Kolkata Knight Riders

Unusual Captaincy by GG..da spinner who hvnt Bowl for a long time got da new ball! bt if u hv 2 foreigners dan u can take chances

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 14:15 GMT)

dhoni should be play opening with du plessis....

Posted by CricFreax on (April 30, 2012, 14:06 GMT)

They need to drop Saha and get mukund or Anirudha instead. Since Hussey is playing, they may drop Bravo and they need a hitter..

Posted by CricFreax on (April 30, 2012, 14:03 GMT)

Seems like chennai need a good spinners also along aprat from fast bowlers. Ash alone cant do anything, if there is nonsense (jakati and 6 Million 4 hero) being bowled from other end

we want shakib al hasan for kkr

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 13:52 GMT)

it is a fantastic news that brendon mccullum had got his fom back it is anice thing for KKR i think KKR will surely win this match it has many match winnig batsmen, bowlers and all rounders too go KKR gooooooooooooooooooooooooo..!

Go CSK all the way to IPL 5 Championship !!!

Narine will be the difference today

Posted by jhumon_sydney on (April 30, 2012, 13:32 GMT)

gambir is a bizarre captain. He picked up Abdullah in the last game as a spinner but did not give him to bowl. What a waste of the selection of the best eleven. Is he giving abdullah chance again today without using him?gauti is killing few players like Pathan,Brendon,Bisla,Shakib, morgan, tendo,Abdullah. All are losing their confident by getting continuous chances and warming the benches.Gauti is lucky enough having few match winners in the team.

Posted by StevieS on (April 30, 2012, 13:31 GMT)

Kamrul_BD how does the saying go? form is temporary class is permanent.... McCullum has won countless matches in all forms of the game and when he is in form in a short form of the game there are few players in the game that are more dangerous, the KKK management know this thats why they are persisting with him, get him in form and their chances of winning the comp have increased 10 fold. the same can't be said of Hussain.

Posted by Coldkapi on (April 30, 2012, 13:23 GMT)

CSK is not utilizing Morkel properly.. sending him along with duplessis would give CSK a strong start. Badrinath is a good player and has the flexibility to come down the order. Hussey of-course on top, the fourth foreign player must be Hilfenhaus. Bowling attack is a big problem for CSK . hilf, ash, morkel bravo will bowl 4 each, who are the fillers? Jadeja has done good with the bat but his bowling has to improve drastically for him to be classified as a true allrounder. CSK's below par show this season can be attributed to Raina not clicking with the bat as well as the change in the pitch at M.A.Chidambaram (Which I think has nullified the advantage that CSK had at home).

Posted by KK_Cricket on (April 30, 2012, 13:08 GMT)

Historically, CSK have got better of KKR for more then one reason but KKR this time are showing more character and charm.. Hope they enjoy the game and take CSK down in the process :) I am sure DD, KKR would definitely be the 2 among top 4... And one of RR and KXIP may surprize and get into top 4 as well...

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 13:02 GMT)

i strongly believe csk will bounce back strongly, last match against punjab ,they messed up with batting order.saha is a capable player but in this situation csk should win all the matches.du plesis, badri, raina hussey dhoni jadeja bravo morkel ashwin jakati and tyagi, they can try hilfenhose instead of morkel

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 12:59 GMT)

csk team coach, captain & management, do take scott styris as he has not played a single match in 2011 IPL and this IPL till date. He is a good alround guy, create an opportunity for him. All the best for today match

Posted by CSKcritic on (April 30, 2012, 12:56 GMT)

Hi, If CSK has to win this match, they just have to be aggressive. Their strategy to be slow at the start have cost them the matches so far. Morkel must be sent up the order to open with Fafy. He is a wasted resource. He is not a good economic bowler, but a terrific hitter. Make use of it CSK. Why not try Sudeep Tyagi for a pacer? My team would be: Vijay-Fafy (openers), Morkel, raina, Dhoni, Bravo, Jadeja,Hussey, Tyagi, Ashwin, Jakti/YoMahesh Morkel, Tyagi bravo for pace and medium pace Ashwin, jakati, Raina and Jadeja for Spin. Hussey to backup the order incase of disaster. Howz This?

