Maxwell, Miller orchestrate clinical chase of 205

Punjab 206 for 4 (Maxwell 95, Miller 54*) beat Chennai 205 for 4 (McCullum 67, Smith 66) by six wickets
Scorecard and ball-by-ball details

Huddle - New-look Punjab have the goods

A successful chase of a target in excess of 200 is normally furious, full of power and towering shots. Glenn Maxwell and David Miller did it differently for Punjab. They hit only five sixes - three of those after the 15th over, by which time Punjab were firm favourites - and turned the game during a 115-run stand that was driven by Maxwell's surgical placement and Miller's calm supporting act. Chennai were overtaken with seven balls to spare.

There were only four notable performers in the game and all of them were overseas players. Maxwell and Miller's clinical middle-order partnership came after Chennai's new openers batted as though powered by rocket-fuel. Brendon McCullum and Dwayne Smith also scored half-centuries and ransacked 123 in 12.4 overs, but their fierce partnership was not the best batting effort on a scorching Abu Dhabi afternoon.

Chasing 205, Punjab had slipped to 52 for 3 in 5.1 overs. Three Indian batsmen had been dismissed - Virender Sehwag, Cheteshwar Pujara and Akshar Patel - and the game hinged on how Maxwell, Miller and George Bailey would fare. Not one to waste time, Maxwell countered R Ashwin's wide-outside-leg line from round the wicket by reverse-swatting his first ball to the point boundary. That set the tone for an innings filled not only by such unorthodoxy - there were several more reverse-sweeps and pulls - but also by textbook drives and perfectly-timed pushes between mid-off and cover.

Maxwell's placement was largely impeccable. Most of his airborne shots were into gaps in the outfield, but two were not and Chennai failed to catch them. On 37, Maxwell reverse-swept Ravindra Jadeja but the top edge was fluffed by Ashish Nehra at short third man, and on 77 the substitute Samuel Badree put down a chance at deep square leg. Miller also had a let-off - on 17, two balls after Maxwell's first reprieve - but it was a much tougher chance that Faf du Plesiss put down at short cover.

Around the time Maxwell passed fifty off his 25th delivery, Miller had scored only a run-a-ball 21. He wasn't struggling, however. He was playing an excellent second fiddle, turning the strike over and ensuring the pressure didn't mount though the asking-rate was approaching two a ball.

Punjab needed 113 off 60 balls and took 23 runs off the next two overs. The 13th over from spinner Pawan Negi was the turning point, when Maxwell found the leg-side boundary three times and the cover boundary once to take 22 runs off it. The equation had been hacked to 68 off 42 balls, and Chennai suffered a crippling blow in the next over when Dwayne Bravo dived to try and catch a Maxwell reverse-pull - in vain - and went off the field to nurse an injured right shoulder. MS Dhoni had lost a key death bowler. After Maxwell was bowled for 95, Miller stepped up, carting Ravindra Jadeja for two consecutive sixes in the 17th over to ensure Punjab did not trip close to victory.

While Chennai were left to rue their poor catching and bowling, they were buoyed by how seamlessly their new openers settled in. In seasons past, the Chennai method has been for the openers to bat within themselves in the first half of the innings, setting up a platform for the power-hitters to launch from. But McCullum and Smith are the power-hitters.

Smith played the supporting role - hitting his first six off his 24th delivery in the 10th over - as McCullum ran riot before and after Bailey dropped him on 22. McCullum did not discriminate, treating the less-known Parvinder Awana and the reputed Mitchell Johnson with the same aggression. The ball disappeared into the stands between deep square leg and long-on frequently as Chennai brought up their best Powerplay score in seven seasons - 70 for 0 in six overs.

McCullum got to 50 off 30 balls, Chennai reached 100 off 9.3 overs and Smith brought up his half-century off 37 deliveries. McCullum did slow down after his half-century, scoring only 14 off his next 15 balls before his dismissal, and Chennai lost a bit of momentum during this period. Dhoni remedied that soon enough, and when he walked off for 26 off 11 balls, Chennai were favourites. But nobody told Maxwell and Miller.

