The seventh and last child born to Benjamin and Ann (Bowler) Caesar, grew up in an atmosphere of cricket. For 24 years he was associated with cricket in Godalming and was a founder member of Broadwater Cricket Club. In later life he was employed at Charterhouse School as cricket coach and groundsman. After a life stalked by tragic incidents he died impoverished in 1878 in his lodgings in Mill Lane.