GO KKR GO ...................

Posted by ssenthil on (April 30, 2012, 12:48 GMT)

Dhoni with his stupid strategy will lose this match against KKR unless some of CSK overseas players overcomes Dhoni's as usual blunders. He never was a good captain and never will be.

Posted by Advanced_Donkeys on (April 30, 2012, 12:47 GMT)

I never expected this, but Nuwan Kula is very economical during this edition of the IPL.Wish him,and the CSK best of luck!

Posted by StevieS on (April 30, 2012, 12:35 GMT)

Ahmed Hussain what? He averages 15.46 SR 114 VS McCullums 32 SR 136 not to mention that NZ domestic cricket is a level above Bangladesh domestic cricket. No one in their right mind would class him as a better batsmen.

Posted by Kamrul_BD on (April 30, 2012, 12:28 GMT)

I don't know the squad of KKR which will play against CSK today. But I like to highlight one comparison between Sakib and Mccullum. So far Sakib played 3 matches and taken 6 wkts and scored 24 runs with an avg of 8.Point to note that in first match Sakib played a vital role in low scoring match. In 2nd match he became MoM. In 3rd match he got 2 wkts though could not score much.On the other hand Mccullum played so far 5 matches and except the last one his score was 10/15/2/9 with an avg of 9,though in his fifth match he scored 43 where the pitch was a batting paradise. As wkt keeper so far he could grab 2 catches only. Now my questin is where KKR have Bishla who is performing well in batting and as wkt keeper also he is doing good, why then KKR is not keeping Sakib in thier squad ? I am not going to request anyone to include Sakib but as a cricket lover and a FAN of KKR I likely to request please don't ignore the brilliancy of Sakib. Thanks .

Posted by Thiagusekar on (April 30, 2012, 12:14 GMT)

This will be a big test for CSk..They can't predict sunil narine deliveries..KKR are in top as a CSK fan,am praying for them to win by some strong batting from du plessis and Raina.

Posted by NatarajR on (April 30, 2012, 12:07 GMT)

Your CSK XI has 5 overseas players. Following XI for Chennai will be the best bet: M Hussey, du Plessis, Badrinath, Raina, Dhoni, Jadeja, Bravo, Morkel, Ashwin, Jakati, Mahesh Winning strategy: Get Gambhir, Bisla and Kallis out. Be cautious with the bowling attack of Narine and Kallis.

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 11:56 GMT)

No more Dhoni's lady luck. These guys have made good money & making fool of us. We waste our precious time watching these is highly ridiculous to pick Saha & send him ahead of Morkel,Bravo. He could very well use Srikanth Anirudha to open & Badri down the order. Please put your mind ( brain ) into action Dhoni.

Posted by mughal29173 on (April 30, 2012, 11:52 GMT)

"We have strengthened both our bowling and batting and you look at the Indian players, they are really standing out" Unquote Brendon McCullum. If he had not said this no one would have published his comments. This wont make India a better side then any anyother. Neither Tendulkar surpass Lara.

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 11:52 GMT)

I think Yusuf should be given a chance to open batting;he'l a lot of time to stay at crease & dat'l help in getting his confidence back.KKR is Definitely 1 of 2 best Teams of IPL-2012.eider in performance or a balance between Indian and foreign every espect dis truly deserves to be in T-20 is really n anusual game sumtimes even better playing teams loses match just like yest Raj Royals lost deir game in last 2 overs.for 38 overs dey played better Crkt dan Delhi bt ultimately lost da match

Posted by rsurya on (April 30, 2012, 11:37 GMT)

Dhoni is the worst captain ever in cricket.

Posted by Baundele on (April 30, 2012, 11:21 GMT)

If Gauti flops, KKR can not win with their wrong foreign players choice. So far Gauti has rescued the non-performance from McCullum, Kallis, Pathan, Lee etc.

