"Forget what's happening with the bowling, for those of us following this match in Australia it is hard to comprehend just how Wasim Jaffer is recalled after his series in Australia. "I disagree with Stuart over his last statement. You cannot disregard a player based on a few bad performances, just like you cannot bring someone into a test squad due to their ODI heroics. That is the same mistake they made with Yuvraj Singh and I am glad they are sticking with Jaffer, who has always done well in the subcontinent," says Tilo.

105.6

Stuart replies: "Was Gambhir's efforts across an entire series 'ODI heriocs' or simply good form? While I agree with Tilo that Jaffer shouldn't be totally discarded on the back of a few bad innings, and his form in domestic cricket has been solid, but how is Gambhir, a young batsman who showed enough talent in Australia to at least warrant a chance, ever going to get a game?"

The ball has gone out of shape, it isn't fitting through the rings the umpires use to gauge the shape and has been changed.

Lunch 11.30 am local time: South Africa have had the better of yet another session, they've scored exactly 100 runs for the loss of de Villiers off 23 overs. Amla's played fluently for his 124 and though Boucher has looked iffy at times, he's helped add 47 runs for the sixth wicket.

Sreesanth was India's best bowler by some distance and Kumble has been woefully short of options considering that RP and Harbhajan have proved to be ineffective. I'll be back at 12.10 pm for the second session.

"I think it's time India got serious about picking 11 players that give the team the best chance of winning. The five-bowler policy worked wonderfully in Australia, why can't they employ the same tactics at home? When will they realise that two pacers just aren't enough," says Shiv.