@wapuser sorry to dissappoint u - this is an Indian domestic competition much alike the ones that are played in England, South Africa, Carribean and Australia - too bad tht the country u support has not been able to succeed in conducting one! But that does not mean u can mock a very successful league!

FYI Manish Pandey is holding the Orange Cap at the moment & he is an Indian - not an overseas player much diff from ur version of only overseas batsmen making a mark!!! Its very clear tht u are not watching IPL as Virat, Yuvi, Karthik, Parthiv Patel, Rahane, all made half centuries as well.... plz dont mock without any valid facts!

Dhoni is obsessed with batting picking 7 to 8 batsmen in the XI. All the 4 foreign players picked in the XI were batsmen and Du Plessi didn't have chance to bat. None of the bowlers chosen made any impression except Ashwin to some extent. Badree may be a better choice than Negi.

Posted by baranasai on (April 19, 2014, 10:13 GMT)

CSK bowling looks below par. Even Jadeja and Ashwin have gone for runs-they could not get wickets like sunil Naraine. regarding Ashish Nehra and Negi it looks like there is a big vaccum in the bowling department. Ashish is uite unprdictale and let out Indian team o very vital occasions.

Unlss CSK strenghten the bowling department it looks like they are out of the competition aleady. The batsmen are ok now but who knows how will they perform in the crux moments. They should give a chance to Baba Aparajith Nehra looks like a bad news to CSK

CSK missing the services of cricket enthusiast gurunath meiyappan.

Punjab won only their first match. We canont judge any team with first match. More than half tournament remain.CSK only losted their first match not whole touranment.Punjab batted well CSK have to consider on their bowling.Injured bravo is also concern for CSK.CSK will fight back and lift the cup third time.

Posted by   on (April 19, 2014, 9:06 GMT)

CSK needs to get Ben in... They need to come up as a better bowling unit than they were in the first game. Also, Dhoni mentioned that Bravo wasn't fit for Bowling in this match even before the shoulder injury... Now they need a suitable replacement for the same.

Posted by   on (April 19, 2014, 8:37 GMT)

CSK known for it's slow start! Hope, this time also they reach final and lift the cup! :D Don't under estimate CSK!!! True IPL followers will not do the mistake! :P

CSK never had a good bowling attack. It's the same this year as well. Can't blame the batsmen for this loss. Even if they had scored 220 , Punjab would have won as they still had an over left with Bailey,Miller, Johnson and Dhawan still to bat.

Posted by moscowman on (April 19, 2014, 8:03 GMT)

CSK bowling lacks punch. There are no wicket getting bowlers. Initial stages of IPL they had Bollinger. Then Albie Morkel. They should have bid and got Mitchell Johnson. Nehra is a liability in the field. and his fielding lapse in dropping the catch was DEFINITELY the cause of CSK losing the match. You can't muff up chances and hope to mwin. Hope they have better bowlers in their next match. Buck up CSK. I am your fan and will be always.

Posted by black_bird on (April 19, 2014, 8:01 GMT)

Wait people. CSK will win the world cup in this season.Don't judge them by one match failure.

Excellent performance from Maxi and Miller they compliment each other so well .......Punjab is the team to watch out for..

I Think this time chennai is not going to qualify for playoffs... They dont have bowling fire power and jadeja is not doing that good....

Sehwag was looking great yesterday one rash shot although made him walk back but expecting something big from Sehwag this season go VIRU go.....

Posted by wapuser on (April 19, 2014, 7:36 GMT)

Hope Punjab will come up with better show this year . Too early to predict winner but Punjab will more forward from 5th position.

Kings must look @ changing their bowling plans in pp overs.Be better of share new ball betw. Mitch and spinners,i.e go for a 2-6 allocation betw. Mitch, spin resp. in 1st 6 overs.Other quicks lack quality to bowl in pp-unless conds.,pitch help swing/seam.