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 11:16 GMT)

I like to see Shakib Al Hasan in

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 11:13 GMT)

My CSK XI (Hussey, Duplessis, Raina, Dhoni, Jadeja, Bravo, Badri, Vijay, Morkel, Hilfenhaus, Ashwin)

Posted by Hayat22 on (April 30, 2012, 11:07 GMT)

Reviewing my earlier comments: i would say, that being on the slower side, inducting Morgan may not work, and mc Cullum is also not adept at such wickets. Therefore it could be a good move to include Shakib, and get him to open with Gambhir. Shakib could be sent to play his shots in the first six overs. In case he fails, though less likely here on such slow wickets, he could also be utilized during the bowling. Remember there is no Gayle storm coming so slow bowlers need not be hidden rather they should be set all over the place to choke stroke making!

Go with shakib, as opener. My final jawab here. ;-D

Dear @Ramanagarajan Meenakshinathan how did ur Chennai team can play 5 over seas players ....hahahahaha..if so replace all 11 with overseas players (better borrow frm other frnchises also). Badri is the best batsman in chn side... I hope and very much syre this time we see new champions (not mumbai at that note).Watch out of RR,DD,KKR ....

Go CSK !!! :D all d best May the best team win :)

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 10:36 GMT)

looolzzz For all those who think Mcculum is a better batsman than Shakib - think again, Shakib is ranked as a higher batsman than Mcculum plus has a better average than him and also Shakib batting in the past two years alone is something Mcculum has never achieved in his career oh yes :)

Posted by jinudj on (April 30, 2012, 10:02 GMT)

i didnt think so. guati has that much captiancy quality..he never try to take risk.. just following coach's instructions, he didnt utilizing his players...i dont know how they won last games.... real captain thats our dada, and shane warne (old), rahul dravid.... just look the beauty of the way of utilizing thier ghambir has strong unit...the world most explosive players..(gyle,veeru,yusuf,..etc.),he has also one member..yusuf pathaan..he used that player, just review all kkr matches...he didnt given a real opertunity to yusuf..why...

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 9:49 GMT)

hi CSK will be the winner of IPL edition 5, becoz they have got potential teal to grab the trophy. ups and downs are always in the game. so don't under estimate our CSK

Gods sake drop jakati.. he is nto a great bowler nor a useful batsman.. bring in bollinger... he has pace all he has to do is get back to rhythm which he will after few bad starts... openers of csk have to be attacking .. we start very slow.. badrinath cant score at run a ball ....

Kkr is going to win. Gautam as always amazing, Kallis is in form to ball and bat As always kkr is going to win

Posted by adnanadu on (April 30, 2012, 9:36 GMT)

kkr means king khan rules so definitly kkr

by the way replace bhatia with balaji and give overs to abdullah than no one would defeat this team of which shakib, morgan, doeshchate are sitting on seats

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 9:16 GMT)

I think KKR should play with Shakib ul Hasan instead of Brendon Mccullum.

Posted by sunny0700 on (April 30, 2012, 9:13 GMT)

It's time for KKR to try some local players up the order. Yusuf at no. 4 is not working. He got hell lot of chances but still he hasn't got his form back neither with bat or ball. He is a genuine liability on the field as well. He should be given a break. Bisla, laxmi, Debabrata all three should play. if possible include one more spinner in Iqbal. This guy if he is fir can be dangerous in Cheepak

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 9:10 GMT)

You Bangladesh fans need to get a grip on reality. Sakib is not going to play and KKR are doing fantastic without him. Sure hes a great player but hes half the batsman that McCullum is and Narine is a far better bowler in the T20 format. Because of the limit on foreign players the guy is gonna ride the bench for now. Deal with it. PS. McCullums form has not been ideal so far but hes just showing a return to form the guy is a proven match winner in this format and the leading run scorer in international t20 cricket.

Posted by IJ-IPL on (April 30, 2012, 9:06 GMT)

Shakib should not play for the benefit of KKR and Bangladesh. If Shakib plays then KKR will surely lose and the blame will come on all bangladeshi fans and it will prejudice the chances of all future bangladeshi T20 talents in our country. Shakib is the world's number 1 all-rounder in ODI. But he holds zero ranks and zero statistics in T20. Infact, there are better players in our BPL than Shakib. I support KKR management in using Shakib in a strategic manner only. HE is not an automatic choice, but should only be choosen before specific teams, in specific conditions and on specific pitches only. HE can't play everywhere. I think infact, Tamin deserves more chance to play in Pune than Shakib in KKR.

