Sri Lanka in India Test Series - 3rd Test

India v Sri Lanka

India won by an innings and 24 runs

Overs 1-50  | Overs 51-100

Hello and a warm welcome to the third Test between India and Sri Lanka. First Test in CCI Brabourne in a long long time has made me look back a bit. Remember this old Doordarshan montage? This used to play at the start of any telecast and easily, one of the most exciting moments when you are sitting, waiting for the telecast to start and for play to begin. Nostalgia means middle-life crisis but we won't get there now, don't you worry. We should have the toss at 9.00 am local time.

I am Sriram Veera, your commentator for this game, and thanks for logging on.

Pitch report by SMGavaskar on Neo Cricket: "Bat-first pitch. The surface is dry underneath the shaved-off grass. It might help the spinners later on and it's a bat-first pitch."

Toss: Sangakkara has won the toss and has chosen to bat. "There is a bit of moisture in there, the first hour and half has to be played carefully. Hopefully it will take spin from day 3 4 and 5. We have the quality, we need to get the performances come together. Kulasekara in for Ajantha Mendis."

Dhoni: "I would have batted first but there is a bit of moisture in the track and it would assist the seamers. If we can get wickets it might not be a bad toss to lose. The preparation has been excellent. Just one change: Instead of Gautam Gambhir, we will have Murali Vijay who would be opening."

Karthik: "maan..you take me back to my childhood..posting that dd montage..its 1040 PM in NYC and am revisiting childhood memories..sigh!" Ha! i know. Remember 'Phir kya hua didi?!

Oh ho! Lots of mails have come in on the DD montage and looking back teary eyed at Malgudi days, mile sur and what not. But match about to begin. Here we go.

That's lunch on day 1. Fine start by Paranavitana and Dilshan before Harbhajan entered the fray to create a few problems with his turn, loop and bounce. This looks an interesting pitch. Will it slow down or remain like this? If it does and continues to assist turn, Murali would love it. Harbhajan has bowled really well here. Join us in a while for the second session.

SriCharan: "If Bhajji can be constitent with loopy/flighted deliveries this throughout this match, which he has this morning, then it might make him a bit difficult to face. Add a wicket to his bowling figures, he is going to be more charged up!! Hope he silences his critics in this match.."

Sameer Shadab: "I believe the pitch curator has decided to gift-wrap this pitch for Murali as a parting gift. It will be interesting to see how this Indian line-up fairs against Murali, especially since our best player against spin has decided to not play this match."

V Gomes: "Glad to see you talking about "looks like a great toss to win". Didn't see you talking about it in the last match - even though the last toss was useful since there was ABSOLUTELY nothing in the last match for the bowlers in the first 2 days. This time there is some turn/bounce on day one." HA! Gomes, I didn't do commentary last game. This is the first game I am doing bbb in this series. Each commentator is going to be different in what he says; maybe that person thought it was obvious thing to say and hence avoided it.
