Sahara Pune Warriors is the best team so far in IPL 2013..They have good Indian Players as well the Overseas players...

No Bangladeshi (Nasir, Sohag Gazi, Mominul) No Afgani (Zadran) !! Why Is That ?? Out Of My Mind !!

Posted by ftitumir on (February 4, 2013, 11:40 GMT)

Seleucus! No Bangladeshi in the Auction..........& such a waste of money!

Posted by   on (February 4, 2013, 10:28 GMT)

No afghani player in ipl 2013?? Any body can tell me

Posted by Rajeev129 on (February 4, 2013, 8:58 GMT)

@HambaanakaKewa: If coaches are the reason for Australians, then Mumbai had 6/7 players of that nation without any link from their coach and still they bought Maxwell for $1m.

Maxwell's worth is not in his bowling / batting skills. He is a typical Australian, who never want to give up in a match and a brilliant and AGRESSIVE player in the field.

Finch, Guptil, Wade, Prior, Philander, bolinger, Bopara, Herath, Suliman Ben Should have been in IPL. But the problem is only 4 foreigners can play makes them unsold.

Posted by kc69 on (February 4, 2013, 7:31 GMT)

Hyderabad have enough Foreign players as well as a good pace attack(Steyn,Ishant Sharma,Darren Sammy,Thisara Parera,Sudeep Tyagi and good spin combo-Amit Mishra and Nathan Mccullum, along with Sanga,Parthiv Patel and De Kcok behind the wickets but they need to work on getting Indian players especially batsmen.)

Posted by Ashish_514 on (February 4, 2013, 6:36 GMT)

@Junaid Ahmed Khan- Please understand that the franchisees want to make the most of money and options available to them. A major factor in deciding the players and prices is their availability for the whole season. They might be itching to buy the likes of Ajmal, Hafeez, Akmals, Junaid etc. But given the uncertainty of the Indo-Pak relations. They might end up having a few players in their squad who are not able to play for non cricketing reason. So they are just playing safe by not taking any pakistan player in their squad. You can also see a similar apathy towards England players due to strict rules of ECB. That's why a Mascarenhas will fetch more price than most of the established England players.

Bopara Unsold Shocking :s

Posted by   on (February 4, 2013, 5:04 GMT)

It is really sad to hear that Pakistani players are not again taken in IPL after being promised the reason being they may fetch alot of more price given to the players now so in one way they dont want us to play thats totally impartial our talent is amzing and better than other countries after Pakistan defeating India in the home series trust me we are a team to reckon no probs at all .

In the world Ranking our Spin hero Ajmal is on the top followed by Hafeez the results are near u still no further decisoin of taking the players its really bad indeed there would be no fun as usual still are team is the best aming others.

There is no way of hiding in professional cricket or any sport. Any bowler or batsman needs to excel against any opponent. Price tags given for some players seem to be unreasonable.. Yet need to wait and see how would they fit to the bill? Akhila has not been hidden by Mahela. He was kept away to get him match fit for international cricket as he was a raw talent. Mahela knows his trade and he was exposed to international cricket systematically. Its not hiding.. With today's technology, one can not hide anything from anyone..... @dilipmatrix: Phil Hughes worthless? His Twenty20 average of 52 with a strike-rate of 120 would beg to differ.

Can't beleive that K.Richardson went for 700,000 he is worth nowher near that amount. I wouldn't have payed more than 50,000 for him. Just like Hazlewood another over-rated aussie quick.

Posted by ammiel on (February 4, 2013, 1:25 GMT)

stunned that cutting and paine werent picked up, both had very good big bash campaigns

Posted by HambaanakaKewa on (February 4, 2013, 0:42 GMT)

It seem IPL has a special soft spot for Australian players. Why are they paying so much for lesser known players. I miss the point. Could they be influenced by Australian coaches in charge of IPL teams?

Posted by dilipmatrix on (February 3, 2013, 20:14 GMT)

I don't have any clue about logic of Mumbai Indians team management, why they are spending too much on worthless players like Ponting, Hughes.

And Maxwell is not worth that much, he is a player with full of talents, but clearly that is not much worth :( feel sick about their team, always relies on Pollard, Franklin and their bowlers!

CSK's picks of Dananjaya and Nanness are worth to spend, Let see how they troll the opponents in these conditions

Posted by ramkmu on (February 3, 2013, 19:39 GMT)

Help me understand why a franchise will pay $500K for Goney and $400K for RP Singh, when they cannot get into any national team? Delhi and Bangalore, please get some reasonable players for $20K, and give the remaining money to charity!

Posted by sampi72 on (February 3, 2013, 19:13 GMT)

Sri Lanka Cricket should have protected their young mystry spinner Akila Dhanajaya...If he explore to the whole world like this ...why Mahela always hidden him from International matches to protect him for the futrue....During the IPL Indian cricket board is always target their strategies.....That is what happened to Ajantha Mendis and Suraj Randiv.....One they excelled against India...Anjantha was selected to play for KKR under Gunguly and Suraj was selected to play under Dhoni....and then all you knows what happen....Same thing will be happened to young Dhanajaya under Dhoni....SLC should have requested this young man not play IPL by paying him $20,000.