CSK team does not appear on what it should be?? The team flourished because of a unique mix of overseas and local and non-local talents.. Now there is only one local lad (Ashwin) in the team.. Even Punjab has a native chennai guy (Balaji) in their team.. So being a Chennai guy, I couldn't care less on who won the game, because both appeared the same to me .. can't deny an outsider'ish feeling with this CSK team.. the team has lost its nativity.. As a fact, CSK won the IPL only when it was powered by plenty of local players.. Time for Dhoni, Fleming and team management to re-think about the team composition..

Posted by Antony_Lucas on (April 19, 2014, 6:10 GMT)

Du Plessis will feel shortchanged. McCullum and Smith cannot be dropped after their respective performances and given the need for an increase in the pace bowling arsenal, there is unlikely to be room for a 3rd overseas specialist batsmen. Matt Henry is the darkhorse, as a batsmen he is quite an accomplished hitter

Posted by wapuser on (April 19, 2014, 5:48 GMT)

Take overseas players out, IPL is a very very mediocre domestic competition.

Posted by Ashokdmightyindian on (April 19, 2014, 5:12 GMT)

@SanjeewaWK What has it got to do with Indian captaincy when your bowlers are not performing?Or when the fielders are dropping catches? Or when your best bowler is out due to injury in the mid of the game making him bowl part timers? You do understand that none is better than Dhoni in captaining short formats?Sometimes his plans might backfire but not everytime.Last season the start was poor and what happened next? They ONCE AGAIN reached final!

CSK will miss Hussey this year. They are not that effective anymore

Posted by rajuramki on (April 19, 2014, 4:15 GMT)

There were quite a few reasons for CSK's loss against KingsXI . Firstly, the team selection was wrong .In a 20 over game, there is hardly any chance for 6 batsmen to bat . Secondly, why was a half fit Bravo chosen ahead of Hilfenhaus. Thidly, poor catching and poor umpiring also contributed to the loss . Ideally.Hilfenhaus,Badree and Ishwar Pandey should have been played instead of Duplessis,Bravo and Mohit Sharma. With a batallion of big hitters in Kings XI line up , it was very clear that CSK will not be able to defend even 240 with the kind of bowling resources. Hope Dhoni does not stick with the same XI in the next match also.

could someone explain as to why manan vohra was retained by kxip.? still a mystery

Posted by SanjeewaWK on (April 19, 2014, 3:49 GMT)

Dhoni couldn't depend 200+ score. luck is changing.I feel this is it. also time to replace Indian captaincy.

When MSD was asked how did he miss Bravo's bowling, he replied that he played Bravo as a batsman and he played one bowler short! Is MSD back to his favourite pass time of playing extra batsman and bat-first approach?!

Posted by   on (April 18, 2014, 23:26 GMT)

The bravo injury wouldnt have affected the match anymore. As DHoni said in the post match interview, he was injured with something and was included only as a batsman...

Posted by mca0430221 on (April 18, 2014, 23:21 GMT)

CSK fans have to agree and accept the defeat Punjab played brilliant match despite having young bolling side. you put all your eggs in one basket this will happen their batting is good but what about bolling always depend on ashwin and jaddu.

Posted by   on (April 18, 2014, 21:22 GMT)

I think kings 11 is the best team in 2014 IPL. All they need is couple of good bowler with Johnson. If they will find than they will be champion in 2014.

Posted by   on (April 18, 2014, 20:09 GMT)

McCullum and Smith were bombastic, Maxwell and Miller were fantastic!

Posted by wapuser on (April 18, 2014, 19:45 GMT)

Great performance by foreign batsman and hats off to maxwell and miller who gave great victory to panjab in first match..... RIP to Indian batsman. .......

Posted by ramz30380 on (April 18, 2014, 19:41 GMT)

CSK was good with the bat and Kings XI were better!!! Today's lesson - DO NOT DROP CATCHES OF TOP ORDER BATSMEN - THEY WILL MAKE U PAY!!!!

