Mishra to Strauss, OUT, well held, Mishra! Strauss falls close before stumps, chipping a generously tossed up delivery back towards Mishra's left and he dives to take a very good catch, ending a fine innings from Strauss, one which may prove very crucial as this match pans out

AJ Strauss c & b Mishra 123 (356m 233b 15x4 0x6) SR: 52.78

Just reward for Mishra, who flighted the ball up even after conceding a boundary the ball before. In comes the nightwatchman with about 30 minutes left. Its James Anderson. That was a class hundred from Strauss.

83.4

Mishra to Anderson, no run, big shout! Mishra fizzes it up, the flipper looks like, Anderson defends and gets an inside edge onto the front pad, which balloons up to Laxman at silly point, they all appeal but the umpire is unmoved ... what was the appeal for? If for lbw, fair enough, but the fielder took the ball after the inside edge!

83.5

Mishra to Anderson, no run, tossed up again, Anderson defends and gets hit outside the line

83.6

Mishra to Anderson, no run, survives the over ... though he should have been out ... with another block

India appealed for the lbw it seems. Not a convincing shout from Laxman or Mishra.

4.55pm Thats 90 overs complete and stumps. India will be happy with having kept England to 229 for 5 after the openers added 118 in 40 overs. Andrew Strauss hit a classy 123, his 13th Test hundred, but England collapsed from 164 for 1 to 221 for 5. Zaheer Khan was the pick of India's bowlers, reverse-swinging the ball both ways and taking out two wickets. Paul Collingwood received a dreadful decision and then Amit Mishra took a smart return catch to cut off Strauss late into the day.

Hope you've enjoyed the coverage today. Do come back and join Binoy George and myself, Jamie Alter, tomorrow morning at 9.30am local. Until then, if you've got a question for Geoffrey Boycott regarding the India-England series, how to read a googly, or on anything else, you can submit your queries by clicking here. And you can discuss this match on our Facebook page, which is almost a mirror site of Cricinfo.com.

See you all tomorrow, cheers!

End of over 90 (maiden) England 229/5

A Flintoff    18* (64b 2x4)      Z Khan    17-7-36-2

9.20am Hello and a very warm welcome to all of you whereever you may be logging on from. This is day two and I'm Jamie Alter, your commentator. Binoy George will be joining me shortly to handle the scoring duties.

Still anyone's match really, what with England five down and Andrew Flintoff still out there. Now that said, Flintoff is not one to dead-bat an entire session or nudge the ball around for two hours. There's only Matt Prior to follow, so England need at least a half-century from Flintoff. If he does that, they are looking at a total of around 350. If Flintoff goes early, even 300 might be tough.

India will be confident given the way they triggered a collapse yesterday. Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma found reverse on day one, so let's keep an eye on them. And what Mahendra Singh Dhoni does in the first 30-40 minutes.

For our users in India, check out some cool cricket merchandise here!

Here come the players. Let's get this started. A very important session coming up because it can significantly swing the momentum either side's way. Wonderful way for day two of a Test to begin. I am McLoving it.

Once again, good morning to all the fans in India, logging in from the office, I presume, and early risers in the UK. To the rest across the world, welcome. Ishant Sharma runs in ....

90.1

Sharma to Flintoff, no run, starts off on a length and Flintoff drives the ball to midwicket

90.2

Sharma to Flintoff, no run, a touch fuller, looking for swing, Flintoff clips to midwicket

90.3

Sharma to Flintoff, no run, oh there's a shout! Sharma searches for reverse swing and nips one back into Flintoff, stuck on his crease, ball seems to be doing too much, or does it? To the naked eye it looked like missing leg stump - which is why apart from Ishant there was not much appealing - but then replays show it was hitting its mark. One of those calls, I'd say, there was no shout from Dhoni, as it was a maginal call, Bowden could see middle and off when it rapped the pads, fair call.

90.4

Sharma to Flintoff, no run, on the stumps and he gets in line to defend it back

90.5

Sharma to Flintoff, no run, pitches on the length and Flintoff again defends it out

90.6

Sharma to Flintoff, no run, full and swinging into leg stump and he flicks it to midwicket

End of over 91 (maiden) England 229/5
A Flintoff    18* (70b 2x4)      I Sharma    16-3-29-0

Here comes Zaheer Khan. Just two slips. No gully. A deep point.

91.1

Khan to Anderson, no run, full outside off stump, tempting the drive, but Anderson leaves

91.2

Khan to Anderson, no run, this time he gets to the pitch and drives to the man at cover

91.3

Khan to Anderson, no run, slow short delivery, just 125ks, Anderson sways away

91.4

Khan to Anderson, no run, another bouncer, middle and off, Anderson takes evasive action

91.5

Khan to Anderson, no run, pitches on a good length and seams away, Anderson leaves it be

91.6

Khan to Anderson, no run, on a full length and now he defends it back uneasily to Zaheer

End of over 92 (maiden) England 229/5
JM Anderson    2* (23b)      Z Khan    18-8-36-2
A Flintoff    18* (70b 2x4)      I Sharma    16-3-29-0

"Freddie has to stand up today. Since his return from his (latest) ankle set back, he really needs to get himself set to bat to at least tea. A man of his power and influence could alter not only the course of this match but also the series," says Michael from Australia.

Immediately we see Amit Mishra replace Ishant. Interesting move. A slip and short leg in place.

92.1

Mishra to Flintoff, no run, tossed up on a length, Flintoff plants his front leg firmly forward and defends, there are two sounds and Mishra asks a rather unconvincing question

92.2

Mishra to Flintoff, no run, tossed up on middle and leg and he defends

92.3

Mishra to Flintoff, no run, appeal for lbw! Flintoff comes well forward and defends, there's the thinnest of inside edges but the bowler didn't hear it, belting out a very confident shout this time

92.4

Mishra to Flintoff, no run, full on leg stump and he on-drives it back to Mishra

92.5

Mishra to Flintoff, OUT, got 'em! Flintoff cannot play the slow, nurdling and nudging game for long and he perishes early, thrusting forward again and getting another inside edge that bobs up to Gambhir at forward short leg, so Dhoni's move to swap Ishant for Mishra after just one over works superbly

A Flintoff c Gambhir b Mishra 18 (80m 75b 2x4 0x6) SR: 24.00

Out comes Matt Prior, averaging over 40.00 in Tests. His first game since end 2007.

92.6

93.3

Khan to Anderson, 1 run, short again and this time Anderson rides the bounce, uppercutting over gully and down to the fielder running across from third man

94.3

Mishra to Prior, 2 runs, slides in the googly from middle and leg, Prior brushes it off is pads in the air wide of Gambhir at short leg, calls Anderson and they run hard for a couple

94.4

Mishra to Prior, 2 runs, this too slides down the pads, Prior tickles it down to fine leg

Dhoni puts Laxman in at leg gully now...

94.5

95.3

Khan to Anderson, no run, again he invites the drive and Anderson chops it back to Zaheer

95.4

"If you exclude Strauss, England have scored 9 boundaries in 97 overs. 1 boundary every 10 overs. Has India bowled that well or it there just a lack of intent?" asks Bala. Well, they have bowled well, especially the fast bowlers, but it was rather watchful going from England. The opening stand consumed 40 overs and set a strong platform, and then Cook and Pietersen played atrocious shots.

Sharma to Anderson, no run, an errant bounce first up, giving Dhoni work to do behind the stumps
