Indian Premier League, 10th match: Mumbai Indians v Delhi Daredevils at Mumbai, Apr 9, 2013
Mumbai Indians won by 44 runs
9 April 2013 - night match (20-over match)

Almost time for the start of play. The Mumbai openers are walking out, you know who they are. Irfan Pathan gets ready to bowl. A slip in place

Ninad: "@Sundar: How arrogant can you be ? What do you mean "our cricket" ? It's a sport played and enjoyed by many countries. We are hosting the tournament but people form various countries are playing as well as watching the sport. Get over your nationalist agenda for once. ECB has the right to request a change in schedule as anybody else. BCCI should decide what's best for everybody not just for itself."

Nikhil: "@ Sundar - Read the article. I think I read it differently. IPL has had such an influence that other countries are trying to figure out a way to keep their domestic T20 alive, else face a backlash from their players. This seems to be more of an appeal as opposed to a stamp of authority"

Akshay: "Glen Maxwell would be most happy with the team selection. He doesn't have to sweat it out and also has the money in his pocket now... How i wish i were him...."

Sundar: "While we are waiting for toss and the game to start, a little sidelight. Interesting reading this article on cricinfo about IPL :- http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/current/story/628949.html. I find it amazing that in spie of IPL being part of Indian domestic cricket, David Collier has asked for it to be rescheduled as per ECB's convenience. Now we have to run our cricket also as per their whims and fancies? Funny they think they have a divine right to do that and not make any adjustments at their end to their schedules, just because they don't want to pay extra to their players. I don't think Eng has come out of their raj era mentality as yet." It's a request, not a demand. We'll see what pans out.

The playing XIs are being updated, should be up on the scorecard in just a bit.

James: "So, Maxwell continues warming the bench. Must do an excellent job at it, given how much was paid for him."

Manasvi: "For the DD to do better, at some point, they must make some crucial changes. Jadhav needs to be given a chance - he is one of the best List A players in the country and his current T20 domestic form has been very good as well. Chand's game is better suited for the longer versions of the game. And Gautaum deserves a chance ahead of Ojha."

Dhairyesh Kanani: "Really exciting from Mumbai's point of view that Rishi Dhawan gets a game.. Ponting doing the right thing... Giving players chances...Mitch and Malinga in tandem... Really Awesome!.. MI all the way!"

We're just a couple of minutes from the toss. Toss: Mumbai have won the toss and chosen to bat. Malinga will play for Mumbai. They've also brought in Rishi Dhawan. For Daredevils, Morne Morkel is back. He replaces Andre Russell. They have brought in Jeevan Mendis for Johan Botha. There's no Virender Sehwag yet. Kedar Jadhav comes in for Naman Ojha.

Anurag Acharya: "It'll be a difficult team selection for Mumbai. Malinga needs to come in, but Johnson has done well in the last matches. The best choice would be to play five bowlers by keeping Smith out but will they risk it, given their batting performances?"

Time is running out for the Delhi Daredevils after two defeats in two games. Can they get on the points table against Mumbai Indians tonight? Here's our preview to the game.

Manasvi: "Setting the Ponting issue aside, I've always felt that MI have too many bowling options at the cost of their batting. Dhawan was a good selection, but he should have come in place of a bowler. That would have allowed MI to play an additional batsman such as Yadav or someone else. 18.1

Pathan to Sharma, 1 run, full outside off, digs it towards point for a single

18.2

Pathan to Rayudu, FOUR, slower full toss and though he doesn't middle it, he has enough on it to clear midwicket for a boundary

18.3

Pathan to Rayudu, SIX, lovely strike, through the line, pitched up outside off and he smacks that over long-off for a maximum

18.4

18.5

18.6

Pathan to Rayudu, 1 run, mistimes this but keeps the strike for the final over, chips that towards long-off, gets to Warner on the bounce

22 off that over, 200 well within reach here, Rayudu has compensated for the early loss of Pollard here

End of over 19 (22 runs) Mumbai Indians 189/4 (RR: 9.94)

    • AT Rayudu 24 (7b 2x4 2x6)
    • RG Sharma 55 (46b 4x4 2x6)
    • IK Pathan 4-1-37-1
    • A Nehra 3-0-29-1
19.1

Nehra to Rayudu, OUT, caught and bowled, short and Rayudu went for the pull, got a top edge and Nehra got under it to take it easily

AT Rayudu c & b Nehra 24 (7m 8b 2x4 2x6) SR: 300.00

A nice cameo from Rayudu, he's ruined Irfan's figures

19.2

Nehra to Sharma, SIX, the flow of boundaries doesn't abate, Rohit moves back to Nehra, that's in the slot outside off and he smashes that over extra cover

19.3

Nehra to Sharma, SIX, Mumbai bring up their 200, short ball and it's a slower one, Rohit sees that early and dispatches that over the deep square leg boundary, 200 for the first time this IPL

19.4

Nehra to Sharma, 1 run, full outside off, runs that down to third man for a single

Sam Roy: "I know I make no sense and probably what I am going to say is not going to be published but I think Rayudu has a better defensive technique than Rohit Sharma especially against the swinging ball. Rayudu plays it close to his body and Rohit plays it away from his body. Of course Rohit is a far more attractive stroke player but then we should remember that Yuvraj is probably the most attractive stroke player ever in Indian Cricket who can't play good seam bowling, good swing bowling or good spin bowling. One needs to survive against good bowling to be a successful test batsman."

19.5

Nehra to Harbhajan Singh, 1 run, yorker length on middle, dug out into the off side for a single

19.6

Nehra to Sharma, SIX, ends the innings on a high with another six, length, length, length from Nehra and that's picked up with ease over deep square leg

From 1 for 2, Mumbai have reached 209. Karthik set it up, and Rohit continued what his partner had started. Pollard and Rayudu did their bit, and so did the Delhi bowlers by doling out freebies at the death. Yes, it's a flat track but Delhi have their task cut out. Chasing 210 against Malinga and co. is a huge task, even on the flattest of pitches. Join us in a short while for the chase.

End of over 20 (20 runs) Mumbai Indians 209/5

    • RG Sharma 74 (50b 4x4 5x6)
    • Harbhajan Singh 1 (1b)
    • A Nehra 4-0-49-2
    • IK Pathan 4-1-37-1
