Dr William Wilkinson had already established a reputation as a doctor in Sydney - he was a scholar at Sydney University - when he moved to London to attend University College where he won many accolades. He returned to Sydney in 1902 before taking up a consultant post in Harley Street in 1910. He was a leading specialist in the treatment of tuberculosis. A more than useful cricketer, he played for Middlesex in 1881 and 1882 as well as turning out three times for the touring Australians in 1878.