Mc Cullum was dropped and he made the bowlers pay, Maxwell was dropped and he destroyed CSK's bowling attack, in the 2nd match today Rahane was dropped and he played a match winning sheet anchor role to seal it for RR....

In spite of today's loss I think CSK is a strong side - they need to bring in Hilfy or Badree for FAF may be..... can try Manhas or Aparaith for the No.4 slot. Hope Bravo's injury is not serious - he is such a value player for CSK with bat, ball and on the outfield!

MAxie played a blinder today - no offense to him but I think the real threat in the Kings line up is Miller - Miller ensures tht he stays till the end and finishes games unlike Maxie... MAxie's gamble will come off once in a while but its the reliable ones that other teams need to be vary off...

Posted by   on (April 18, 2014, 19:06 GMT)

CSK lost this game as a result of bravo injury its dhoni's strategy all last season and when he had to use smith to fill the void you know there was no contingency plan. Bravo would have restricted or atleast pick up wicket. All the talk Bravo is the bowling MVP so he most have been missed in those final 8 overs. K1X took advantage and great for them, another point to note i dont know but recently jadjeda just look very lackluster to me he's not giving his 100. Was a great game and CSK just got hit by that injury to bravo

Posted by StuddSundar on (April 18, 2014, 18:53 GMT)

Fantastic batting display by both teams and kudos to Kings XI for their effortless chase of the mammoth score. Both teams lack quality bowling, maybe CSK had bigger names given the conditions and nature of the wicket. CSK had a miserable day as a fielding unit. It is Ashish Nehra's sitter that costed CSK the match. Fleming admits that Nehra was picked for a different reason - to guide the younger fast bowlers. Agree, if that was the case pick him as a bowling coach, not as a player, who will cost you the match. It is not fair to take away the credit from Maxwell and Miller for their super chase. Great effort. Being a CSK fan, would like to see a stronger bowling line up - Badree/Hilfenhaus/Henry for Faf and Hastings for Bravo, if he does not recover in time.

Posted by usernames on (April 18, 2014, 18:51 GMT)

Well played! What a good match!

CSK needs to sort out its pace. It's tough to drop anyone, but if Bravo doesn't play as a bowler, you need to replace him with either Badree or Hilfenhaus and have that extra Indian batsman.

I'd probably have an XI something like this: Smith, McCullum, Raina, Faf, Dhoni, Jadeja, Ashwin, Hastings/Henry/Badree, Pandey, Nehra, Sharma.

What's the deal with calling IPL the Indian T20 League, everywhere across the site IPL has been renamed as Indian T20 League? Do the current and past alleged scandals do not make it "premier" anymore? Even the teams are being referred to as Jaipur instead of Rajasthan Royals or Mohali instead of Kings XI Punjab. Curious to find these answers

Looks like the fielding has taken a dip the last few months. Internationally and now in the IPL. cant figure out the reason but even in the WT20. maybe they players are fatigued or just the lights during night games but if they decide to play matches thn they should give their best. Hope it improves soon cause the quality is dropping fr now atleast

People praising punjab which is revamped with new outfit and some spendings does the change. CSK always having a habit of losing couple of matches in earlier stage and accelerate middle of matches at crucial point of time. MS had experimented local lads so now come to know that these were not good enough. When world class bowler mitchell johnson gave 43 runs these bowlers are not such bad. Maxwell has a great day because of dropped catches. And still some more time to go, and we can see who is top and who is bottom!

