Indian Premier League - 52nd match

Pune Warriors v Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals won by 7 wickets (with 22 balls remaining)

3.55pm A surprise move from Dada. He's opening the innings today; in the last match he batted at No. 7.

Ankeet Chavan to open the bowling.

3.45pm Hasan: "I do agree..Tamim Iqbal must get a chance, at least for 2 games. Ferguson deserves another chance, too. The problem seems in IPL that the team managements depends on Names rather than performances!!"

Ravi B: "I think the problem with Pune team is they don't have a stable openers. They keep shuffling them in every match. For any team to do well in any format of the game, having stable opening combination is a must. Mumbai also has tinkered with opening combination a lot in this season but somehow they are winning matches mainly because of their bowling attack. Unfortunately, Pune lacks there as well."

Joy Bajaj: "RR should have selected Hogg ahead of Botha since PWI (along the expected lines) are playing 6 right-handed batsmen. Botha has struggled to stop the run flow. Atleast Hogg has been deceiving & picks up wickets."

Naveenraju: "There is no piont dropping Clarke for Ferguson or Tamim. If Luke Wright is available he should have been given a chance!!" He isn't.

Gareth: "The anti-clarke sentiment is weak. He's a quality player no matter the format and brings so much with bat, ball and in the field. I doubt he'd be criticised as much if it wasn't for the fact the rest of the side was under-performing."

PDTM is among many wondering why Hogg isn't playing: "Didn't even realise that Hogg wasn't playing. How can they justify leaving him out, no one has read the googly yet this season. Pounce on Pune after they have recently struggled against Narine."

3.30pm It's Rahul Dravid v Sourav Ganguly. Pune win the toss and decide to bat. Dinda is out, Ashish Nehra comes back. "We pushed him in the last two games, but he's got the A tour ahead, and is on the fringes of the national team, so he needs to get fully fit," Ganguly says.

All teams who have won the toss at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium have chosen to bat.

Rajasthan make one change, Owais Shah comes in for the injured Hodge. So Tait gets another game. After the win over Kings XI, Dravid had said he was happy with the "firepower" that the addition of Tait and Watson provided.

Anyone else thinks Michael Clarke should have been dropped? Perhaps giving another game to Callum Ferguson or a debut for Tamim Iqbal.

One change Pune have made, is bringing in Anustup Majumdar for Manish Pandey.

"Why no Jesse Ryder these days?" Six single-digit scores in nine innings is not good enough for an overseas player, Whizz.

3.20pm Greetings, a game between two teams struggling to stay in the race for the play-offs. Pune Warriors are probably already out of the reckoning, while Rajasthan Royals will likely need to win four of their five remaining matches to make it.

Injury concerns first: Ashok Dinda, who missed several matches due to a side strain, and wasn't at his best in the two matches he played since returning from that problem. He might sit out today's game due to the same problem resurfacing.

Wayne Parnell walks out

19.3

Tait to Parnell, 1 run, short of length ball that is top-edged towards square leg, Tait had to race towards it as there's no fielder close in, the keeper was also after it, Tait is closer to it but even after his sprint he can't get to it, Parnell survives

19.4

Tait to Smith, no run, 143kph high full toss just over the stumps, smith had moved across but he couldn't get bat on it,the umpire correctly deems that it wasn't above waist high

19.5

Tait to Smith, 1 run, nudged towards backward square leg for a single

19.6

Tait to Parnell, 1 run, full toss on middle to finish, worked towards midwicket for a single, just three off the last over, ties for the most economical final over this season, Pune end on 125 for 6

Both teams had wanted to bat first on this slow track, but Pune have found it hard going, hardly anyone could strike at a run-a-ball, only Majumdar in his first game managed a couple of sixes to make 30 off 20. Just five fours in the innings, the lowest this season.

Rajasthan's bowler were solid as well, hardly giving away any freebies, making the batsmen work for the runs. Tait was the stand-out, finishing with 3 for 13 in his four overs.

It seems like a paltry score, but Mumbai defended 120 here less than a week ago. Can Pune do the same? The chase begins shortly.

Ritu: "@Tim: This IPL surely will also help forget the latest India - Australia series and the forgettable Indian show down under.."

Ravdeep Mehta: "What is going on PWI....Even Mr. Manmohan Singh's speech is more exciting than this innings!!"

SPD Smith    18* (22b 1x4)      SR Watson    4-0-28-0
