48.4

Mishra to Hussey, no run, quicker, bit of bounce and Hussey goes back quickly to defend

48.5

Mishra to Hussey, no run, turns in quickly from outside off, nudged to short leg

48.6

Mishra to Hussey, no run, googly on the middle stump line and Hussey picked it up and leaned forward to defend.

That's stumps on day 2. Very nice fight back from Katich and Hussey. Both the left-handers used the width of the crease brilliantly to play the spinners. Harbhajan stayed round the stumps, Sehwag stayed over the wickets, Mishra went both sides but they couldn't break through. Fascinating day 3 on cards. Join me, Sriram Veera, and Binoy George tomorrow. Till then, good bye and good luck.

End of over 49 (1 run) Australia 189/2

Welcome to day 3. That was a lovely innings from Katich and Hussey last evening. What a turnaround for Katich from his dark days after 2005 Ashes. In an interview earlier in the series he told me how he felt down and out those days. And it was a phone call that changed things around for him. Bob Simpson was on the other end of the wire and told him, "Mate I can help you." Katich was unable to hit the balls straight down the pitch and the bottom hand was getting too much control and he would keep turning them square of the wicket. Simpson did the hard yards and slowly things turned around.

And Kato is still grateful: "I have not forgotten that gesture. At that point I was very down with the way I was going but to know that some one like him was there and wanting to help me gave me great confidence. The fact that he was prepared to do the hard yards to try get my career back will be something that I would be always be grateful for."

And Hussey too has an interesting story. He felt he was struggling in the last two years. He averaged 62.42 in that period! He said, "Even in good conditions where I felt like other guys were able to play their shots quite comfortably and hit down the ground and drive and pull well, I still felt like I was struggling for timing a fair bit." And so he went to meet Tom Moody and asked him to help him drive down the ground and be more attacking in general. So I asked him in a press conference- this is after his innings in Hyderabad - "You mean drive down the ground more? And he said yes. When reminded that he scored 95 of his 126 runs [in that knock] square of the pitch he laughed, "There you go. I need more practice". Good man. He has not made the quest to get better a negative obsession.

There is some time yet for the start. Let me remind all you social network addicts that we now have a Cricinfo page on Facebook. And if you're not able to follow the game in front of a computer, you can read every word I type on your cell phones, right here . Twitter users can follow our news here. And we also have Widgets.

Here is that Katich interview I was talking about earlier. It was about how he handles the criticism of being a "boring" player and such. So next day I met him and said, the interview is looking good and he went, "I am looking good? That's a surprise!" And he broke into a laughter.

Back here and now, the Indian players get into a huddle and the two Aussie batsmen walk past them and to the middle. Now they break away from the huddle and move towards their fielding positions. Zaheer to bowl