Posted by   on (February 3, 2013, 19:05 GMT)

why csk is not picking up an indian bowler.......one good indian pacer just makes them even more stronger, they should have picked uo rp singh to replace yo mahesh......

Posted by lionspaw on (February 3, 2013, 19:02 GMT)

I dont like to see Akila Danajaya plays in the IPL. Look what happened to Ajantha Mendis. He was exposed to IPL after about two ODI series and Indians identified his spin and got hammered. Samething will happen to this young fellow if our SLEEPING cricket board let him to play.

sunrisers should have tried for some more indain players

Posted by priceless1 on (February 3, 2013, 18:29 GMT)

Hyderabad got so many un-predictable all rounders they need couple of specialist batsmen, hope they go for Aron Finch or Guptil before some one grab them

Posted by CaptainKool on (February 3, 2013, 16:33 GMT)

Hyderabad got some serious players there. Good to see.

Posted by   on (February 3, 2013, 15:26 GMT)

These franchises need scouts. It seems as if they see one match and then buy a player. They need to hire people who just watch competitions around the world. Then they will get value for money.

Posted by A.J.KnightRider on (February 3, 2013, 15:15 GMT)

How come KKR have added 2 international players when they already have 10 ?

Posted by Thefakebook on (February 3, 2013, 14:58 GMT)

YES Royals finally got a good player not over hyped one and future OZ all format allrounder James FAULKNER HALLA BOLLL!

Posted by   on (February 3, 2013, 14:25 GMT)

Mumbai indians are absolutely hopeless at these IPL auctions , they just seem to throw cash around with senseless buys not giving a thought as to how these new players are going to fit in with their current squad. Oram coming into a squad with Franklin and pollard is most probably going to be warming the benches through out the tournament, maxwell is going to have a very average IPL just like dan christian did last year. just gotta look at his performance in the t20 WC last year, but the franchises never learn . and seriously phil hughes? for wat exactly? they already have about a 100 openers in their squad and they want to add another to the list. all this is going to do is put serious pressure on who ever is going to be opening the batting since there are more than enough replacements in the bench if he fails!

Posted by jabbarahmed on (February 3, 2013, 14:13 GMT)

in my openion , dekock and khusal prera will becm rocky player...i really wana see good batting performance of dekock..he is talented...nice to see ponting in ipl again......

waste of selection by mumbai indians.... glen maxwell , and cris morris not worth that much

What is the role of Kings XI punjab team in IPL...they are just a head count in the tournament..their fans must move on to other teams..

Posted by Samad.Sylhet.Mitali.Raynogor on (February 3, 2013, 13:52 GMT)

There are many names on that list i don't think deserve all that a few of them i don't even remember them i mean what are they good at. Why is so many aussie and african name there i don't get it they cant even play spin. what about taking some players from the Neighbors i mean >> wouldn't that be supporting and loving your Neighbor.Common IPL BLow me away.. i would like to see what it really meant to us.

Posted by srinideva on (February 3, 2013, 13:51 GMT)

Here is avengers series in IPL in the form MI. Good thing for CSK is they get the fast bowler nanees who can work hard and commitment is also well...the problem with Bollinger is commitment,,,Please do not use hilfy for final overs..

Posted by bestway_forward on (February 3, 2013, 13:39 GMT)

Sri Lanka Cricket should think twice before exposing Akila Dananjaya to IPL. He is too young, first priority of him and SL cricket should be allow him a fair go at domestic level probably with Murali and fine tune his abilities. Unfortunately there is no projection in SL cricket these days. I hope Some of the Senior SL cricketers should advice him. Remember what happened to Murali at the World Cup final!!!!. Since the video footages a widely available, however let them make hard to find the tricks he possesses rather than giving everything for 20000US especially to Doni.

Posted by harshana.k on (February 3, 2013, 13:35 GMT)

it seems all IPL owners not focused on getting good players! when they bidding, no one l;iked to lossse! thats why things happen like kane richerdson getting $ 700000 & Aaron finch unsold!

by the way, we can wait & c, how itz gonna work for IPL owners, in the IPL!

Posted by shrastogi on (February 3, 2013, 13:35 GMT)

The IPL bidding is some kind of a joke. There is a lot of undeserved money going for some very ordinary players. If you pay 1 million for Maxwell then your cupboard is really bare as whatever little I've seen him bowl the other IPL sides would be welcoming him to bowl in India. Ponting's first T20 season for his home side and they havent qualified for even SF. It would have made some sense if MI wanted to make him captain. And who is this Kane Richardson - he seems to have good yorker but does that justify this price for a rookie ? The list continues with Senanayke, Morris etc. Lets see if this brilliant "talent" justifies the price tag.Come to think of this there should be a 5% CSR compulsion on IPL sides looking at the way they frivolously spend money.

