Indian Premier League, 10th match: Royal Challengers Bangalore v Kolkata Knight Riders at Bengaluru, Apr 10, 2012
Kolkata Knight Riders won by 42 runs
10 April 2012 - day/night match (20-over match)

4.15 pm It is really game time now. Jacques Kallis is walking out to the middle and with him is Gautam Gambhir, he's not batting at No. 3 in this game. Gambhir's helmet is extremely bright yellow. Or is that gold? Zaheer Khan, and his new hairstyle, has the new ball, bowling from over the wicket. Gayle's at first slip, there are no others. A short cover point in place.

4.10 pm So this delay caused by an electrical short circuit is still not over. Vijay Mallya and Anil Kumble in Royal Challengers jerseys are looking into the matter. Kumble looks stern, but he usually does. Mallya is more cheerful and waving to the fans.

Debashis: "People from Bangladesh are happy for selecting Shakib in the game today. Cheers Bangladesh!!!"

Faraz: "What has McDonald done wrong to sit out?" Not much, to be honest. He gave Royal Challengers a fast start and bowled economically in their first game. But someone had to give way for Gayle. And it couldn't be AB, Danny V or Murali.

4.00 pm Game time folks. And for a Tuesday afternoon, the Chinnaswamy is packed and a sea of red. Just spotted Gayle sneaking a yawn on the field, I don't think he'll be yawning while batting!

There's a delay because of some electrical problem at the ground. It isn't expected to be a long one. But it is long enough for the players to go off the ground.

James: "Thousands of fans going bonkers. Big game about to start. Tension? Not for Chris G! "Sneaks a yawn". How cool is that man?"

3.50 pm "Tendo and Shakib! Risky, but it's great to see those two back in the side. Real boost to the batting," says Gareth. So technically, Knight Riders can bat all the way down to No. 10.

Rachit: "I support KKR's decision to play both Shakib and Tendo. Lot of firework at the top wont win you matches consistently. The team with the best batsmen from 4 to 7 will win the trophy."

In other news, and it may or may not matter to you, Royal Challengers wicketkeeper batsman AB de Villiers is now engaged. Here's what he said on Twitter today: "Got engaged to the girl of my dreams, Danielle Swart, at the Taj Mahal 2 days ago. It was an amazing experience! Will share some pics soon."

3.40 pm The start of the game is 20 minutes away, in the meantime have you checked out our Fan Network? And if you're going to an IPL game, you could write about it for us and it will get posted on that page. Details here.

Toss, 3.30 pm Vettori flips the coin, Gambhir calls tails. It's a head. Royal Challengers will bowl first. Chris Gayle is playing for Royal Challengers today, so his groin injury must be better. That's the only change for the home side, but it's a massive one. Andrew McDonald is the one to miss out, and he played well in the previous game, but someone had to make way for Gayle.

Knight Riders have two overseas changes as well. New Zealand opener Brendon McCullum and West Indian spinner Sunil Narine have been replaced Bangladesh allrounder Shakib Al Hasan and Netherlands allrounder Ryan ten Doeschate.

3.25 pm Good afternoon and welcome to ESPNcricinfo's ball-by-ball coverage of the IPL. Royal Challengers Bangalore are hosting Kolkata Knight Riders in the first game of today's double-header, and I've been told the noise at the Chinnaswamy stadium is so loud that it can be heard about two kilometres away.

The toss is at 3.30 pm, have you read our preview of the game yet? Royal Challengers won their first game, while Knight Riders have lost two out of two.

Vinay Kumar to Shukla, 2 runs, backs away and pulls and slower ball towards deep midwicket, the throw from the fielder to the keeper is a shocker and the batsmen run an overthrow

Patel to Lee, 1 run, good length outside off, hit hard but to cover

Patel to Shukla, OUT, Zaheer's taken a superbly judged catch! Shukla slogged at a short of length ball, top-edging it high on the leg side, I think Zaheer had to run from mid-on to his right and catch the ball around the wide mid-on region

LR Shukla c Khan b Patel 5 (10m 8b 0x4 0x6) SR: 62.50

Patel to Lee, SIX, Lee's got a full toss and he's smashed it, getting under the ball and lofting over long-on

Patel to Lee, 1 run, a slower full toss and Lee mis-hits it towards the leg side

Patel to Bhatia, FOUR, a slower ball down leg side, fine leg is in the circle and Bhatia knows that, he waits and paddles it past the fielder, finishing the innings with a boundary

6.00pm I'd say that 165 is about par on this surface, with Gayle in the Bangalore line-up. Kolkata were on course to score much more, but lost their way after Bisla and Gambhir fell. Vinay Kumar was the best bowler, using changes of pace to finish with 2 for 18 in four overs.

Abhishek: "Am I the only one to have noticed that the 4th to 8th batsmen have scored sequentially from 1 to 5?" Not really, my inbox is flooded. But yours was spotted early.
