Corey Anderson fit in time for IPL

New Zealand allrounder Corey Anderson is expected to join his IPL team, Mumbai Indians, later this week, with his finger injury having healed well. Anderson had cut and dislocated the little finger of his of his right hand during the World T20.

"There's no fracture, no break and we're very happy with how the injury is going," Anderson said, according to Fairfax NZ News, after seeing a specialist in Auckland on Friday, April 4. "The ligaments are all fine too; everything else is good to go. Everything went well and the news was all positive."

Anderson was bought for US$750,000 at the IPL auction in February, after an impressive few months in international cricket, during which he broke the long-standing record for the fastest ODI century. His participation in the tournament, however, was in doubt, after he hurt himself while attempting a catch against Sri Lanka.

The IPL begins on April 16, in the UAE, with defending champions Mumbai Indians playing the opener against Kolkata Knight Riders in Abu Dhabi.

The problem with Mumbai yet again this year is that they have too many good overseas players who could end up getting benched for the whole season. I honestly cannot see guys like Ben Dunk and Josh Hazelwood get a single game unless their other overseas stars get injured or unwell. On the other side, their Indian players are not that good except a couple of their bowlers in ZAK and Bhaji. So the onus for Mumbai will be on their overseas players and Indian internationals to retain the cup. Won't be easy for them this year.

CSk seems most balanced side my CSK 11

Baba Aparajith,Dwayne Smith,Suresh Raina,Faf Du Plessis,Dwayne Bravo, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja,Mithun Manhas/Ishwar Pandey, Mohit Sharma,Ben Hilfenhaus/Matt Henry . Even though Samuel Badree and mcculum are topclass they are most probably get less matches as CSK usually stick with their 11 for most of the matches.

  • sramesh_74 on April 8, 2014, 3:36 GMT

That is not surprising!! Would his injury heal in time if NZ were meant to play Bangladesh or Zimbabwe?

  • Cpt.Meanster on April 7, 2014, 20:00 GMT

I wish him well. However, I shall reserve judgement about his ability after I see him play on Indian pitches against the turning ball. Still, he seems to be a very talented and skilled player. Mumbai Indians will definitely be a stronger unit with him on the field. Best wishes.

mumbai are the favourites to win ipl again because they have best allrounders in t20 like pollard, corey, harbhajan and brilliant batsman like rohit and hussey and best t20 bowler malinga.only weakness is that they don't have quality backup if one of their player gets injured or doesn't perform, otherwise MI has the best playing xi among all the teams and looks strongest on paper.

@Ali raza. Right. Just one good inning (s) include a 36 ball hundred. A century in a test in Bangladesg when we are about to be knocked out, 66* and 3 big wickets in an odi vs India. Then a whirlwind 40 and 4 wickets vs India. Then a 5-for as well. Good bowling and fielding in t20 world cup and debut just 7 months ago. Tell me which "one inning" you were talking about.

  • on April 7, 2014, 17:05 GMT

he will be total failure. he played only one good inning.

  • on April 7, 2014, 17:03 GMT

with $750,000 he will play regardless if he is fit or not.
