Why will anyone buy Nathan Coulter-Nile at a price of $450,000? Unless they are hugely impressed by his Econ. of 7.9 and SR of 21. Someone must have said "This bowler will give me 31/1 in his 4 overs every game. That's what I want from my premier fast bowler. Give him all the cash we have."

How many "Cricket Advisers", Nita Ambani needs to run Mumbai Indians? 1. John Wright 2. Anil Kumble 3. Robin Singh 4.Shaun Pollock 5. Johnty Rhodes 6. Ricky Ponting 7.Sachin Tendulkar 8. Harbhajan Singh 9. Zaheer Khan... Did I miss anyone else? Yes, many of the overseas players at fancy prices, adoring the dug-out, because of the limitation of the number of overseas players, you can include in the playing XI. These are in addition to an Army of other support staff! (They can as well field a veteran's XI. If there is no veterans IPL, organise one!

Posted by Ozchris on (February 3, 2013, 12:38 GMT)

Adam Voges, Vernon Philander and Tim Paine would've been in my side. Terrific players in great form. Crazy they've been passed in.

Posted by usernames on (February 3, 2013, 12:20 GMT)

I think Rajasthan could have gone for Finch given the way the auction went and Matthew Wade.

Posted by fasih123 on (February 3, 2013, 11:33 GMT)

IPL is a gamble i ccant blv why prioir is unsold.i hope PSL is better

Posted by BRUTALANALYST on (February 3, 2013, 11:18 GMT)

Biggest disappointment is AARON PHANGISO for me did no one see him in the CLT20 ? he was only askin 20 k as well hopefully someone has some sense and calls him up if any replacement is needed as he showed he can keep it tight and field as well as anyone he could of had a Narine like affect

Posted by Hardy1 on (February 3, 2013, 11:10 GMT)

Why have the Daredevils bought Ryder (great T20 player that he is) when they've got Jayawardene, Taylor, Warner & Pietersen as it is. Some of the big buys seem very odd indeed. Strange that Matt Prior still hasn't gotten a gig (best of the bunch of WKs who haven't I reckon, Chandimal's pretty good too) considering his average & SR in T20 matches, guess it must be 'cos of the Eng-NZ test series. Finch, Guptill, Voges, Vilas, Hopes, Bishoo, Herath (especially), Benn & Rohrer were all unlucky. I reckon if Starc hadn't pulled out the IPL would've made him a millionaire today. Bailey would've sold too.

Aaron Finch unsold????? does anybody wanted him??? :O $700000 for Kane Richardson??? are you Kidding me???

Posted by cheesemethod on (February 3, 2013, 10:45 GMT)

Im not surprised about bollinger not getting a bid. Dan christian unsold is a big mistake, great allrounder who hits big

Posted by ravat_sehab on (February 3, 2013, 10:43 GMT)

Guptil,Bollinger,Philander why unsold. Maxwell,Richardson,Coulter-Nile,Senanayake,Morris,Sammy and Faulkner paid to much.

Posted by jazzaaaaaaaa on (February 3, 2013, 10:39 GMT)

Aaron Finch is unlucky, one of the leading run scorers in the BBL, I would say he is a victim of a couple of poor showings in the recent ODI series. He would of been a great buy.

Posted by pull_shot on (February 3, 2013, 10:32 GMT)

Million-dollar man Maxwell has just been hit for 6,6,6,6 by a player who has total 2 6's in carrierof 39 odi's

Posted by ankursilverstone on (February 3, 2013, 10:30 GMT)

KKR bags ryan mclawren..n MI bags jacob oram..its not yet updated here

Posted by pull_shot on (February 3, 2013, 10:29 GMT)

who r mumbai indians mentor for buying's in ipl no logic at all

Posted by AwiE2004 on (February 3, 2013, 10:24 GMT)

I'm wondered of seeing the auction..... the players who r never in their national scheme r having more money than the experienced one..... even many experienced r wasted away

Posted by sonu77 on (February 3, 2013, 9:59 GMT)

Great buy from KKR.I think Senanayake will be a great partner for narine.I saw him playing latter part of the Big Bash League for sixers & he bowled very economically.though he is an offie,he can bowl in power play too.

Posted by Yuvis_XI on (February 3, 2013, 9:53 GMT)

So much money for Kane Richardson and Senanayaka and a player like Ryan McLaren goes unsold! These owners are just crazy. Wonder what insights these so called cricket experts and mentors in each team have about such players!

Posted by csent on (February 3, 2013, 9:39 GMT)

Vijay, Faf, Huss/Bravo, Raina, Jadeja, Badri, Dhoni, Albie, Ben/Nannes, Ashwin, one more pacer from india will be enough for title. :)

Posted by   on (February 3, 2013, 9:37 GMT)

CSK need one or two indian fast bowlers!!

Posted by Bruisers on (February 3, 2013, 9:31 GMT)

$625,000 for Senanayake and Morris?? What a joke! No bids for Aaron Finch? OMG.

Posted by sameeratharanga on (February 3, 2013, 9:29 GMT)

Where is Ricado powell ?

Posted by StevieS on (February 3, 2013, 9:20 GMT)

I said yesterday that Ryder would be the bargain of the tournament, a steal at 260k, for the life of me I can't see how anyone would rate Ponting or Clark a better 20/20 batsman than Ryder and as for Maxwell, who is he anyway? More money than brains.

Posted by bilalazeem40 on (February 3, 2013, 9:17 GMT)

Parera is much better than maxwell . specially in indian conditions he must be Millioner

Posted by Easwar76 on (February 3, 2013, 9:14 GMT)

I think hazlewood to play for CSK. He is that tall and middle 145kmh bowler. go cake to buy him.

