England in India ODI Series - 4th ODI

India v England

India won by 19 runs (D/L method)

1.1

Broad to Tendulkar, 2 runs, and he's away first ball, shuffling and nudging this one off the stumps and wide of midwicket, rolling the wrists, gets two even as Sehwag drops his bat on the second

1.2

Broad to Tendulkar, no run, hits a good length and straightens, Tendulkar shoulders arms

1.3

Broad to Tendulkar, no run, onto the front foot, coolly pushing the ball to the man at cover

1.4

Broad to Tendulkar, no run, pitches on a good length and Tendulkar leaves it be

1.5

Broad to Tendulkar, no run, movement again and Tendulkar calmly shoulders arms

1.6

Broad to Tendulkar, FOUR, too straight and thats whipped with the utmost precision and placement, Tendulkar just shuffling and working the wrists to pick the gap between square leg and midwicket to collect his first boundary, a fine shot that

India 10/0   SCJ Broad 1-0-6-0

3.1

Broad to Tendulkar, no run, hits a length outside off, Tendulkar comes in and leaves it be

3.2

Broad to Tendulkar, no run, a touch short and he gets up, crunching it straight to point

3.3

Broad to Tendulkar, no run, good shot for nothing, Tendulkar gets back on his toes and drives excellently but cannot pierce the field on the off side

3.4

Broad to Tendulkar, no run, ah ha, a short one now at good pace, rising outside off the stump and Tendulkar flays the bat it, very narrowly missing out on getting an edge to Prior

3.5

Broad to Tendulkar, no run, pitches on about leg stump and hits Tendulkar rather high on the flap as he hops back and tries to defend, Broad again lets out an elongated appeal (which Andy Zaltzman would have liked!) but umpire Saheba isn't convinced ... it was going on over the stumps

3.6

Broad to Tendulkar, no run, gets forward and drops it towards the off side but doesn't run

India 18/0   SCJ Broad 2-1-6-0

5.1

Broad to Tendulkar, no run, lands on a good length and Tendulkar pushes it down past Sehwag, he wants a run but mid-on is sharp to get across and cut off any thoughts of a single

5.2

Broad to Tendulkar, 1 bye, change of pace from Broad, pitching short of a length, Tendulkar gets tall and drives from his crease, getting an inside edge as he goes hard at it, it deviates down the leg side and drops well short of a tumbling Prior, then escapes down to fine leg and umpire Saheba blunders by signalling leg byes!

5.3

Broad to Sehwag, FOUR, ah, another edge and no one moved! Poor Broad, who again drops short and gets Sehwag up on the toes, playing a cramped uppercut, there's a thick edge but Prior didn't move to his right and he and Shah at first slip look on as the ball runs away

5.4

Broad to Sehwag, no run, back of a length outside off stump and he leaves this one be

5.5

Broad to Sehwag, FOUR, thats four more! Sehwag gets loads of room and chops into the ground in front of backward point, where Collingwood dives to his right and parries the ball away

5.6

Broad to Sehwag, 1 run, slower ball, middle and leg, easily turned wide of square leg

India 32/0   SCJ Broad 3-1-15-0

7.1

Broad to Tendulkar, no run, beaten on the big shot! Tendulkar heaves at one but the length was no on for that shot, ends up looking rather ugly after the ball narrowly beats bat

7.2

Broad to Tendulkar, no run, fuller now and he rolls the wrists, driving it back down the track, Broad dives to his right and takes pace off the ball, well stopped in his follow through

7.3

Broad to Tendulkar, no run, another shot across the line, this one was fractionally short outside off stump nut Tendulkar inside-edges back onto his thigh, the ball rolls to the gully

7.4

Broad to Tendulkar, FOUR, now thats a shot! Just short of a length outside off stump and he absolutely murders that off the back foot, smacking it between cover and point for four

7.5

Broad to Tendulkar, OUT, would you believe it, Broad's cleaned up Tendulkar first ball after the delay! What scenes! Broad pitches on a really good length, fuller than what he's bowled to far, and gets Tendulkar driving on the up, the ball sneaks back in and disturbs the furniture as Tendulkar shapes to play through the line but the ball cut back in past the gap

SR Tendulkar b Broad 11 (40m 21b 2x4 0x6) SR: 52.38

7.6

Broad to Gambhir, FOUR, some swing there, but Gambhir counters with a lovely flick for four

India 42/1   SCJ Broad 4-1-23-1

9.1

Broad to Gambhir, no run, full and wide, he square drives but cannot beat the off-side field

9.2

Broad to Gambhir, FOUR, again he drives, this time getting an inside edge wide of leg stump

9.3

Broad to Gambhir, no run, too wide outside the off stump and Gambhir leaves it be

9.4

Broad to Gambhir, FOUR, pitches full and straightens, Gambhir works it with the swing, pushing it between mid-on and midwicket and the timing is rather excellent, lovely shot

9.5

Broad to Gambhir, FOUR, glorious stroke, Gambhir just leans into width and square-drives imperiously through the off side, a shot of a man in great form ... did India err by opening with Tendulkar?

9.6

Broad to Gambhir, no run, change of pace, pitches on a length just outside off stump, Gambhir gets across and checks his shot to midwicket

India 61/1   SCJ Broad 5-1-35-1

15.2

Broad to Sehwag, 1 run, pitches on middle and Sehwag whips it out to deep square leg

15.3

Broad to Gambhir, 1 run, short of a length and its steered down to third man

15.4

Broad to Sehwag, 2 runs, bounced in short, Sehwag goes for the pull and sends it spiraling up in the air, its up for a while and like the last over, drops safely at fine leg, and thats his fifty, well played

15.5

Broad to Sehwag, FOUR, superb shot! Sehwag gets half a dozen, getting up on one leg and whipping another slow bouncer down to deep square leg, the ball drops just short of the ropes and the umpires give it six ... the farce continues ... now Saheba is told via the walkie talkie and he changes his signal to four

15.6

Broad to Sehwag, SIX, hammered again! No need to signal four on that bulldozer of a shot! Poor Broad is not learning, still dropping short and he can only crane his neck to see the ball lands rows back over midwicket after Sehwag swats it disdainfully away

India 103/1   SCJ Broad 6-1-49-1
