Indian Premier League - 31st match

Chennai Super Kings v Kings XI Punjab

Chennai Super Kings won by 18 runs

7.58 pm local time: Stephen Fleming and S Vidyut will open the innings for Chennai. Vidyut came good against Delhi's formidable new-ball attack and scored a rapid 40. Fleming too hit his stride. Sreesanth will open the attack for Punjab, bowling from over the wicket. He said he was suffering from a fever, wonder how that will affect his performance.

Toss, 7.30 pm: Vanakkam Chennai, bellows Ravi Shastri, who is with the captains at the toss. Yuvraj calls tails and a tails it is. Yuvraj decides that Punjab will bowl. He thinks that the dew will be a factor later in the evening.

Punjab have made one change, they've strengthened their batting by bringing in Karan Goel for the bowler Gagandeep Singh. Sangakkara isn't fit, Yuvraj said he'd take another four-five days to recover so Uday Kaul will keep wicket once again.

Kings XI Punjab: 1 Shaun Marsh, 2 James Hopes, 3 Ramnaresh Sarwan, 4 Yuvraj Singh (capt), 5 Mahela Jayawardene, 6 Karan Goel, 7 Irfan Pathan, 8 Piyush Chawla, 9 Uday Kaul (wk), 10 Sreesanth, 11 VRV Singh.

Chennai are fielding an unchanged XI from the game against Delhi.

Chennai Super Kings: 1 S Vidyut, 2 Stephen Fleming, 3 Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt & wk), 4 Suresh Rania, 5 Albie Morkel, 6 Chamara Kapugedera, 7 S Badrinath, 8 Manpreet Gony, 9 Palani Amarnath, 10 Muttiah Muralitharan, 11 Lakshmipathy Balaji.

How do you think this game will go? Write in with your emails and let me know. I'm fervently hoping for a tense finish, I've not had much luck with those so far.

7.15 pm: Hello everybody and welcome to Cricinfo's coverage of the match between the Chennai Super Kings and the Kings XI Punjab at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. I'm George Binoy, your commentator for the game.

Today's winner will join Rajasthan Royals on top of the league with 12 points. Punjab are on a roll, having matched Rajasthan's streak of five wins in a row, and are looking for their sixth. Chennai, on the other hand, have ended a string of defeats by beating Delhi in a thrilling last-ball finish at the Feroz Shah Kotla.

Watch out for ... Dhoni v Chawla - Dhoni was dismissed by a legbreak from Shane Warne and was restricted and dismissed by left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha in two out of his last three games. He hasn't faced legspinner Chawla so far in the tournament but the bowler will hope he too can crack through Dhoni's defences. Click here to read more in the preview of the match.

It's been a hot day in Chennai, around 39 degrees, and humid too. Dew has played a part in some of the matches here and may do so again.

9.46 pm local time: Punjab have performed excellent damage control. They've conceded only 37 runs off the last five overs and managed to restrict Chennai, who were steaming along at 144 for 3 after 15 overs, to 181. Badrinath and Dhoni scored 64 and 60 respectively to lead Chennai's innings. The target of 182 is a competitive one but Chennai were on course to get 200 at one stage. I'll be back in ten minutes for Punjab's chase.