Posted by wapuser on (April 18, 2014, 15:58 GMT)

What a stunning performances from four overseas players in two teams but chennai had wasted a chance of getting a big victory by bad bowling and dropped catches

Posted by mtkSF on (April 18, 2014, 15:31 GMT)

Great batting wasted by CSK by lackadaisical fielding, uninspired bowling, and finally a key late injury. to the man who would certainly have been the death bowler, Dwayne Bravo, sealed the deal. But Glenn Maxwell was a beast and should be congratulated for a scintillating performance - Congrats to the Kings XI. Let's go SuperKings! Time to get the annual march to the Championship started #whistlepodu

Posted by Mr.CricketJKNotHussey on (April 18, 2014, 15:11 GMT)

Now for the good. The batting was amazing. Yes, it was chancy, but the pressure was up and they had to take risks. Besides, CSK had plenty of chances as well so it balanced out. Punjab's batting looks really good (one of the best). Sending Akshar up was a one off I think as Bailey was trying to save himself for the end. The beauty about Maxwell is that he can play anywhere in the top 7. Miller needs to play at 4 or 5 since he needs time to set himself in and once he does he can be as destructive as Maxwell. Bailey should normally come at 3 or 4. The opening looks promising, with Pujara making ideal foil to Sehwag and he looked good today. This could also be his chance to prove to the selectors that he can play fast and that he should be in for the WC. Vohra could be another option but I feel like they retained him for future grooming. Other than that, the batting looks great. One of the gutsiest chases I have ever seen in the true Punjab spirit.

this is a really great article

Posted by Mr.CricketJKNotHussey on (April 18, 2014, 15:06 GMT)

Great Match. I'll talk about the bad first, the bowling. KXIP has a new look attack and I think they were trying to bowl like KKR did on Wednesday, short. The pitch was slightly different, so it didn't work but its fine. Johnson had an off day, but he should bounce back. Balaji was bowling well, but he shouldn't be used in the death overs, so he must bowl out early. Akshar did decently considering this is just his first game. Rishi Dhawan bounced back superbly after that first over. I honestly would replace Awana with Kartik, to get a good balance into the bowling attack and add more options. But if Punjab want to stick to pace, I would swap Awana out for Sandeep Sharma. He is more of a wicket taker and more economical. He can also bowl in the opeing overs, leaving the latter overs for Johnsons. Plus, Awana is too similar to Johnson but not as fast, so Sandeep would add more variety to the attack.

@cricketfan11111 I agree with you .They are making it like a trend. I think they will find their best 11 soon .In 2011 , 2012 they faced a same problem like this

Dhoni is experimenting with local boys. Csk will start slowly the tournament , as the tournament progresses it will find the current balance of foreigners. I think the squad for the next match will be like Smith , Brendon ,Raina , Mithun , dhoni , Bravo , jaddu , ashwin , badee / hilfenhaus , nehra , mohit / ishwar

If the pitch has extra bounce and pace i will prefer hilfy and ishwar .If it has some spin i will prefer badree As dd has lot of right handers jaddu will bowl 4 overs , badree will finish his 4, ash will finish 4 , bravo will finish his 4 and nehra and mohit will bowl 2 each .For duminy dhoni will use raina 2 overs So there is a toss up between jaddu raina. With this combination of bowling attack chennai will defend any score against dd . And i cant understand why dhoni preferred du plessis .He was treated like badri in season 2013.I will prefer mithun who scored 40 out of 20 balls. So if the top has scored most runs Dhoni will come.

CSK bowlers lost the match Poor team selection. How could you have the #1 ranked T20 bowler in the world (Badree) and not play him. Especially since Faf didn't bat and you claim you didn't play Bravo as a bowler.

I am surprised by some of the comments here who are calling Nehra was a bad choice. It was a batting paradise and Nehra by far was the best bowler from CSK. He even bowl better than MJ (from Punjab). I think Dhoni misread the pitch and went with three spinners instead he should have gone with Ishwar Panday for Negi. Punjab team is looking as strong as RCB in batting department. They only lack quality spinner if needed. (M Karthik is their though). Well played Punjab! You deserved the victory today!! Another reason for me to root for Mohali because they included Pujara, Sehwag and R Dhawan (all my favorites).

