Indian Premier League - 7th match

Sunrisers Hyderabad v Royal Challengers Bangalore

Match tied (Sunrisers Hyderabad won the one-over eliminator)

The players are out in the middle.. Dilshan and Gayle are striding towards the centre. They have started the countdown.. The rocket is about to take off...Steyn has the ball, two slips in place.

Racha Srikanth: "The probability of your comment to be posted on Cricinfo is less than that of a spectator at a stadium to be shown on TV!...But I still stick to Cricinfo and stay away from TV as this helps me do my work simultaneously." --- They are two mutually independent events Srikanth, how can you compare them. By the way, Baba Sehgal is here... Oh, I love this guy, takes me back to the 90s when he was rocking the country with Thanda Thanda Paani..

sridhar rav: "I think Steyn should not open bowling... off-late Gayle is usually calm in first two/three overs...bring Steyn as first change. That will also surprise RCB."

Rahul: "Looks like a very interesting game. Everyone talks about gayle-steyn but what about murali-sanga??? They will also have a good battle."

Umar: "Isn't the second match time is a little bit late?? Every night it ends almost at 12..Its really getting tough to attend office at 8am next day after watching some "nervy" match! Shouldn't IPL committee consider this thing??"

Hasitha Alexander: "@Umar - You are lucky to sleep at 12 mid night. Here we in Singapore go to sleep 2.30AM after the 2nd match and still go to the office at 8.00A.M."

Anand: "You both are lucky , its ends at 3:30 am in here Japan/South Korea., and we still have to go to office in the morning .... since IPL began , I didn't sleep well"

pranav : "@Hasitha Alexander You are also lucky to sleep at 2.30 Here in Sydney in nail-biters finishes like yesterday go to sleep at 4.30 am to Office at 9.00 am" --- Anyone from New Zealand now? Fiji maybe?

Toss: Bangalore have won the toss and they are batting first. Chris Gayle is fit to play. Moises Henriques also comes in to replace Dan Christian.

Piyush: "Only Steyn can stop Gayle and only Gayle can take on Steyn, so included both in Fantasy team.. Hope it turns a good hedge.."

saugat: "Most of the guys must have included both Gayle and Steyn in their fantasy team. So when Gayle hits a boundary off Steyn and if Steyn takes the wicket of Gayle, its always the win-win scenario?"

Prasun: "@Saugat: Nah!! Gayle must smack everyone around except Steyn and Steyn must roll over everyone except gayle. That's a win-win situation mate."

PV Krishna: "Changing Uniforms really worked for Hyd IPL team... they chaged in 2009 nd they won the season. Hope they will do it again this time... Go Risers!!!"

Tiaan: "Can't wait for AB to join RCB. Wish he was there already to witness Dale vs. AB. Anyone remember last season's face-off?"

Papa Demon: "It is reduculous when Captains can not remember the team changes... So much of focus on team..! Hopefully Sanga remembers his bowlers an batters :)"

There's a match to keep track of - commentary, highlights, key stats, outrageous quotes, fours, wickets, sixes... Now you can do all that, and discuss the game as it happens with your friends on social media and other ESPNcricinfo readers. Presenting the ESPNcricinfo Match Companion - our revolutionary new social scorecard is the best thing in cricket since sliced bread was first served at Lord's during a tea break.

Hmm, sliced bread..If there was one giant leap in food-processing it was this. Apparently, it happened in a food-lab in a small town called Chipping Campden - only 17 miles from the birthplace of Shakespeare...Anyway, we are still 45 minutes away from the big game - Steyn v Gayle - and since I am dreaming of break, there is just enough time grab a sandwich..

Chris in Taunton: "Didn't have sliced bread in Shakespeare's days, did they?" --- You are right, no sliced bread in Shakespeare's times, but there must be something in the air in that region that inspired such creativity..

Google disagrees with me - it says sliced bread came into being in 1928 in Davenport, Iowa, when a man called Otto Frederick Rohwedder invented the stylishly named machine called Rohwedder Bread Slicer.

Still some time to go before Bangalore and Hyderabad face-off. In the meantime, here's some stuff to keep you engaged: T20 Fantasy teams. There are daily prizes to be won, so get selecting soon.

If managing a playing XI is not your cup of tea, that's alright - there's still plenty to win on ESPNcricinfo. Guess the winners of each match, and you could be in line for prizes worth INR 3 lacs.

Perera to Henriques, no run, bowls a low full toss wide outside off, the batsman tries to guide it fine on the off side, but misses

17.2

Perera to Henriques, no run, beautiful slower delivery on a length, the batsman gets completely beaten in his cut shot, it just misses the off stump too

17.3

Perera to Henriques, no run, bowls a beamer at full pace, the batsman misses, and the umpire misses it too.. That was clearly over waist high!!

