Indian Premier League - 46th match

Chennai Super Kings v Deccan Chargers

Chennai Super Kings won by 10 runs

Murali Vijay will open the innings with Faff du Plessis. There is no Hussey in the line-up today, which is strange given that he played in the last game with a jet-lag. Ankit Sharma will bowl.

7.30 pm, Toss: MS Dhoni has won the toss and Chennai will bat, that is the 12th time at home that the Super Kings have won the toss and batted first! And they have won 12 tosses.

Kumar Sangakkara says he would have batted first too.

Chennai have dropped Michael Hussey and got in Ben Hilfenhaus and there is place for Murali Vijay as well, who opens the innings. Deccan have Abhishek Jhunjhunwala and Daniel Christian playing for them tonight. That means JP Duminy sits out as well.

7.25 pm Till we get to the toss, which isn't too far away, have a look at the preview to this game.

Hello and welcome to our live commentary tonight, as Chennai Super Kings host the Deccan Chargers in the 46th game of the Indian Premier League. I am Suneer Chowdhary and will be your commentator for the evening.

It has been a struggle for the Chargers this season, but they have shown a bit of a spark in their previous few games, winning two of their last three games.

Relatively, the two-time defending champions Chennai Super Kings are not in the best of forms - not at all, if you compare their show with the reputation they came into the tournament. Nine points from 10 games, but they last tasted a win on April 21.

Last over of the innings, interestingly, barring Steyn, who has bowled his four, anyone else can bowl this over for the Chargers! It is Christian.

19.1

Christian to Dhoni, OUT, length ball, wanted to pull him away, but the bottom-edge hits the stumps. This is a huge wicket as it brings a new batsman to the crease and also on strike!

MS Dhoni b Christian 34 (51m 28b 2x4 0x6) SR: 121.42

Gaurav: "Was someone earlier saying that Chennai doesnt require Badrinath for stabilizing the innings since Jadeja can do that job as well?"

19.2

Christian to Badrinath, 1 run, outside the off stump, tries to pull it away but it goes only to the long-on fielder for a single. He is batting at eight for the first time in IPL.

19.3

Christian to Bravo, 2 runs, full-toss and dropped! How can you drop so many catches in a tournament is beyond me. The batsman went for a pull, gets the bottom of the blade and it went high to the off side and Ankit Sharma has dropped a steepler.

19.4

Christian to Bravo, SIX, this is how you make them pay when they drop simple catches, smacked high up and that has cleared the deep mid-wicket fielder for a six!

19.5

Christian to Bravo, 2 runs, pitched up to the bat, hits it inside out and goes to wide long-off for a couple. Turning out to be a decent over after the first ball wicket.

19.6

Christian to Bravo, 2 runs, goes outside the off stump, slams it to long-on and they are able to come back for a second. Chennai have been able to get to 160 in their 20 overs.

Chennai scored 82 in their first 10 overs and 78 in their next 10. The pitch is a little slow and there were many a slower balls attempted, some came off, some were slapped around. Generally, taking the pace off was a good idea.

Faff top-scored for Chennai with his 42, while there were 30s from Raina and Dhoni. Two wickets for VP Singh, but Jhunjhunwala's 1/13 off his three was the best of the lot.

End of over 20 (13 runs) Chennai Super Kings 160/6
DJ Bravo    12* (4b 1x6)      DT Christian    4-0-35-1
S Badrinath    1* (1b)      A Ashish Reddy    2-0-16-1