Kings XI chased quite comfortabily while Viru didn't stay so much. What will happen in upcoming games with massive hitting by Viru, Maxwell, Miller and Baily....

Posted by   on (April 18, 2014, 14:14 GMT)

You can call it good batting or poor bowling by both teams...For CSK Samueal Badree must be in for Negi and Aparajith for Du plasis...stiill surprise why CSK don't buy any recognized main fast bowlers

Posted by Cricketfan11111 on (April 18, 2014, 14:09 GMT)

This is how CSK starts the tournament. Loosing early matches and peaking at the later stages. Hope same trend continues. Very good t20 game. It is batsman's paradise and maxwell was superb. Hope bravo's injury is not serious.

Posted by   on (April 18, 2014, 14:05 GMT)

No surprise when CSK play without international fast bowers......Jadeja also didn't come back to form for long time now. Both team bowling wasn't good...seems good to bat on that pitch.

Posted by   on (April 18, 2014, 14:05 GMT)

CSK doesn't seems to have right bowlers to backup their batsmen..batting alone doesn't win u a match!!!i feel KKR has best bowling unit in this IPL!!!

Posted by gautam_the_matrix on (April 18, 2014, 14:05 GMT)

Amazing amazing display of batting by kings XI Punjab...Firstly, they went to a flier start by hitting four boundaries by Sehwag and Pujara. Then the eye catching partnership between Maxwell and Miller. Maxwell did the hammering part during the partnership and Miller did the anchoring part. After Maxwell got out, Miller hit a boundary and two sixes of the next three ball he faced to carry on the momentum. And at last, Bailey finishes the job in style. this is one of the best chases in T20. Brilliant...

Clinical performance by revamped punjab team, if old squad exists, they would ve been lose badly. And when world class bowler like mitchell johnson gives lot of runs, why cant the ordinary bowlers of csk do? No bravo, no suresh bowled today, seems MSD experimenting his local lads. This can be a lesson and replace Badree, ishwar pandey, aparajith with nehra, mohit and faf.

@Posted by Dhruv Sirohi on (April 18, 2014, 12:24 GMT) You are right Dhruv. Even I thought CSK will score at least 225 after the 1st 10 overs but KXIP bowled 3-4 good overs and target was limited to 205 which was within reach of KXIP fearsome line up on a good batting pitch.

awesome maxwell done it again , if u drop the cathes like maxwell u have to pay for it overall supper chasing supported by miller. poor bowling by csk, it was entertaining.

so whoever is sayin punjab will win by luck. here is an answer to em.. stronger then ever

Posted by TRAM on (April 18, 2014, 13:55 GMT)

It required the amazing skills of Asish Nehra to lose the match for csk. Every in the world knew his great fielding capacity except Dhoni !! CSK deserved the result for such awful team selection. What happened to Eshwer Pandey?

Posted by   on (April 18, 2014, 13:54 GMT)

KXIP have assembled a great team.... all their batsmen are in good nick and Maxwell is finally showing why he s rated so highly back in aus.... bailey was pretty ordinary with his captaincy but otherwise pretty strong line up... Johnson will turn matches on his own at some point and if they can get the best out of rishi dhawan and awana they can win the title...

Posted by TSJ07 on (April 18, 2014, 13:48 GMT)

wow!! I wrote earlier that KXIP made poor selections but they still are winning it. They will be even better with their best squad.

Posted by   on (April 18, 2014, 13:47 GMT)

poor doni cool continuing his loosing form

Posted by   on (April 18, 2014, 13:44 GMT)

mohit sharma is the best bowler of msd....

Game changers so far in the IPL - Malinga, Neesham and Nehra. Three dropped catches that turned all three matches around - you don't drop Kallis, Kohli and Maxwell in T20 and expect to win.

Posted by   on (April 18, 2014, 13:38 GMT)

monopoly of dhoni is going to end..he drop shami in wc and now no genuine fast bowler..

