Sri Lanka in India ODI Series - 2nd ODI

India v Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka won by 3 wickets (with 5 balls remaining)

Hello and a warm welcome to the second ODI between India and Sri Lanka.

"There will be runs scored from this end and there will be runs scored from that end," says Sunil Gavaskar doing the pitch report. So another run-fest in offing. I am no Caligula and so, I am not a great fan of those run orgies. Let's see what pans out.

Toss: MS Dhoni has won and has chosen to bat. "It will be good to get a good start and put a strong total on board. The pitch might be slightly slow to start off with but will get better to bat on. Later on in the evening, it might help the spinners."

Sangakkara: "I also would have batted first. It looks pretty good batting wicket. New guys coming in, hopefully better outlook. We have a new off spinner and a fast bowler coming in. The pitch is probably on the slower side. Anything over 260 should be a good score."

Did Sanga say 260 or did he say 360?! Hopefully he said 260 and meant it. Suranga Lakmal, Suraj Randiv and Ajantha Mendis are in. Hmm.. Interesting.

0.1

Welegedara to Sehwag, FOUR, There we go. First ball and we have a boundary. He leaned forward and actually just pushed at it with an open-face of the bat. Single, two? No sir no .. it races past point

0.2

Welegedara to Sehwag, no run, on and around the off-stump line, Sehwag leans forward to defend it to the off side and goes for some gardening down the track. I know people who used to tap the bat on the pitch even on a cement track.

Welegedara to Sehwag, no run, angling away from Sehwag, not all that far away from the off stump, left alone

0.4

Welegedara to Sehwag, OUT, Welegedera takes out Sehwag. Quite similar delivery but he didn't leave this one alone. He went for the flashy cut, was cramped up for room and edged it behind. Sanga flew to his right to pouch a very good catch. The Big fish has been caught.

1.5

Mathews to Tendulkar, no run, length delivery comes in slightly from outside off, Tendulkar was shaping to punch it on the up but the inward movement meant the ball took the inside edge and rolled away to the o n side

1.6

Mathews to Tendulkar, no run, he accounts for the inward movement this time and works a length delivery tilting in from outside off to short midwicket

He was backing up, back pedaling away from the stumps, and Gambhir tried to go around him but bang.. clash and he couldn't get into the crease in time. The mid-on fielder fired in a direct hit. It was refered upstairs and the correct verdict has been given.
