Indian Premier League - 20th match

Kings XI Punjab v Mumbai Indians

Kings XI Punjab won by 3 runs

4.38 pm: The openers are strolling out. Karan Goel is due for a significant contribution. The Mumbai players have taken their positions. Zaheer Khan has the ball, and facing him is Bopara. All set!

4.36 pm: Just an update on the weather. There was another game that happened earlier in the day at the same venue. It was bright and sunny, the skies were clear, and we can expect the rain to stay away for this match too. The ground is not up to capacity yet, about 75% full, it appears - still a good turnout for a weekday.

A few more minutes before the start of play, so you can read the preview to the game in the meantime.

The England-West Indies fantasy game is now live as well, so you can try your hand at that.

4.26 pm: Update your fantasy teams ASAP. You don't have much time.

4.23 pm: Both teams have emerged strong contenders in this competition, after recovering well from their respective defeats early on. The pitch is a little soft, and the experts think spinners will play a crucial role, as they have this whole IPL. The dew, they believe, might be a factor tonight.

4.15 pm local time: Hello and welcome to the 20th game of the IPL, with Punjab Kings XI taking on Mumbai Indians. Punjab have won the toss and opted to bat. Just the one change for them - Vikramjeet Malik comes in for VRV Singh.

Mumbai, as expected, have retained the same team that hammered Kolkata.

Quietish start here, Malinga started off impressively. Zaheer hasn't had much success in this series. It's mainly been Bravo and Malinga with the ball.

9.6

Tendulkar to Jayawardene, 1 run, that was seam-up, short on middle, had no trouble getting back and whipping it to fine leg

Time for the tacticial time-out. Mumbai have the advantage. Spin has again played a prominent role, and Tendulkar made some timely changes to produce the breakthroughs. Harbhajan struck in his first over, getting rid of the struggling Goel. Bravo got rid of Bopara, who played a mindless drive more out of desperation, and Yuvraj, though he got under it nicely, didn't get the desired elevation and holed out to long-on. Punjab would have been hoping for a far better result at this stage after batting first, and it's upto their Sri Lankan stalwarts now to dig them out of this early trouble.

Bravo to Sangakkara, 2 runs, a couple more, slower ball bowled full on leg stump, struck away wide of Zaheer at long-on, a wayward throw at the striker's end but he is through comfortably

Bravo to Sangakkara, 1 run, full on the off, dragged towards deep midwicket, Tiwary is onto it quickly and prevents the second

19.4

Bravo to Powar, FOUR, mistimes it for four, full on middle and leg, tried to drill it down the ground, hit the inside half of the bat and had enough on it to beat midwicket to the boundary, important runs these

19.5

Bravo to Powar, 1 run, short on middle, swats it in front of square, mistimed again, and only manages a single

19.6

Bravo to Sangakkara, OUT, run out, tries to be a little too smart, slower one bowled on a good length on the off, tries to reverse-paddle it, misses and Shah throws down the stumps on the attempted single to prevent Punjab from hitting six-an-over

RR Powar run out 10 (10b 1x4 0x6) SR: 100.00

Punjab have struggled through to 119. Sangakkara remained unbeaten on a valuable 45, but he too had to work hard amid all the wickets falling at the other end. Malinga was the star, completing yet another successful spell, taking 2 for 12 in his quota of overs. The pitch was expected to play a little slow, but the Punjab batsmen dug themselves into a bit of a hole from the outset. 17 extras in the innings, including 11 wides, and Mumbai will be hoping that doesn't make a difference in the outcome. Join us in a bit for the run-chase.