Posted by   on (April 18, 2014, 13:23 GMT)

poor IPL missing lot of no 1 team players for last one year of t20

Posted by   on (April 18, 2014, 12:42 GMT)

CSK maintain their strong side with great choice of players. KXIP seems to be stronger than ever before. Good match.

Posted by   on (April 18, 2014, 12:31 GMT)

The CSK batting line up is of International class and imposing to say the least. Baz, Dwayne Smith, Raina, Dhoni, Faf, Bravo, Jadeja this top 7 will be a top international side's envy. Not to forget Ashwin who follows, who is also a decent bat,

Posted by   on (April 18, 2014, 12:24 GMT)

It was looking 240 at a time. 205-4.This the same score RCB posted in 2012 and lost. Cmmon Punjab.Give CSK a medicine for their own treatment.

Brendon McCullum & Dwayne Smith - terrific opening pair. Not sure why these players were not retained by their previous franchises.

Posted by Snambidi on (April 18, 2014, 12:20 GMT)

CSK& Brendon MaCullum has started with a bang. With pinch hitters like Dhoni,Raina,Jadeja & everyone else in a mood to perform superbly, there appears to have a good chance for a wonderful feast of Cricket for cricket lovers in the coming days.I have not the WI veteran Bravo. All together they are going to rule cricket in the Gulf as well as in India when they return to India, Today's performance from Brendon,Dhoni,Bravo & briefly by Raina is a clear indication of what is in store for the next few days. Any score over 200 is always a winning score.there are very few exceptions to this. CSK have looked after their work expected from them in the controversial circumstances& is likely to better their performance in the days to follow. One can not expect CSK TO GO WITHOUT THE TROPHY OF THIS SEASON. All the Best to every team & players especially MaCullum,Dhoni,Yuvaraj & the like all the way through this season. Of course more so for genuine Cricket lovers who love Sixes& Fours.

@Posted by wapuser on (April 18, 2014, 11:19 GMT) Agree that Pujara is better batsman that Vohra overall but this is T20 and we know Pujara cant bat that fast and he is very poor fielder too. I guess if Viru doesn't perform then Mandeep is better as he is class fielder. Then Gurkeerta can keep also for Saha. Next match they should play Karthik for Awana who will be better in Mohali though.

Kings Xi Punjab facing the Baz Blast and the Dwayne Demolition! Super Kings are super imposing their authority on the cricket field!!!!

Posted by   on (April 18, 2014, 11:30 GMT)

common csk v r getting stronger n stronger year by year two new players of csk brend n Smith rocking

Posted by wapuser on (April 18, 2014, 11:19 GMT)

I think Mumbai seriously did a disservice to themselves by giving up Dwayne Smith .He plays more responsibly than any other West Indian and was one of the most consistent for them instead of using RTM for Ojha they could have got Dwayne smith. CSK have a much better opening than before I feel and they will emerge champions most likely .Those saying Vohra should have been in for Pujara forget that last IPL Vohra did not light the stage on fire ( Dont know why he was even retained .We can see the logic in retaining Samson ).They dont have a proper spinner and in flat pitches we can see how effective all their seamers are.

Posted by javed305 on (April 18, 2014, 11:16 GMT)

Awesome! 10 wides from punjab bolwers. What are they doing. They are playing against CSK CSK.Team to Beat. Droping Brendon wlil cost them to much. CSK have deep batting line. Punjab may win by luck. But for now csk are on match

Posted by wapuser on (April 18, 2014, 11:11 GMT)

Wheres T.Perera M.Karthik M.Vohra

Posted by   on (April 18, 2014, 10:55 GMT)

manan vohra in for pujara and gurkeerat in for saha is good choice

Posted by TSJ07 on (April 18, 2014, 10:37 GMT)

KXIP has already done few mistakes by choosing Pujara and Saha. They should have gone with Vohra and Gurkeerat and also included M Karthik somehow. And then they started bowling with a rookie spinner and rookie medium pacer when they have MJ in their ranks.