17.4

Perera to Henriques, FOUR, this time it is a slower delivery, the batsman waits and drags it over midwicket in the gap

17.5

Perera to Henriques, 1 run, length delivery on the pads, slower again, it is helped to the fielder at short fine leg

Prashant: "@ vibhash Means ACP Will Order Daya to break the stumps? "

17.6

Perera to Arun Karthik, 1 wide, quick length delivery down the leg side, the batsman takes a swing nonetheless, but misses. It is down the leg side

17.6

Perera to Arun Karthik, OUT, the extra delivery earns him a wicket! Another catch at mid-off as the batsman tries to drive it over mid-off, he doesn't get the elevation and hits it flat, the fielder moves a step to his right and takes a good smart catch

Hugh: "The IPL is full of second rate cricketers, especially from Australian (poor bowlers and batsmen) and India (lame fielding with the odd exception). Why isn't there an Allstars team that sets the standard?"

18.1

Steyn to Henriques, 1 run, full yorker outside off, the batsman makes room and blocks it towards point for a single

18.2

Steyn to Vinay Kumar, 1 run, he goes deep into the crease and pushes the length delivery in the gap at off

18.3

Steyn to Henriques, 2 runs, bowls a slower delivery and it completely foxes the batsman who was going over extra cover, he gets a big leading edge that goes really really high, the fielder from third-man tries to get under it and drops it ... Another easy catch goes down

18.4

Steyn to Henriques, 2 runs, he bowls it short, slightly slower, the batsman flat-bats it to deep midwicket where the fielder makes a good sliding save

18.5

Steyn to Henriques, 1 run, full delivery on the pads, the batsman charges down the wicket and is only able to push it to midwicket

Matthew R Cheek: "In response to Hugh, I think the IPL needs more English players to show them how to play proper cricket. But theres a bias against them from team owners and sponsors who want certain names to play, rather than necessarily the best players"

18.6

Steyn to Vinay Kumar, FOUR, another edge, this one goes over the keeper's head, more agony for Steyn...

Aneesh: "@Hugh: We do have an all star tournament. We call that World Cup. This is a league tournament."

@Hugh: "@Hugh - Talent in IPL is representation of our times.....Difficult to get first rate cricketers from Aus if the they keep performing at the current level...."

19.1

Sharma to Henriques, OUT, slower delivery outside off, it's fuller in length and the batsman goes for a golf-swing, he had everything in his favour, but not the pace.. He ends up smacking it high towards midwicket where Cameron White runs backwards and completes the catch

MC Henriques c White b Sharma 44 (54m 40b 5x4 0x6) SR: 110.00

19.2

Sharma to Vinay Kumar, 2 runs, full delivery outside off, it's driven in the air to wide long-on

Max Weber: "Matthew Cheek, the bias isn't the team management, it's the fault of the county teams actively barring their players from participating in the most cases. And I don't know why Englishmen are complaining, look at what T20 is doing to the Australian national team..."

19.3

Sharma to Vinay Kumar, OUT, a low full-toss outside off, the batsman wanted to crack it over extra cover, but gets a toe-end to that lobs it tamely to Sanga at extra cover

R Vinay Kumar c Sangakkara b Sharma 7 (9m 4b 1x4 0x6) SR: 175.00

don: "@Matthew I don't think the lack of english players is because of bias from franchises rather due to the ecb and county teams not allowing their players to play in the ipl due to the county championships."

19.4

Sharma to Kartik, 1 run, he bowls it short at the new man, the batsman tries to hook it but gets hit on the gloves, takes the single anyway

19.5

Sharma to Unadkat, 1 run, length delivery outside off, the batsman pushes it straight to Sanga at cover and they take off for a single

19.6

Sharma to Kartik, 1 run, short of length delivery outside off, slightly slower as well, the batsman can only hit it as far as midwicket, that keeps them to a single

Another excellent bowling performance from Sunrisers. Are these the same guys from the last season? Apparently that's what a chance in uniform can do for some. But they started really well and got rid of the danger man with their wild card as Vihari took him out off his first ball..Then other bowlers kept all escape routes tightly closed and snookered the batsman completely. Take out Kohli's and Henriques' contribution and there is nothing in that batting card.. Now comes the tough part. Can the Sunrisers batsman do it?

Vish: "@Mathew: I think lack of English players in IPL has more to do with English than anyone else. Is it a co-incidence that English players actually playing in IPL are likes of KP [born in SA], Eoin Morgan [Irish import], Mascarenhas [born in Australia]?"

Tharanga: "@Vish - Message from the Authority for Fact Correctnes - Masceranhas was born to Sri Lankan parents and grew up in Australia. But he was born in Chiswick, Middlesex."

Srini: "@matthew - if at all there has been any bias it has been against the pak players who have not been considered for selection. Imagine saeed Ajmal and Umar gul playing. Would have made the bat vs ball contest more even."

Padmanabhan: "Dale Steyn - bowls well when everyone is letting you down and lets you down when there is support. I wonder how good SRH would be if it's one good day for all of them!"