Posted by sagnikk on (April 30, 2012, 9:04 GMT)

Gauti is firing on his way.....nd posing a threat to Kohli(of becoming the Vice-captain of India).........KKR lso has a gr8 combination in IPL......playing XI 1.Gambhir 2.Mcculum 3.Kallis 4.Manoj 5.Shukla 6.Das 7.Pathan 8.Lee 9.Narine 10.Balaji 11.Abdulla

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 9:01 GMT)

if the CSK playing on their potential, they definitely they will win the match. they are the favorites for the edition of IPL

Posted by crindex on (April 30, 2012, 8:41 GMT)

Is Mike Hussey playing for Chennai?

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 8:37 GMT)

Surely CSK is gona loose if they play the waiting game. dhoni needs to realise the strenght. The are an aggressive team, but not playing to their strength. On the other end its KKR, which rely heavily on Gauti if he's gone then its CSK all the way....

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 8:36 GMT)

Vijay cannot sit out. He is a strong character who could defend and slog whenever necessary. he was runout for no falt of his give him more chances. Do not forget that he is a brilliant fielder. It was ridiculous if anyone thinks that Saha WK is a better bat than Vijay.

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 8:28 GMT)

Chennai will win this match and the others and qualify to the final.

Batting line-up for final:

Faf du Plessis

Mike Hussey

Suresh Raina

Bravo / Morkel

This team will confirm the win for CSK this year and retain the coveted IPL TROPHY.

CSK- DLF IPL CHAMPIONS 2012..........

Posted by vak1997 on (April 30, 2012, 8:26 GMT)

looking forward to mccullum vs CSK pacers and Gambhir vs Ashwin. it's gonna be a good face off. so, KKR bat first and CSK bowl 1st if you win the toss!!

Posted by Hayat22 on (April 30, 2012, 8:25 GMT)

KKR need explosive hitter at the start while Gambhir needs to settle down. Morgan should indeed be tried, but remember this a slow wicket, so the one who can play better on this surface needs to be proposed.

But the change should be batting oriented. Not bowling, as it is firing already and if Bhatia can be replaced with Balaji then all the better.

Posted by GVR1965 on (April 30, 2012, 8:25 GMT)

Try this winning combination, CSK: 1. Vijay 2. Du Plesis 3. Raina 4. Badri 5. Jadeja 5. Dhoni 7. Bravo 8. Morkel 8. Styris 9.Ashwin 10.Yo Mahesh 11. Jakati

Posted by NickyBangkok on (April 30, 2012, 8:11 GMT)

CSK should first analyse what is their strength & Weakness.... If we go by this then I would say that CSK doesn't have a Classic Batsmen international who could take the team until the last over (Like KP, Gambir, Kallis, Sehwag, Jayawardhane ..... a Test Batsmen who plays in all format) and also doesn't have a classic bowler (Like Morne, Steyn, Malinga, bret less.... a test bowler who plays in all format.. So do you know why Delhi & KKR on top?

CSK deeply believe on their half cooked players who is neither a batsman nor a bowler, well its fine to have such but not all of them.

Going by this Hussey & Hilfenhaus should come in as specialists.....Retain Bravo & Kulasekara/Morkel

My Winning XI would be..... Vijay, Hussey, Raina, Badri, Dhoni, Jadeja, Bravo/Styris, Kula/Morkel, Ashwin, Hilfenhaus & Yo Mahesh/Tyagi...

Now we if we see, it looks like batting & bowling strong team....which could take this cup.

Posted by Ather11plus on (April 30, 2012, 8:10 GMT)

We are good now but not great. We are in top four in the table but not leading the points table. Still we can do it only when we learn from past mistake!!! I will cheer & roar CSK till the 16th match of league. My CSK XI is{Badri, Dupli, Raina, Dhoni, Jadeja, Morkel, M vijay, Aswin, Jakthi, Hilfenaus & Kulas/Dougi}.

Posted by Kiwi-Jake on (April 30, 2012, 8:04 GMT)

Hey CSK, how about giving Scotty Styris a game?

