Indian Premier League - 55th match

Deccan Chargers v Delhi Daredevils

Delhi Daredevils won by 9 wickets (with 20 balls remaining)

Shikhar Dhawan and Daniel Harris to open the innings for Deccan Chargers. Harris will take strike to IPL debutant Russell! A slip in place.

Delhi hold the edge in the head-to-head, 6-4. Speaking of the debutant, Russell has an ODI batting and bowling average of 32 and 28 respectively, which isn't too bad for starters. Of course, he has played only 21 games so far.

3.30 pm, Toss: Kumar Sangakkara has won the toss and decided to bat first, Sehwag wanted to field first anyway.

Kumar Sangakkara: Need to hold our nerves to win the games. Difficult to read the track, so want to bat first. Our goal is to win all the games from here. JP Duminy is back into the playing 11 and he replaces Rusty Theron. Manpreet Gony and TP Sudhindra also come into the 11.

Interesting, that means that all overseas players for the Chargers are frontline batsmen!

Virender Sehwag: The reason for the change in fortunes is the change in time and change in a couple of players. Andre Russell gets his first game, Venugopal Rao also comes into the 11. Ross Taylor is out because of a niggle, as is Umesh Yadav.

3.20 pm: Hello and a warm welcome to the 55th game of this season's IPL as Deccan Chargers hosts the Delhi Daredevils at Hyderabad. The Chargers continue to languish at the bottom of the pile while Delhi need this win to reclaim their top spot. On paper and on form, this seems to be a bit of a mismatch, of course with the usual 'conditions apply' remark associated with a format as uncertain as this. I am Suneer Chowdhary and will be with you through this and the next game between the Rajasthan Royals and the Chennai Super Kings.

Kapil: "Can't quite understand DC's tactics.. Even if they end up scoring 190, do they have the bowlers to defend it? They should have opted to bowl and tried restricting Delhi to 160 - 170..." Restricted how? A look at their bowling line-up will never send shivers down the opponent's spine.

Aaron to Duminy, 1 run, length ball, outside the off stump, goes for a heave, gets another inside edge and goes to short mid-wicket, they are away for a quick single

Aaron to White, OUT, goes for a pull, shorter ball and that is top-edged by White, goes in the air towards the square-leg region, Ojha runs from behind the stumps, as do some of the players on the leg side, but in the end, it is the wicket-keeper who pouches it.

CL White c †Ojha b Aaron 65 (66m 40b 7x4 2x6) SR: 162.50

pitched up and drilled through extra-cover for a four! That is an excellent shot to get to 180

Aaron to Duminy, FOUR

19.6

Aaron to Duminy, FOUR, four more to end the innings, it was a full-toss, a low one at that and Duminy has only timed it away through extra-cover for a four...

This is an excellent end from the Chargers, after they had got only 64 in their first 10 overs. Shikhar Dhawan's fine form continued for him, as did Cameron White, they made 84 and 65 respectively. The Delhi bowlers did lose their way in the middle of the innings, too many to free their arms, too many full-tosses.

This will not be easy, will the target of 188, but Delhi, of course, have the batting prowess to chase this down. Back in 10 after a cup of coffee.
