Shailesh: "KKR have 52 players in the squad! Must be some long selection meetings to pick 11 with 4 overseas players from this."

Chaminda Vaas, by Deccan, and Ajantha Mendis, by Kolkata, have been rested. No Mortaza either.

Kolkata Knight Riders: 1 Brendon McCullum (capt), 2 Chris Gayle, 3 Sourav Ganguly, 4 Brad Hodge, 5 Aakash Chopra, 6 Moises Henriques, 7 Laxmi Ratan Shukla, 8 Ajit Agarkar, 9 Ishant Sharma, 10 Ashok Dinda, 11 Murali Kartik.

Deccan Chargers: 1 Adam Gilchrist (capt & wk), 2 Herschelle Gibbs, 3 Ravi Teja, 4 VVS Laxman, 5 Rohit Sharma, 6 Venugopal Rao, 7 Scott Styris, 8 Pragyan Ojha, 9 RP Singh, 10 Harmeet Singh, 11 Fidel Edwards.

5.34 pm: We are ready for the toss. Kolkata have won the toss and opted to bat. Gayle and McCullum will open, Ganguly is in at three and Brad Hodge at four. Gilchrist is in his new blue Jersey, and says the training camp at Centurion, where his team was based, was highly worth it. We'll get you the teams shortly.

5.32 pm: Right the problem's been fixed apparently. Shahrukh Khan settles in his seat. The bowlers' run-up area is still wet, so that could prove a bit of a problem. The experts believe that the side fielding second might be at a slight disadvantage, particularly the spinners, who might struggle with the dew.

5.03 pm: There's a problem with the lights at the stadium, which they're trying to rectify. Play, we're told, will start in around 40 minutes from now. So a delay, not because of the rain. It's been a long day.

Check out The CV, Page 2's take on the big-name players. Andrew Symonds is today's entry. However, he isn't playing today, as he's in the UAE, waiting to play for Australia against Pakistan.

Kolkata are playing under a new captain, Brendon McCullum, and also made waves with the signing of Bangladesh player Mashrafe Mortaza for a whopping $600,000. They'll be keen to put their record from last year behind them, when they finished sixth. Deccan, though, were worse, finishing last, but they have some star players in the form of Gilchrist and Gibbs who are more than capable of triggering a reversal in fortunes. They also have a new recruit in the form of the fiery Fidel Edwards.

4.45 pm local time: Hello and welcome to the fourth match of the IPL's second season, and it's Deccan Chargers taking on Kolkata Knight Riders. There's been some rain in Cape Town today, with the previous game between Delhi and Punjab eventually reduced to six overs during the run-chase, but the conditions seem fine as of now. We are still some time away from the toss, so read our Stats Editor S Rajesh's preview to the game until then.

Have you joined the IPL fantasy league yet? It's loads of fun. There are two versions of this for the IPL (Salary cap and Pick 'em). Check it out.

CH Gayle c Harmeet Singh b Singh 10 (12b 1x4 1x6) SR: 83.33

Kolkata struggled from the outset, losing McCullum early and never recovering. Ganguly followed, labouring to a run off 12 balls, and eventually edged a catch a Laxman. RP SIngh was the star performer for Deccan but received excellent support from Styris, Harmeet, and especially Ojha who continued the success spinners have enjoyed in the tournament thus far. Don't forget Edwards, who conceded just six runs off his four overs, proving his worth. There's definitely some assistance for the bowlers but a score of 101, it appears, is still way too low to seriously challenge Gilchrist and co. For a spectator's eye-view of the action, take a look at the first of our Fan Following reports.

Amit: "Fidel Edwards started it all with a hostile spell. Clearly the best Deccan bowler on show, unlucky not to get a wicket. RP bowled well no doubt but benefited from pressure created from Fidel's end."