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 8:00 GMT)

KKR....they are going to win this match......but bring morgan in the sqaud and give McCullum an another chance. Both are hard hitting batsman and KKR can put pressure on CSK by giving them a big total.....and don't drop narine....

Posted by satish619chandar on (April 30, 2012, 7:26 GMT)

CSK have a strange problem really.. They have the firepower which is not at all firing.. Raina and Dhoni are really dangerous but never fired in this IPL apart from Dhoni in one innings.. If they can fire, CSK stands a chance otherwise none.. CSK should look to replace Albie with Hilfy.. I dont think it is going to upset their balance that much,. Kula looked good in all the games he played and doesn't deserve to be dropped.. Time for Hussey to take some rest too.. Duplessis has just took his place with two hands.. Only thing KKR need to do is, drop Baz and include Shakib.. Bisla can do what Baz had done in last few games.. Both produce same kinds of innings..

Shakib is a player from one of the poorest countries, all others are from rich countries Sounds strange and funny but its the real truth Otherwise how can a world class allrounder like Shakib should be sitting in the dressing room Its a matter of shame for The KKR players Sharukh Khan please step in as the owner and do justice to your team and Shakib. CSK Must go with Specialists ..There is no need for 3 alrounders ...My 11....1 ) Hussey 2) faf du pelesis 3)Raina 4)Murali Vijay 5) Dhoni 6)Badri 7) Jadeja 8) Ashwin 9) Jagati 10) Ben hilfenhaus 11) bollniger.....!! Yousuf's presence in the side will make even any COOL captain think differently. As the wickets tumble at the beginning and you R in the middle order of KKR, the threat of an incoming giant will loom large. I think the opposition bowlers will trade him for any other Indian batsman (ala, sir VIV walking in). Nobody wants to bowl to him - U can see their (bowler, captain etc.) faces, even when he is out of form. Shakib's utility will be seen very soon - we have so many matches, even after qualifying; to the next international t-20 club tounament and the next whole season. Wait my dear friends around DHAKA. The world is devoid of All-rounders so much, that the current No. 1 all-rounder is from a test playing nation, ranked ??? (put any karge number, its just DONT CARE condition) in ODI and T-20.

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 6:47 GMT)

CSK in the last game doesn't seems to be a champion material. They have committed suicide by dropping M Vijay. Look at KKR and learn. They are persisting with YPathan, because they know he's a big match player and the day he fires... the opposition will have no answers. MVijay is in the same breed but more consistent and classic.......

Posted by leleraja on (April 30, 2012, 6:26 GMT)

CSK should replace Saha and Kula with Hussey and Yomi. The team would be: Hussey, Duplesis, Raina, Badri, Dhoni, Bravo, Morkel, Jadeja, Ashwin, Yomi & Jakati. Good luck CSK!!

comeon kkr pls play shakib! they have not played shakib for very long! drop mcculum. he cant bowl, is not the wicket keeper. he only bats! but didnt score! lee can support the team wif his excellent economy rate. balaji is capable of taking wickets! jus need one change badly.thats shakib in mcculum out.

Some Fans dont know about cricket and sending his comments, wat yousuf pathan did wrong in last 2 games, i agree he didnt do anything, but do u have any player like yousuf who can replace him, his name is enough in KKR team, that why KKR coach, wasim Akram most experienced guys have faith on him he can change any game, gambhir kallis, lee doing well, but if u wanna win today u need yousuf in the team, he know how play jadeja, jakati, ashwain, gambhir shold take back balaji and bisla in the team, in place of shukla and abdullah, all the best KKR, gambhir, pathan, you guys gonna rock today,

We need to win 4 out of last 7 games.....given we win the 3 home games....we need to win 1 away game.....a low moral CSK seems a nice target....a loss however will not be the end of the road for us....lets reach playoffs and take it from their....hoping to see Balaji back....I know chennai historically favours spinners....but this year not that much.....batting worries me though...if gauti fails we are in trouble....should defend rather than chase if we win the toss.....whether shakib plays or not supporting the only bengali team in IPL as a Bangladeshi....go KKR go....make bengalis proud

Having Hussey in the mix should help Chennai. With a strong list of overseas players, the kiwi Styris hasn't played yet; a reliable performer and powerful hitter like this could change the dimensions of the team a bit - for the better.

