England in India ODI Series - 2nd ODI

India v England

India won by 54 runs

8.55: We're moments away from the start. The pitch, they say, is expected to get slower and lower as the game progresses so it should be a good toss to win for India. James Anderson has the ball. England are playing their 500th ODI btw.

8.45 Hello and welcome to Cricinfo's coverage of the second ODI between India and England in Indore.

We apologise for the delay in commentary as we've been experiencing technical problems. Nothing to worry. Let's cross our fingers for uninterrupted coverage for the rest of the game.

Toss: Mahendra Singh Dhoni has won the toss and India will bat. India are unchanged, which means Yuvraj Singh is fit. England are unchanged as well.

India: 1 Virender Sehwag, 2 Gautam Gambhir, 3 Suresh Raina, 4 Yuvraj Singh, 5 Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt & wk), 6 Rohit Sharma, 7 Yusuf Pathan, 8 Harbhajan Singh, 9 Zaheer Khan, 10 RP Singh, 11 Munaf Patel.

England: 1 Matt Prior (wk), 2 Ian Bell, 3 Owais Shah, 4 Kevin Pietersen (capt), 5 Andrew Flintoff, 6 Paul Collingwood, 7 Ravi Bopara, 8 Samit Patel, 9 Stuart Broad, 10 James Anderson, 11 Steve Harmison.

0.1

Anderson to Gambhir, 1 run, straightaway off the mark and a very risky single too, Gambhir taps it softly to Patel at short midwicket and takes off, he takes aim and the throw at the stumps is just a little too wide

0.2

Anderson to Sehwag, 1 bye, well the first signs of low bounce, after the ball left Sehwag it bounced very low to Prior and rebounded off him

0.3

Anderson to Gambhir, no run, pitches on a good length outside off and beats the outside edge, Anderson will be happy with that bounce

0.4

Anderson to Gambhir, 1 leg bye, softly tucked away very close to the pads to the on side and they jog the single very easily this time

0.5

Anderson to Sehwag, 1 run, oh an inside edge, Sehwag hangs his bat out outside off the ball trickles past the stumps and runs to fine leg, should have been two there

0.6

Anderson to Gambhir, no run, pitches around the off stumps and goes through a little low to Prior

It's not often that the city of Indore gets a game so it's not surprising to see the huge turnout today. The ground's buzzing.

Have you joined the India-England fantasy teams yet? It's loads of fun. Hope you cobble together a good team that can you win some thing.

1.2

Broad to Sehwag, OUT, inside edge and timber! Broad gets the ball to cut back in after pitching on a good length and Sehwag is a little late in covering the movement, the ball takes the inside edge and strikes the base of the offstump. Sehwag played a similar shot off Anderson in the previous over but got away. Not this time.

It's drinks. This has been England's morning so far, thanks in no small way to Stuart Broad. Batting isn't very easy on this pitch folks. Batsmen will have to be patient and grind it out on this surface.

Nick from Ireland: "Why do subcontinent teams play so many more ODI's than England? Here's Yuvraj playing his 219th match at this level, nearly 70 more than the highest appearence holder currently in the England side in Collingwood, who is 6 years Yuvraj's senior. Surely if England want to take this format seriously then they should come down off their pedestal and play more full series against the likes of Ireland, Scotland and Holland, if just for the experience factor?"

That last over may just give India the psychological edge. England held the initiative only in passages but the Indians had more to brag about. Yuvraj was unstoppable again. He used to struggle on slow pitches but today he didn't let that bother him. In the context of the situation early in the morning, this knock was more crucial than the Rajkot blinder.

England did extremely well to pull things back in the Powerplay. They will have to go out there and believe they can chase this down. Pushing Bopara up the order will not be a bad idea. Join us shortly for the chase.

Do check out our official Facebook page here. Also, you may want to contribute to this discussion. As usual, Dudeshwar gives the English no chance of putting it across the home team. But he does expect them to show a bit more spine today. Perhaps some of you might consider giving him a piece of your mind.

Have you joined the India-England fantasy teams yet? It's loads of fun. Hope you cobble together a good team that can win you some thing.