Posted by shrivathsan on (February 3, 2013, 13:32 GMT)

CSK should have gone for a indian bowler....Whats the logic behind bidding Dirk nannes till 600,000 when the same was not done to get indian seamers?

Posted by Lakpj on (February 3, 2013, 13:13 GMT)

not sure what basis they are selecting these players, pretty average guys get huge amounts of money, where as very talented players get ignored.

Posted by bobagorof on (February 3, 2013, 12:52 GMT)

Rajesh_india_1990: I don't rate Ponting's captaincy, so I won't comment on that - but there are several batsmen who could lay claim to being the 'greatest the world has ever seen'. Tendulkar is one of them, but let's not forget some of the past greats. There are currently 15 batsmen with higher career averages than Tendulkar, several of whom have better hundreds-to-innings ratios (one guy almost doubles Tendulkar's average and betters his ratio by more than 2-1). No-one except Kallis will probably ever get near Tendulkar's number of innings, though. It will be interesting to see who finishes as leading run scorerer.

Posted by class9ryan on (February 3, 2013, 12:50 GMT)

Mumbai Indians bought Punter at the last moment almost when the hammer came down. They really are very intelligent as they know the crowds will come in huge numbers 2 see Ricky and SRT together and their pockets will be filled very quickly

Posted by avinashbalu on (February 3, 2013, 12:48 GMT)

adam voges is far better than jeevan mendis.DDR should by him

Posted by vomhorizon on (February 3, 2013, 12:36 GMT)

Any idea as to why K XI Punjab did not look to pick up a leader ? Gilly wont be around for ever and they really should have gone in for clark or ponting ...

Posted by COOLANKA on (February 3, 2013, 12:33 GMT)

looking forward to kusal perera he is the tipe of player who could play like jayasuriya, if rajasthan give him to open the inning that i'm sure he'll hammar all the bowlers, rajastan is lucky to have youing crickerter like him....

Posted by AbhishekBanerjeePwC on (February 3, 2013, 12:23 GMT)

Tendulkar & Ponting batting togather. Wow only happens at IPL. Oram too may be an old horse but believe me his experience & Power hitting would really help Mumbai. Mumbai has got a great in paper. Got to see whats in store on the field.

Posted by Rajesh_india_1990 on (February 3, 2013, 12:16 GMT)

Eventhough sachin is the greatest batsman the world has ever seen, ponting is better captain than sachin...appoint him as MI skipper

Posted by Shandorinho on (February 3, 2013, 12:14 GMT)

CSK really needed some Indian seamers, so that's a considerable fail there.

Posted by Andy500265 on (February 3, 2013, 12:13 GMT)

@NBRADEE: You're thinking of Kane Williamson. Richardson is a quick bowler from South Australia.

Posted by SyedAreYouDumb on (February 3, 2013, 12:07 GMT)

wow these franchises wasting money on average players... Senayake and Maxwell for those prices? LOL, they will regret it!!

Posted by TNAmarkFromIndia on (February 3, 2013, 12:04 GMT)

Some good buys for the Pune Warriors. Nayar was on a lot of teams' wishlists after his showing in the domestic season. Kane Richardson has the best yorker in the business today. Mendis can be a handful in this format. Clarke though... he is not made for this format. Also if they're picking him for his captaincy, that would mean one spot from the four international players gets taken away.

Posted by InsideHedge on (February 3, 2013, 11:58 GMT)

So Clint McKay who was already on Mumbai Indians' books is released and picked up for only $100K, meanwhile MI then go out and pay a whopping $1m for Maxwell. Go figure!!

MI may be the richest franchise but they've consistently shown to be very poor at squad selection. They still don't understand that you can only pick 4 overseas players so it's crucial to have a strong Indian contingent. Their obsession with Pollard also hurts them in the long run, he should have been released - his 4 overs go for plenty and they force him to bat way down the order making him ineffective.

Posted by NBRADEE on (February 3, 2013, 11:56 GMT)

Is Kane Richardson not from New Zealand???

Posted by ravat_sehab on (February 3, 2013, 11:46 GMT)

KKR no need to Senanayake,

Posted by Sinhaya on (February 3, 2013, 11:41 GMT)

Oh my goodness! IPL fellows know the talented Lankans and that is why Sachithra Senanayake is chosen. I am sure an IPL guy saw him play 2 games in the BBL. Our useless incompetent cricket board just cant figure identify our talents. No wonder NZ utilized Vaas when they came here in Nov 2012, but we did not bother. What a joke.

Posted by shadi11234 on (February 3, 2013, 11:31 GMT)

maxwell , poor selection, today he hammered by WI

Posted by fasih123 on (February 3, 2013, 11:26 GMT)

too many australians.there were also post-auction buys?then why not Matt Prior?Maxwell is a gamble

Posted by   on (February 3, 2013, 11:22 GMT)

Who is advising these ipl blocks they sure know how to waste money on average players then ignore some pretty talented ones!