@Ha8rick, Why Mccullim is given chances. Because he is from Newzealand. He failed every time but he has been given chances. On last match he scored 42/43 runs by wasting 37 Balls. So why Mccullim. KKR should drop him and give chance to Shakib, who is well capable of Bowling, Batting and Fielding.

Looks like CSK with win today.

CSK-Raina is proving to be a worry-he doesn't seem like a threat anymore. Saha needs to be replaced-he cant clear the ropes consistently, at mid order you need someone who can hit the ball-maybe send bravo up the order. mike hussey has come in, but will he get in playing 11-if yes then replace nuwan kulsekara with him, because in ashwin, albie, jadeja and bollinger they have frontline bowlers with support of bravo-a batsman in hussey is more desirable than a bowler in kulsekara.

KKR need to replace brendon with shakib-they have decent batting line up, but in bowling other than lee, narine and kallis they dont have anyone who can atleast choke the opposition if not take wickets. And pathan just like raina needs to fire to justify his price as well as place in the playing 11.

come on Chennai today u are the winners

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 4:57 GMT)

why the hell is shakib being ignored in so many games????? mccullum hasnt really done anything so far but still gets games to play and shakib despite the good performmances in the few chances hes got, gets sacked for no apparent reason. really dont understand what's going on here. he even won them the match with his all round performance in one of the matches. im sure if he were a regular he'd top the wicket-takers the list or at least be on it.

GO Chennai be in top 2 to play Q1 instead of playing Eliminator and Q2 to reach final. Go Chennai Go

@Ha8rick we all Bangladeshi fans know well abt foreign plair policy of IPL. but i think u dont how to compare when u compare Shakib wz someone. we all know his capability. he shd be a auto choice for any team. how cd KKR do this to smone who is a very usefull in all format of cricket & who is a nbr 1 allrounder in the world. yes its a winning team form may last two/three matches but wht abt begining stage of KKR in this IPL when they lose matches & we all heard the same word from the captain "best combination" & a very unfortunate for those ppl when Shakib got the man of the match award. dear Ha8rick & all Cricket FANS,plz think how cd a plair like Shakib dropped for so many matches as KKR is still doing wz him ??? once again best of luck to Shakib & wd like to see u soon in county cricket.

Regarding the shakib should play debate-well he is a very good allrounder, class player.but the 4 overseas player rule makes it difficult.lee, kallis, narine have to play-one is a fast bowler, the other is a batsman and narine is a mystery others will be competing for that 1 is about getting the right combination rather than selecting the best players.will give 2 examples-mcgrath,who is a legend used to be on the bench for delhi.and if anyone follows football you'll know that sergio busquets plays ahead of cesc fabregas for spain, even though cesc is a better footballer.with xavi, alonso and iniesta someone like busquets is a better fit

Vignesh should be in for Saha for Chennai. This is time, that some other players get a chance to play. Saha was in the playing XI, but got a chance to bat only once. Not sure how many more changes he will get in a strong batting lineup. Vignesh can bat as well as bowl. Jadeja is not doing so good with the ball and Vignesh and DuPlessis bowling will help CSK. The bench strength has to be tested.

Morkel performed for Delhi,Steyn for Deccan so De Lange Should be given a chance today to perform for KKR

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 2:20 GMT)

IF CSK don't play good cricket today, then they can forget about the IPL trophy. KKR are not easy goers. I think CSK need to come out of overconfidence and get on to grounds of reality. Strategy of Dhoni is getting worse, like sending saha in the last KXI punjab match made us lose the chance of winning. Dhoni has to give a chance for all players but not at the cost of losing. Today's prediction - either chennai will win in Glory or lose terribly. We chennaites are famous for extreme performances. Any way Good luck Chennai :) Batting line up shall be Du Plessis with Bravo or Morkel; 1 down Bravo or Morkel; 2 down; Dhoni; 3 down Raina; 4 down Badrinath

I am an Indian. To be fair to Bangaldesh fans, I think Shakib is much better than Yusuf Pathan for KKR...Shakib should play against CSK

Posted by   on (April 30, 2012, 0:37 GMT)

Chennai is a good team but most times their batting line up is wrong, they need to bring Dwayne Bravo earlier.

