Indian Premier League, 20th match: Kings XI Punjab v Kolkata Knight Riders at Mohali, Apr 16, 2013
Kings XI Punjab won by 4 runs
16 April 2013 - day/night match (20-over match)

Balaji to start off, a slip in place. The stadium seems about half full at this point. Gilchrist on strike.

The players are making their way out. We'll be reviewing each week of the IPL with Harsha Bhogle. Here he is, looking back at the first two weeks of the IPL on the IPL Weekly with Harsha. The RP no-ball features here as well, it's everywhere.

Ross Lawson: "For as good as Hussey and Miller are, I feel their games are too similar. KXIP need a solid, rather than spectacular player in the middle order."

Bengani: "I think it's a good move by Gambhir to play Senanayake and not switch him for Lee, despite a pacy pitch. Majority of KXIP batsmen might find it difficult to get going against the two mystery spinners ! Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo."

Chaitanya: "Senanayake again? Can't we keep him a mystery for spinning tracks? Ideally, Brett Lee should have been played on Mohali's pitch instead of an extra spinner."

Waz: "They could have played Pomersbach instead of miller. He was good in BBL. he can bowl too."

Dr Sudhir Kumar: "MS Gony, Iqbal Abdullah, Valthaty, Saurabh Tiwari and the list goes on..Each season has its own wonder player who fades away in subsequent seasons. Such is the nature of this tournament"

Madhav: "Clearly, Punjab's worry has been the batting. Harris is not doing much anyway. They should include David Miller in their XI or Pomersbach, maybe."

Toss: KKR have won the toss and decided to bowl. Gambhir wants his two spinners to play an important role, there's no Brett Lee again. Ryan Harris isn't playing, David Miller comes in for him. There's no Satish, Manpreet Gony comes in for him. KKR are missing Laxmi Shukla due to injury; he's been replaced by Debabrata Das.

RAJ: "Anybody knows about Paul Valthaty, Remembering ?.. Some amazing batting diplayed by him in last IPL; Though I am supporter of KKR, missing him in action .." It was two years ago.

Manny Dorison: "My money is on the Double Dees, Gambhir finishing it in the 18th over and the Poonjab Boys....How much will I win?"

3.15pm The Kings XI Punjab team is in a huddle. We're about 15 minutes from the toss.

One step forward, two steps back for Kings XI Punjab. They began their season with a win for the first time this year, but it's gone pear-shaped since. Our preview to their game against KKR suggests that their problems lie in the batting department.

How they would love to have someone like Chris Gayle in their side. Gayle is the Bradman of T20 cricket. He has 10 T20 tons, which is double what his nearest competitors - David Warner and Brendon McCullum - have. More in today's Ask Steven.

Gayle and Warner will both be in action in the second game today. If you still haven't picked them in your Fantasy XI, do it now. There are daily prizes on offer for the best team of the day. You will have to lock your selection by 4 PM IST, when the KKR v KXIP game begins. Think Punjab can spring a surprise? Think Delhi can pull the rug from under Bangalore's feet? Play our T20 predictor game.

Some more reading while you wait for the toss - an interesting Kamran Akmal interview.

Question: "Do you count how many catches you've dropped?"
Kamran Akmal's answer: "The media does. They love doing it. [Laughs]"

Enjoy the game!

The BBC says that the Iranian State TV has reported 40 deaths so far in the earthquake, but officials fear the toll could be in the hundreds. Our thoughts go out to those affected. It's been a sad day. There were blasts in Iraq yesterday, then in Boston and now this.

Kings XI will take this score of 157, especially after the situation they were in. KKR were completely on top at one stage, but Gony chipped in with what could, potentially, be a decisive innings. KKR have a challenging target to scale down now. Join us in a bit for the chase.
