Indian Premier League - 35th match

Pune Warriors v Deccan Chargers

Deccan Chargers won by 18 runs

Sangakkara is not opening for Chargers. Parthiv Patel is partnering Shikhar Dhawan. If it's broke, try and fix it. Ashish Nehra to open the bowling from over the wicket ...

7.50 pm Dale Steyn isn't playing for Deccan Chargers today, Rusty Theron is. Manpreet Gony also gets a game for Chargers, replacing Veer Pratap Singh. And Ashish Reddy is in for Anand Rajan.

Pune Warriors have made two changes. Marlon Samuels is in for Luke Wright, and Bhuveneshwar Kumar replaces Murali Kartik.

Digish: "Rusty for Dale!!! That's the final nail in charger's coffin... way to drop the only man who was performing spectacularly in Charger's side...." Not sure why Steyn isn't playing today. No reports of if he is unfit.

7.40 pm Yuvraj on dealing with cancer: "It was hard for me to digest when I was diagnosed. that's the way life is. I've fought a tough battle, it's been gruelling for me and my family. I've had a lot of support ... a lot of love. At the moment I'm fine, hopefully I can return soon ... Chemotherapy is tough on the body, but I was positive. If you have your family's support it helps ... I had support from the nation.

"I'm starting to feel better, eating a lot of organic food. Doesn't taste good but I eat it. I'm starting to walk more ... I wanted to go and take guard today but I was happy to hit a few balls and see my team-mates. I can't say a time [when he'll come back]. Maybe two or three months. Depends on my body. Hopefully I'll come back fast."

Toss, 7.30 pm "It's good to see him, he's in the dug out," Ganguly says about Yuvraj. This might or might not matter to you: Yuvraj had said he would be bringing scissors to cut Ganguly's hair. But Ganguly's gone and got a haircut himself.

Kumar Sangakkara has called correctly and Deccan Chargers will bat. Ganguly says he would have bowled. Sangakkara reckons the pitch will keep low and there will be turn later in the game, though it is only 20 overs. Ganguly disagrees, saying it will remain good for 40 overs.

7.15 pm Good evening, and welcome to ESPNcricinfo's ball-by-ball coverage of game 35 of IPL 2012. Nearly half-way there. Today's match is between Pune Warriors and Deccan Chargers, in Pune. Warriors are sixth in the points table while Chargers, well, are still last. A victory for Warriors will take them to No. 2, though they would have played a game more than the competition below them. Victory for Chargers will not take them anywhere, but it will give them two points to add to the one they got because of rain at Eden Gardens.

Take a look at the points table. There's been some movement in the middle over the last few days.

Yuvraj Singh is at the stadium for today's game. There were pictures of him and Robin Uthappa in an emotional embrace. Yuvraj huddled with his Warriors team-mates, talking to them, looking in high spirits.

Warriors' previous game was against Delhi Daredevils, and Virender Sehwag handed them a thrashing. Chargers' previous game was against Knight Riders, but rain ruined the contest at Eden Gardens. Their game before that was also against Knight Riders, in Cuttack, where Kumar Sangakkara's team suffered a fifth straight defeat.

Thomas to Jaggi, 1 run, Jaggi mis-times the last ball towards cover, and Deccan will only get a single

9.40 pm Deccan Chargers have posted a competitive total on a good batting pitch. Cameron White was the architect of that score. Duminy played a cameo but no one else did very much. White's been in poor form during most of his IPL campaigns, but he came good today, making his maiden IPL fifty. "You just have to believe you've done it before and can come back strong," White says. He signs off by saying it'd be nice to get two points.

Sagar: "Prediction time - Deccan will pull off a nail-biting win and (finally!) finish a game ..."

Neal likes to pun. Here's his effort: "Instead of doing a mega job for his team, Duminy has been told to "do a mini" job I suppose."

Chris: "Why the complaints about White? Game 1, top score 23 off 16, Game 2, 30* off 22, Game 5 (failed) 10 off 9, and this game top score 78 off 46. Maybe his early innings weren't pretty, but you could argue few T20 innings are."

End of over 20 (9 runs) Deccan Chargers 177/4
IR Jaggi    10* (7b)      AC Thomas    4-0-27-0
JP Duminy    26* (24b 1x6)      A Nehra    4-0-29-0
