Indian Premier League, 9th match: Royal Challengers Bangalore v Sunrisers Hyderabad at Bangalore, Apr 9, 2013
Royal Challengers Bangalore won by 7 wickets (with 14 balls remaining)
9 April 2013 - day/night match (20-over match)

The players are already here.. Parthiv and Reddy are ready.. RP Singh comes in..

yogi: "Of course winning makes everything look good but somehow the young players in the sunrisers team seem to be more involved and have more belief, credit to tom moody coz sanga was there last year as well so i guess moody is the difference."

Anshul: "@Yogi: Belief comes from winning. I would give more credit to the Sunrisers bowlers for some exceptional bowling in the last couple of matches, than Tom Moody."

Anik: "Nobody talking about Vinaay Kumar..RCB ows a lot to him 1st match win and 2nd match tie all possible because of him.Unsung SuperHero.." --- He is a bit of Captain America in a team of Avengers, isn't it?

As much as I prefer low-scoring matches, this tournament has left me wondering what has changed this season..Is Dale Steyn finally taking the IPL seriously?

J: "Couldn't stop myself from laughing - reading the tweets of CSK cricketers about #God'sGodJadeja" -- Yeah J, looks like they have decided to deflect all the pressure on their team to one man.

vibhash: "Dale Steyn taking IPL seriously? You should be wondering if Amit Mishra is taking bowling seriously? He has been virtually unplayable in two matches." -- Vibhash, Amit Mishra has always been good in the IPL. He is among the all time top wicket-takers in the league and has a hat-trick to his name.. Mishra is an unsung hero of this tournament..Is this the first time you are watching IPL?

Ryan: "I thought Steyn did really well in a poor team last year. His over (and dismissal) to Gayle helped knock out RCB and was superb bowling, he was up there on the stats for the season." -- True Ryan, Steyn has bowled some really mean overs in the past, mainly when presented with a tough opponent. But other times, he has appeared almost uninterested..

Sunrisers have won the toss and they will bat first. ABdV comes in for Dilshan, RP Singh also comes in. Only one change for Sunriers - Samantray comes in for Ankit Sharma.

GK: "This match has pretty much all of my favourite international stars, and a few of my local aussie favs! It doesn't beat Test cricket, but this is what makes IPL so damn exciting!"

Gonzo: "My favourite shot from last year's IPL (even above the hundreds of Gayle sixes) was AB hitting Steyn's full yorker outside off stump for six over cover. Incredible, and in a tense chase too."

PP: "@ Gonzo - Not to forget the way he reverse swept the world's fastest bowler"

Tareq: "Desperately waiting for see AB hammering Dale Styen like in 2012. or its payback time for Styen, love to see both playing against each other"

egalite: "I'm surprised not to see Quinton de Kock in the team. In this form he will walk into any team. Extremely disappointed. They should have included him for Cameron White who is a bit over-rated IMO."

Rohan: "Cam White probably gave himself a lease of life by hitting those two sixes in the Super Over. Tough to hold on to his place with Sammy breathing down his neck."

Gareth: "Truth be told, Sanga's under some pressure here. He had to drop himself last season and with other quality internationals like MacKay, Sammy and de Kock, he's going to have to prove his own spot."

Just finished reading this beautiful piece about Hedley Verity, the English spinner, who led a battalion against the Germans in Sicily, way back in 1943..He never returned and was one of the nine Test cricketers do die in the second World War. Poignant. It's been 70 years since and the complexion of cricket has changed. Who would have thought! Please do read before the show starts..

Anyway, the Sunrisers pulled off a shock win when they prevailed over Chris Gayle in the Super Over. Today is Bangalore's chance to pay them back in kind. Our preview to the game looks ahead to AB de Villiers IPL 2013 debut, in conditions vastly different to those in Hyderabad where the Sunrisers won.

Aakash Chopra tweets: "If there was ever a pitch that would suit the Sunrisers Hyderabad, it's the one in Bangalore. Steyn and Ishant vs Gayle and De Villiers."

Stiaan: "I can not wait to see the Steyn/DeVilliers battle! Go Sunrisers!!"

Kannan: "Sanga did not make big impact with bat in last two go games. but his plan made big impact to wiht those games. i am sure it is going to be same during this match. Kholi can not stop Sanga and SRH"

Sumal: "Am I the only one who feels like Sunrisers will pull off another victory today?" --- As you can probably guess from the above comments Sumal, you are definitely not alone. In fact, the only support I see for RCB in the feedback is from people who have Gayle/Kohli/ABdV in their fantasy teams..

Rahul: "I don't have any fantasy team but I have been supporting RCB since 08 and will continue to do so!! Go RCB!!!!!"

Captain America is here. Vinay Kumar

16.1

Vinay Kumar to Perera, SIX, slower delivery on a length, Perera shows off his awesome power, whacked over cow corner with some ease

Round the wicket he comes now..

16.2

Vinay Kumar to Perera, (no ball) 1 run, caught at deep point but that won't count as it was a high full-toss outside off.. Kohli has a despondent look..

marcus: "has Kohli not done his homework on Moises? Everyone who has seen him bowl in t20's shares the mantle with Dan Christian as bowlers who get smacked for 20 run overs the most consistently at the death. Wobbles the new ball so use him up front or not at all, could be game changing error this."

16.2

17.3

Singh to Perera, no run, a good yorker that hits the pads, the batsman starts running immediately, but is sent back by White as RP is charging towards it too.. he gets back in time

17.4

Singh to Perera, OUT, he loses his off stump! Changes his approach! Perera was playing such good tennis, but this time he walks across and tries to paddle a length delivery fine on the leg side, walks too far across and misses..

NLTC Perera b Singh 40 (38m 24b 1x4 4x6) SR: 166.66

Manraj: "How's commentary feedback load doing compared to all that Aussie interest in the BAN vs SL test series, Devashish? I doubt there is much Aussie comments, relative to back then. But hey it is primetime here down under." --- Test match anyday Manraj.. Too much work here..

Ben: "This is where Kohli needs to learn as captain. Murali Katik was hit for 1 6 and still has an over left, but is thought to be too dangerous to bring him back on yet he is happy to bowl same style medium fast bowlers over after over when the batters are going at 15+ easily. Spin went for 1 maximum off 7 overs!"

18.2

Vinay Kumar to Ashish Reddy, 1 run, length delivery on off stump from round the wicket, he plays a neat chip down the ground to long-off

Pavan: "Pity Vihari...MoM last match and no chance of playing in this match."

19.1

Singh to Ashish Reddy, OUT, oh nice! A yorker that uproots the middle stump is always picturesque. Where is Waqar? He is in the ground too.

19.5

Singh to Samantray, 1 run, another good delivery on off stump, really full, driven to long-off

They have put up a good total here, 161 159(Thanks USP, Mayur, Sathish and everyone).. They looked good for more when Perera and White were smoking it all around the ground, but it still looks good. Back in 10 minutes..Servicing time.

umesh: "RP Singh has good track record in IPL, should groom into National team... could be handful in South Africa"

Nikhil: "Has RP Singh improved? Or am I dreaming? Back to India contention? I hope not, dearly, hope not!"

Prashant: "ACP Pradhyuman," SRH made 161?? Something is Wrong Daya""

Abhishek: "Daya: I think we have to break the door sir !" -- There is always a broken door (Apologies to those who don't know Daya, the legend)
