Indian Premier League - 11th match

Kings XI Punjab v Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings won by 10 wickets (with 16 balls remaining)

It's game time. Adam Gilchrist is opening the innings with Mandeep Singh. Gilchrist played three shots in the last match that brought back so many memories. Can he play a more substantial innings today?

Dirk Nannes has the new ball, left-arm fast from over the wicket. The clock is counting down, the crowd is chanting ...

7.45 pm The pitches in the IPL have been something else so far. They've made for a largely bowlers' tournament. Eden Gardens has turned, Jaipur was quick, how will Mohali play today? They don't have pitch reports during this IPL so we'll have to wait and see.

Neil Mulligan: "@Oliver. Dhoni isn't fit to lace Gilly's gloves. The man defined the wicketkeeper batsman role. Anything else is a poor imitation."

Kamran: "I'm sure KXIP has a lot more supporters than CSK. Other than Chennai and Punjab's local supporters (among which also, Punjab's population should be higher), all neutrals will be supporting KXIP because who doesn't like an underdog to win? And add to that all IPL watching Pakistanis who would be supporting KXIP, thanks to Azhar Mahmood."

Toss, 7.30 pm Dhoni has won the toss and the Super Kings will bowl. They have made one change, bringing in South African allrounder Chris Morris for Australian bowler Ben Laughlin. Kings XI are unchanged from the team that thumped Pune Warriors away from home.

"Good evening George! I don't know what you are expecting from this match (apart from a large paycheck), but I'm hoping to see some fireworks off Gilly's bat. Also keen to see how Morris plays. I think he will come straight in the XI." Good evening to you too, Anurag. Large paycheck?

Phil: "Welcome back George! Im predicting a huge Punjab win today. So much so im loading my fantasy team with KXIP players. Im also going out there on an RR vs KXIP in the semis. Also got a bet on KXIP today. GO GO!!!"

Kalyan: "Hoping for Azhar Mahmood to come good this match! He has the experience and everything. Did I say I have him in my Fantasy team ?"

Oliver Jones: "Gilchrist v Dhoni - the 2 keepers who have helped develop the wicketkeeper-batsmen role the most. Gilchrist started it, then Dhoni made the standards even higher."

Murali: "Can Chris Morris be CSK's Chuck Norris? They already have a Rajni in Sir Jaddu!"

7.10 pm Good evening and welcome to ESPNricinfo's ball-by-ball coverage of the 11th game of this IPL, between Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab in Mohali. It's Kings XI's first home game of the season.

Chris Morris has joined the Super Kings squad. Remember him? Base price $20,000, sold for more than $600,000. He's only been in India a couple of days and you can read about his experience so far in his diary.

We have a heavyweight Huddle - our daily Google Hangout show during the IPL - today. Not literally, though. Today's show will have Jarrod Kimber, Russel Arnold, Mark Butcher and ESPNcricinfo editor Sambit Bal making his Huddle debut. It begins at 7.30 pm.

It's my first commentary gig this IPL season. I'm hoping for a tense last-over finish. Here's how the teams' stand in the points table after the first week of the tournament.

*** Our coverage for this match will begin a few minutes before the toss. Meanwhile, do check out our match preview. Albie Morkel and Chris Morris have joined the Chennai squad. Will one or both of them get to play, and help the Super Kings register their first win? On a lighter note, there's been an epidemic of 'Sir Jadeja' tweets doing the rounds from the Chennai Super Kings' ranks. Everyone seems to be having a laugh at Jaddu's expense.

The captains of the two sides are both past masters of the T20 format. Will Dhoni and Gilchrist turn it on today? Select them in your Fantasy side and ensure you have all bases covered. There are daily prizes on offer, in addition to the big prizes for the whole season. We also have a result prediction game set up on our Facebook page, if that's the sort of thing that interests you.

Bravo to Chawla, no run, Chawla tries to steer the ball towards third man but is beaten by the extra bounce from a good length

17.5

Bravo to Chawla, OUT, caught by Vijay running to his right at long off! Bravo fooled Chawla with the slower offcutter and the batsman spooned his lofted shot high over extra cover. Vijay covered a lot of ground and judged the catch well

PP Chawla c Vijay b Bravo 4 (6m 5b 1x4 0x6) SR: 80.00

Praveen Kumar is the new batsman.

AT: "Irrelevant to this game but is Bravo going to play Test cricket again? Gayle returned, thought Bravo would follow. Would be a shame if he didn't."

17.6

Bravo to Harris, no run, Bravo bowls another slower one and hits the outside edge, the ball falls well short of the keeper

End of over 18 (2 runs) Kings XI Punjab 133/8 (RR: 7.38)
RJ Harris    0* (1b)      DJ Bravo    4-0-27-3
P Kumar    0* (0b)      CH Morris    3-0-24-1

Karthik: "Wait did someone say Bravo has lost his bowling skills?"

18.2

RJ Harris c Bravo b Morris 0 (5m 2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Kings XI in danger of leaving several balls unused, which is criminal in a T20 game. Awana is the last man.

19.1

Nannes to Kumar, 1 run, Praveen moves towards the off side and then cuts a short of a length ball to point

Vishnu: "Gilchrist, Hussey & Azhar Mahmood. There ends the batting strength of KXIP. This has been there problem always. They have always lacked a good Indian batsman. They had Yuvraj in the first two seasons and it gave them a good result in the first season by entering the semis. But after that, it has been always some tiny explosions from Valthaty, Vohra etc etc. They need to have a good Indian International batsman in their side."

19.2

Nannes to Awana, no run, Awana backs away and has a slog as the short of a length ball from over the wicket slants across him, he makes no contact

19.3

Nannes to Awana, no run, similar ball, similar shot, and similar result. Awana backed away and swished outside off stump

19.4

Nannes to Awana, no run, short of a length, pitching in line with the stumps and angling across. Awana backs away again and swings, but misses for the third time

19.5

Nannes to Awana, OUT, that's the end of the innings. Awana missed the swing for the fourth time and this time Praveen tried to run a bye to Dhoni, who was keeping without his right glove so that he could throw quickly and accurately. He hit the stumps direct, running out Praveen Kumar

P Kumar run out 3 (9m 5b 0x4 0x6) SR: 60.00

9.30 pm Kings XI have made only 138, they looked set for more when Hussey and Gurkeerat were batting but they had no depth in their line-up to take advantage of the platform during the end overs. The total is below par. I'll be back in ten minutes, after a quick bite to eat.

Siddharth Dev: "Wow never seen a keeper not wear a glove facing an express pace bowler. Dhoni obviously did it so that he can run a batsman out and he actually managed to. That requires serious skill though considering how painful the impact of the ball can be flying into your gloveless hand"
