The Delhi Daredevils have signed Karnataka's wicketkeeper-batsman CM Gautam on a one-year contract for the sixth edition of the IPL, which is to commence April 3.

Gautam had previously played four seasons for Royal Challengers Bangalore before being released last November.

He recently enjoyed a successful Ranji Trophy season, scoring two double-hundreds and a century, to finish off the tournament as the third highest run-getter with 943 runs at an average of 117.87. He has scored 2528 runs in 40 matches at first-class level, at an average of 51.59.

Daredevils have the services of two other wicketkeepers in Naman Ojha - who has played most often for them - and Puneet Bisht.

Gautham and Naman Ojha both should be used as openers because Delhi lack good lower order batsmen

The Daredevils are making all the right moves this off-season. They bolstered their spin department by getting Botha and Mendis. They improved their seam bowling by signing up Sid Kaul and trading for Nehra. They further strengthened their amazing batting by getting couple of good domestic talents in Kedar Jadhav and Gautam.

IF he is a threat to MSD!! then he will be ignored for India selections for the next 5 years... thats Dhoni style, he want guys like Parthiv, Karthik or Saha to be the India wicketkeepers, so that MSD's spot is never under the scanner!

Gautam should be in the mix of wicket keepers instead of always going back to Karthik and Patel or Saha

Wow !!! Good for Gautham. If used thoughtfully, he can be a good T20 player. Good luck Gautham & wish you a good success in IPL.