Posted by trinimystry on (April 30, 2012, 0:27 GMT)

sunil narine you go strong make Trinidad & Tobago proud show the world what you are made of imagine narine, cooper, pollard and bravo plays for T&T in the champions league that would be mind boggling the four home boyz

Best Of Luck KKR :) Hope to see another win !!

shakib should be given more chances.

Posted by   on (April 29, 2012, 23:29 GMT)

CSK will be benefitted by Mike Hussey.

Posted by   on (April 29, 2012, 23:22 GMT)

Shakib is da no.1 all rounder at this moment... He should be given chance.

Posted by rongdhonu on (April 29, 2012, 22:35 GMT)

I think Kkr dont know still which combinatoin are perfect team Sakib and morgan should play place of lee and maccalam

Posted by Ha8rick on (April 29, 2012, 21:59 GMT)

A team can only have 4 foreign players. McCullum, Kallis, Narine, Lee fills up that quota easily and they have done well so far.

Dear Bangladeshi fans: Please quit posting the same comments over and over again about Shakib and try to understand the limitation of foreign players on the side.

tenDo, Morgan, Shakib are all match winners and unfortunately they have to sit out unless one of the above mentioned players get hurt or fall sick. Shakib will get an opportunity again if it's a spinning track. I feel bad for tenDo. I still remember the 70 odd runs he scored last year at the end of the season when everyone in the team failed. He comes it too much down the order. Feel bad for Morgan also as he has not even played a single game so far.

I just hope KKR comes to its senses and sits Yousuf Pathan out. He is complete opposite to an All Rounder. KKR would be better off on finding a new local talent from it's bench.

Good luck KKR.

In this edition KKR is performing well and they have hold the second position after crossing halfway.

Posted by Ibra95 on (April 29, 2012, 21:06 GMT)

if shakib & morgan don't play for sure i wont see any kkr game!!!! coz they're great & dont y kkr mangment waste such a talent. give also chances to local players....!!!!!!!!

hey tom shakib will play

We won the 2011 IPL final because of R Ashwin and Murali Vijay.S Badrinath is the cornerstone for CSK.Replacing Saha and Jakati with Murali Karthik and

Dinesh Karthik makes Chennai formidable.

For all the foxes and wolves calling CSK heavily dependent on foreign Players.....liken Mike Hussey and Matthew Hayden

Here is a list of IPL Teams not DEPENDENT on foreign Players....and only winning because of Indian PLAYERS.

RCB- Gayle AB DeVillers Vettori Murali.(Pure local breds) Deccan Chargers-Steyn, JP Duminy,C White.((Pure local breds) Mumbai Indians-Malings,K Pollard(Pure local breds) Rajasthan Royals-Shane Watson, Shan, Hogg,Hodge.(Pure Local Breds) King XI-Azhar Mahmood,David Hussey,Shaun Marsh. Delhi-Morkel,KP,Ross Taylor and David Warner. Pune Warriors-Smith,Ryder,Samuels, Michael Pup Clarke. KKR-Sunil Narine,B McCullum,Great Kallis.

For all the Patnayaks/CSK Bashers/Hypocrites....

Calling CSK heavily dependent on foreign players is preposterous. In fact Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi are the only teams which can survive depending only on

local lads.Dinesh Karthik, Murali Karthik, L Balaji all performing for the respective sides. In this scenario Mumbai will always be the strongest team, since

their local talent is amazing. So will be (amazing) Delhi and Chennai. And these three will dominate the rest for considerable period.

Dhoni from Jharkand Rain from UP Jakati from Goa R Jadega from Saurashtra

The above states do not have respective IPL teams,So these guys should be pooled in a fair auction. Rightfully CSK should return Saha to West Bengal or KKR (for better loyalty:nothing against Saha)

sure csk gonna face tough task against KKR...wit GG in his peak form...!!
