Delhi's opening match of the 2007-08 domestic season against Rajasthan, scheduled for November 3, has been postponed by a day. The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has decided to give the team a break after their one-day warm-up match against Pakistan on November 2.
Meanwhile, Ashish Nehra, the left-arm seamer, has been ruled out of the Pakistan match. "Only Nehra in the 15-member team [the Ranji squad] will not play the warm-up match due to an ankle injury. We will probably replace him with someone from the stand-bys," Chetan Chauhan, the chairman of Delhi's selection committee, told IANS.
The DDCA has announced that preparations for the match have been completed. "There will be no tickets for the match, so fans can just walk in to watch the action. We have readied the lower-tier, comprising 15,000 seats, for the spectators," said SK Bansal, the association's general secretary. "Additionally, provision for water and snacks for spectators has also been made, besides sufficient security arrangements by the Delhi Police."
Pakistan are set to play three Tests and five ODIs during their 42-day tour of India.
