I think a lot is being made out of this! It is Pollard's nature to celebrate wildly. When he caught Dhoni at the boundary, when he caught Shaun Marsh etc.

For people who think RRs are innocent - just watch how Watson reacts after dismissing Maxwell. Cowardice - you got that right! Except you need to look at your own cowards first - personal opinion or not!

Dummy4 on May 16, 2013, 11:39 GMT

There is a difference between behavior of Pollard and that of Shane Watson. While bantering - when both the players are playing on the field - is one thing, sending out batsman when he has been ruled out is totally different cup of tea. Rahul Dravid rightly termed the action of Pollard as cowardice.

As for Rohit Sharma, he has been a prince for very long. Yes, as everyone knows he has the talent, but when would he start playing Tests on a regular basis ? Sorry to say such a thing about the talented Rohit - he is not a regular even for ODIs ! I am worried about Rohit Sharma because I want him to realize the potential within himself and certainly not end up being another Yuvraj. Certainly Yuvraj would never be remembered and called as a "Great" just as Sachin, Dravid or even Saurav / Laxman.

Though I am a Royals fan, but then I am a bigger fan of the Team India and would be happiest if Rohit Sharma is recalled years later as a "Great" due to his Test Performance.

Dummy4 on May 16, 2013, 11:07 GMT

Just as how Dravid said that sending off batsman in such a manner is cowardliness is his personal opinion, whatever rohit sharma said is his personal opinion. According to him, this is aggressive cricket. There is no reason why he should receive criticisms like this. I also don't understand why his batting abilities come between this problem. We are talking about behavior and sportsmanship on the field, not anyone's talent. So why do people talk about his batting skills? Also, we are talking about IPL and it is recognized by ICC. It is completely not fair to compare this to his international career. For all your information, sachin the great player took 70+ matches to score his first century and could we have seen a better player than him? Rohit sharma needs time. Anyways it is not fair to say that he has never contributed to the success of indian cricket. Whether IPL should be used as a basis for selection is up to the cricket boards and selectors of each cricket team.

MI dont know what aggressive cricket means !!! (to an extent RCB too). Playing cricket aggressively means - aggressive in bowling and batting. Not showing aggression over another players or in attitude.

Arul on May 16, 2013, 11:03 GMT

Rohit Sharma is back to form, what a talent. I've heard this story in all IPL seasons. Sadly, neither preceding nor following the IPL.

Naresh on May 16, 2013, 10:16 GMT

I agree that Rohit is not that good a captain, but don't berate his batting abilities. IPL is an international tournament otherwise we would not see it on CRICINFO and it is accepted by ICC. Pollard's brillant catch in an earlier IPL match has probably got to his head. There is no need for some of these Oz and WI players to show unprofessional ism on the field of play. As for Rohit I think one good test batting inning would launch his test career - just be patient.

Dummy4 on May 16, 2013, 9:15 GMT

Dint know aggressive cricket means talking to the guy in Pavilion. Rohit should write a dictionary of such new definitions!

Naresh on May 16, 2013, 8:39 GMT

@Coolmask, very well said. Rohit, first play for your country with the same kind of passion and interest which you are showing now in IPL. Yet few people are saying that he is the future captain of India. LOL. IPL is not equal to Internationals et al.(period).

MASOOD on May 16, 2013, 8:16 GMT

"We want to play aggressive cricket" - Rohit Sharma is x'tremely lucky cause he become a captain by EXPERIMENT,just like Aaron Finch for PWI. Secondly he has BIG names who are performing well presently in their backyard. Lets see their performance against say CSK in Chennai or against RCB in Bangalore. Or lets see their perfermance in the PLAYOFFS.Rohit Sharma is a club player NOT suitable to represent INDIA in International matches. I would love to see his performance in the upcoming Champions trophy series. The same applies to Sir Jadeja. They simply do not have the calibre to play in the international arena. IPL should NOT be the yardstick for selection. Anyone remember PAUL VALTHATY. I rest my case.

Dummy4 on May 16, 2013, 7:58 GMT

@amrit ravi, god had been kind 2 rohit bcos he knows how good a player he is. dont play selector urself & preach this nonsense. he's not done that bad in international cricket as u make it out to b.by d way have u ever played cricket urself.
