Good move by Daredevils . KP can lead by example with Karthik as his deputy.

Good to seep kp leading DD i hav they will do good. They hav a good team, batting, bowling and fielding and most importantly a good coach in kristen. Kp should open the innings for me becoz he likes to play his shots and if he gets gng then ipl managments has to get more ball boxes for kp and gale.

Daredevils must be the team to watch out for in this IPL. With Kirsten & KP at the helm this is a team strong in leadership. To compliment those 2, they also have de Kock, who is looking a lot like KP junior,) Duminy and Parnell to add a few more Saffa accents to the dressing room.

Lots of batting firepower with Vijay, Karthik & Taylor. They should be giving the bowlers targets to defend!

Wow, the IPL is really providing the theatrics. What will KP do? Will he show an amazing display of batting and captaincy and make England rethink everything about KP? Or, will we see the side of KP that England has been so fed up with?

KP - my all time fav from the Eng team - well deserved and this time around he will be there for the entire season - excited excited!!!!

Delhi have a good shot this year, playing 11 should be vijay, de kock, pieterson, karthik, taylor/duminy, tiwary/jadhav, coulter nile/neesham/parnell, nadeem, sharma, shami, shukla/kaul. Plenty of options so its just down to who performs well in the early games.

Let's see what happens ? DELHI always had star T 20 players in their side from I P L 1 but they never manage to get success. I don't think that the scenario will change this time. May be KP prove the able captain but according to me, DELHI have no chance to win this I P L.

Manoj tiwari is man to watch out for. If he got half of a chance to what rohit has got. He would have been true match winner. But that's Indian politics.

It's always important to have a leader who can inspire and lead by example and I think that KP has that capability

    1. Best decision by Delhi Daredevils. KP really deserves it after all the insult & terrible treatment he got from Eng when they dumped him. 2. KP is the best & all KP fans including me love him unlike Eng & it's great to see him batting. 3. He's a star batsman, out and out champion. Heartbreaking that Eng didn't value him. But yet I ardently hope that he will be back for Eng some day like Gayle was back for WI. 4. It's better Eng learns to manage star players or in near future they will dump talent like Jos Buttler. 5. & KP is very helpful to other players. Trott told that KP was the first one to help him & Panesar also acknowledges the help KP provided him.

Wow..!!. That's a excellent decision and i very well know that this will be coming..!!. KP is always a captain material and i am pretty much sure that he will steal the show for most number of times, this tends to boost his overall performance..!!. Atleast there are some teams or some individuals who have this thinking capabilities and the respect which he deserves..!!. It's time for him to show what he is capable of, he didn't have the team of his liking in the repository but with him,Ross,DK constituting the middle order there is always that chance of going one step further this time..!!.. So chants of KP.. KP.. KP..KP.. gonna start soon and will be reverberating till the IPL finals..!!.. C'mon u champ..!!.

Being a key player for delhi dare devils petersen can be very effective as a pure batsman, I think Ross Taylor with his current form will be better choice for captaincy.

Pietersen to lead Daredevils in IPL 2014, Karthik named deputy

Kevin Pietersen will captain Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League this season, while Dinesh Karthik has been named vice-captain.

The pair were the most expensive purchases for Daredevils at the IPL auction last month. Pietersen was bought for Rs 9 crores ($1.5 million) in the auction in February, after the franchise used its Right to Match card. Karthik was purchased by Daredevils for Rs 12.5 crores ($2.08 million).

The season will be Pietersen's second stint as captain of an IPL franchise - the England batsman had captained Royal Challengers Bangalore for a brief period in 2009. Pietersen, who transferred to Delhi Daredevils from the defunct Deccan Chargers in 2012, has scored 305 runs in eight matches for the franchise. Overall, Pietersen has 634 runs in 21 IPL games at 42.26.

He missed the last season due to injury was but was seen promoting the franchise during the tournament. Pietersen was one of the marquee players at the auction, after Daredevils decided not to retain any players, and was expected to attract interest in spite of the abrupt end to his international career earlier in February.

In 92 matches across six seasons, Karthik - who was part of the Daredevils' squad for the first three seasons of the IPL before moving to Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians - has scored 1741 runs and was one of the leading run-getters for Mumbai in their title win last year.

Gary Kirsten, who was appointed the Daredevils coach in September last year, said the two players would have a positive impact on the team.

"I am looking forward to working with Kevin Pietersen as the captain of the Delhi Daredevils," Kirsten said. "It will be great to have him with us for the full duration of IPL and I have no doubt that he will have a positive and significant impact. Dinesh Karthik, who has been appointed as vice-captain, will also form part of the leadership team. He has a lot of experience of playing the IPL and he will offer valuable inputs into our game plans and strategies during the tournament."