Posted by piyush_Daredevils on (February 3, 2013, 9:12 GMT)

what is royals goiing to do with so many fast bowlers.............good buys for them...but too many ...........

Posted by swissjacko on (February 3, 2013, 9:10 GMT)

$1m for glenn maxwell! outrageous. he has barely played a game. the money thrown around is ridiculous making millionaires out of questionably talented players. insult to legends of yesteryear who played for nothing. Maxwell made a first ball duck today too

Posted by SRI.RAJA on (February 3, 2013, 8:58 GMT)

do anyone knows why csk is silent in this auction and has bought only 1 player. also why it has left doug bollinger

Posted by nzcricket174 on (February 3, 2013, 8:50 GMT)

Can't believe A. Maxwell got a million, B. Ryder sold for only 260k, McCullum only 100k, C. Philander and Guptill didn't sell at all, and D. Ponting and Clarke got bids at all.

Posted by BRUTALANALYST on (February 3, 2013, 8:47 GMT)

@Syedmd Shaval Agree Elton Chikambura for 1 should be in IPl making big money, he's one of the most destructive batsman and bowls he has some great stats to his name

Posted by vak1997 on (February 3, 2013, 8:43 GMT)

Bolllinger out? that's strange! at least RCB/RR could have gone for him instead of buying Fidel and Rampaul. well, KKR could have taken him as a back-up for Lee or PWI to strengthen their bowling.

Posted by   on (February 3, 2013, 8:35 GMT)

Great opening Pair Sachin & Ponting & Maxwell & Pollard at the end beautiful line up for mumbai

Posted by scarab666 on (February 3, 2013, 8:25 GMT)

Who really gives a stuff about who is in which team, the IPL has lost all its uniqueness......it is now so boring to watch. Outside of India nobody cares who wins.

Posted by LegB4wkt on (February 3, 2013, 8:23 GMT)

The best buy of the season : A hot property like Thisara Perera for 675k while a player like Maxwell going for 1 mil. My jaws dropped when I saw Maxwell had gone for 1 mil. Thisara is 10 times better than him in every department.

Posted by ravi2047 on (February 3, 2013, 8:21 GMT)

Aaron Finch, Mathew Wade, Tim Pane, Ravi Bopara, Vernon Philander were good buys who missed out on the sold list.

Posted by jonesy2 on (February 3, 2013, 8:19 GMT)

people are surely not surprised that philander didnt get bought? he cant play t20 and would be absolutely destroyed on the wickets in india.

Posted by   on (February 3, 2013, 8:16 GMT)

surprise 2 c any Zimbabwe & ireland players in auction who r excellent from in BPL.

Posted by squarepeg on (February 3, 2013, 8:08 GMT)

Best buy undoubtedly Nathan McCullum. Worst pass- Dananjay @ $20,000 when Ajantha Mendis goes for 725000!! KKR missed a bet here. At half way mark, Hyderabad looks still out of sorts and Pune doesn't know who they need!

Posted by class9ryan on (February 3, 2013, 8:08 GMT)

d teams have bought players according 2 their requirements ... The only bad decision i saw was from RCB buying Unadkat .. they could have gone for Nayar with the money they ve bought Unadkat

Posted by varun.aneet on (February 3, 2013, 8:08 GMT)

CSK buying Dirk Nannes is very very huge boost for them.. the only chink missing in their armory last season was a quality fast bowler, the gap which they have filled up now.. Undoubtedly, they are the huge favorites again..

Posted by Harmony111 on (February 3, 2013, 8:03 GMT)

Haha Ravi Bopara unsold --- he was the one who went unsold in 2011 and was later offered a contract but he said no to it saying he wud put country above club and look at his state right now. He is neither in Eng's Test team nor in the ODI team not even in the T20 team and now --- not even in IPL.

Posted by micky.vij on (February 3, 2013, 7:58 GMT)

i m amazed why punjab not goin to buy bollinger

Posted by pull_shot on (February 3, 2013, 7:58 GMT)

Great Ricky pointing get 2/5 th of glen maxwell got shame on ipl

Posted by Aussasinator on (February 3, 2013, 7:56 GMT)

Ponting will fail of course and sit out most of the time. A silly buy. Clarke too will fail. Darren Sammy will bat better than both.

Posted by solefight on (February 3, 2013, 7:47 GMT)

SHOCK OF LIFE ... 1 maxwell > 1 PONTING + 1 CLARKE... Phew this is simply not cricket...

Posted by BRUTALANALYST on (February 3, 2013, 7:40 GMT)

No 1 got PHILANDER or PHANGISO r u joking ? No1 got Tim Paine or Darren Bravo ? disappointing ISHOO would have been good buy to as there isn't many leg spinners in IPL

Posted by sahbas_s on (February 3, 2013, 7:40 GMT)

surprised to guptill and vernon in the unsold list...

Posted by MWaugh9994 on (February 3, 2013, 7:39 GMT)

Based on his form in Australia, I reckon Thisara Perera will seem like the best buy this season...

Posted by jonesy2 on (February 3, 2013, 7:12 GMT)

some shocks like finch, wade, guptill, voges and paine being unsold. some bargains aswell particularly ryder and hughes

Posted by BRUTALANALYST on (February 3, 2013, 7:05 GMT)

Maxwel'ls ego is going to be unbearable now if it wasn't already HAHA

Posted by   on (February 3, 2013, 6:58 GMT)

Posted by youfoundme on (February 3, 2013, 6:57 GMT)
