Indian Premier League - 68th match

Deccan Chargers v Rajasthan Royals

Deccan Chargers won by 5 wickets (with 8 balls remaining)

JP Duminy to open the bowling, to Rahul Dravid at the other end. Ajinkya Rahane is the other opener as expected.

Just wondering, whether Chris Lynn is the lowest-profile overseas player to get a game this season?

Sandeep Korrapati: "Why aren't DC playing Tanmay Mishra who is an international player and more experienced few in the Team. Are they looking just to practice for next season by experimenting with new combinations every match?"

Surendranadh V: "This is unbelievable...After so many losses batting first even when they scored 180 or above, White is still looking to bat?

Penalising players is not enough; it's time to pull up and rein in the franchises, says Sharda Ugra.

Toss: Cameron White will captain the Deccan Chargers in place of Kumar Sangakkara. Sangakkara's resting tonight, after a rather poor season with the bat. Tails called by Rahul Dravid, and his team will bat first.

Dravid: We like to bat first, we like to set totals, Brad Hodge is out to an injury and Owais Shah comes in.

White: We were going to bat first, Chris Lynn comes in for Kumar Sangakkara, Steyn's playing.

7.20 pm With five games remaining, only two of the four playoffs berths have been decided, Delhi and Kolkata are through to the second stage. Mumbai, Bangalore, Punjab, Rajasthan and Chennai can all make it to the playoffs and you can look at the various scenarios here.

The 68th game of the Indian Premier League this season will see the Deccan Chargers host the Rajasthan Royals at Hyderabad tonight. Rajasthan are still in with a chance to qualify for the playoffs but for that to happen, for starters, they need to win this one.

The Chargers were the first side to crash out of the tournament this season, but this game has something in it for them; if they can win this one and the next game and Pune lose their last match, the Chargers can push Pune to the last position in the table. I am Suneer Chowdhary here and will take you through the live commentary of this match.

The drop earlier by Patel costs the side not too much. Shane Watson has walked out at three.

Gony to Dravid, no run, on the off stump, short of length, driven back to the bowler

2.3

Gony to Dravid, 1 run, on the middle stump, pitched up, flicked away to wide mid-on for a single

"Normally, when a catch is put down, you guys would put the word 'dropped' in bold font in your commentary. But I guess with DC's fielding, it has become such a routine occurence that it doesn't even merit a bold font now!!" Well 'caught', Siddharth!

2.4

Gony to Watson, FOUR, short ball from Gony, outside the off stump and Watson has pulled it away through mid-wicket for a four!

2.5

Gony to Watson, no run, outside the off stump again but this time it on a length and defended to the off side by Watson

Good start from Deccan Chargers, the worries mount after Steyn ends his first spell.

4.1

Gony to Watson, no run, short of good length, Watson is on the back foot and defends perfectly to the off side

4.2

Gony to Watson, no run, length ball on the off stump, driven to the off side, mistimed and straight to the short cover fielder

4.3

Gony to Watson, 1 run, dropped again, more difficult this time but Dhawan should have caught it, flicked it away to a one that is pitched up and the diving Dhawan floors it!

4.4

Gony to Dravid, FOUR, dropped, again? How can they do this to their bowlers? drilled to mid-on and it was going quickly to the fielder, who tips it over the bar at that position to the fence for a four! This is really poor from the Chargers

4.5

Gony to Dravid, 1 run, short ball, pulled away to deep square-leg for a single

4.6

Gony to Watson, SIX, and he makes you pay for the drops, pitched slightly up and that has been tonked over the straight boundary for a 86 metre long six.

So all the batsmen who have made it out to the middle so far, have been dropped once each. Rahane did not make them pay, will Dravid and Watson do?

5.6

Pratap Singh to Dravid, FOUR, pitched up this one, on the stumps and Dravid was trying to drive it, inside edge and goes to fine-leg for a streaky boundary

OA Shah run out 28 (58m 32b 1x4 0x6) SR: 87.50

This has been an excellent bowling effort from Deccan Chargers, it may not be a quick-paced pitch but it does not seem like a 120-odd track either. 127 should not pose too many questions for the Chargers despite all what has happened in the tournament before this.

Mishra, who got 2/20 in his four, says that there is help for the spinners on this track, turn and bounce. His wicket of Shane Watson was a beauty. Back in 10.
